Chapter 1148: The Great Sea Didn't Delay Your Journey at All
Hearing these words, someone called out, "It's only right."
At this, someone took the lead in clapping.
Seeing everyone so enthusiastic, Liu Chuxue was infected by it too.
Meanwhile, Guo Yueliang, standing nearby, held her camera, found the right angle, and pressed the shutter; she was now completely swept up in the fervor, thinking she would definitely write a report later.
After seeing off the enthusiastic villagers who had come to thank them and having lunch at the Jiao family's, Liu Chuxue prepared to return.
The dried seafood that had been exchanged earlier had already been helped onto the boat by the squad leader's order; when Liu Chuxue arrived, Grandpa Afu was already waiting there with his grandson.
Seeing Liu Chuxue approach, Grandpa Afu couldn't stop praising her.
It made Liu Chuxue feel a bit embarrassed.
At this moment, the squad leader had someone bring over the gifts of gratitude, but upon seeing the items, Liu Chuxue quickly spoke up, "Squad Leader, are all these for me?"
The squad leader nodded with a smile, "Yes, it's a small token of appreciation from the villagers."
Liu Chuxue quickly waved her hands to refuse, "Squad Leader, I appreciate everyone's kindness, but this is truly too much. I originally just intended to bring some back to add to tonight's meal and taste the freshness; any more would be hard to preserve."
Seeing that Liu Chuxue was not merely being polite.
The squad leader thought for a moment and agreed; the young Miss had said that after returning to the city, she would immediately go back to the Capital City, so indeed so much fresh seafood would be hard to preserve: "Then you pick as you see fit; take as much as you can carry. Later, if there's anything you want to eat, just write to us, and we'll mail it to you."
Liu Chuxue smiled brightly, "That would be wonderful. If I ever need dried seafood, I'll write to you."
Just as they were preparing to load the boat and leave, someone shouted, "Wait, wait."
Everyone turned to look at the source of the voice and saw Gangzi's mother rushing over with things in hand, "My benefactor."
As she spoke, she tried to kneel down, frightening Liu Chuxue into stepping forward swiftly to support her, "You must not. This is a new society now; kneeling is not done anymore."
Gangzi's mother's eyes were red: "If not for you, my Gangzi's life might have been in danger. Gangzi cannot leave the house right now, so I am coming on his behalf to say thank you. We have nothing good at home; these are a small token of appreciation from our whole family. You must accept them."
Liu Chuxue, looking at the gifts of gratitude which were far more abundant than others', didn't know what to say, until she heard the squad leader say, "Accept them."
Thinking of how long that child had been soaked in the seawater, he might well run a fever tonight, and seeing so many gifts of gratitude, Liu Chuxue took medicine from her bag—actually from her spatial storage: "This is fever-reducing medicine I took from the factory clinic before leaving the Capital City. The child was soaked in the water for quite some time; I'm worried he might run a fever tonight. Take this just in case."
This made Gangzi's mother even more grateful to Liu Chuxue, "Thank you so very much."
To avoid trouble, Liu Chuxue added one more remark, "However, it would be best to have the village Physician examine him first to see if the child can take it; the child's safety must come first."
After some pleasantries, Liu Chuxue finally boarded Grandpa Afu's boat. After waving goodbye to everyone, she smiled at Guo Yueliang, "Liangliang, see you in the Capital City."
Looking at the now calm and peaceful sea surface, she couldn't help but sigh inwardly: One moment the waves were smashing against the reefs, and the next, the shimmering light had ironed the sea surface perfectly flat.
Truly, the surge and the gentleness depend entirely on the mood; life for the fishermen living by the sea is truly not easy.
All along the way, Grandpa Afu kept telling Liu Chuxue interesting stories about the seaside, and as they neared their destination, he joked, "You young lady have truly good luck; the great sea didn't delay your journey at all."
