Chapter 1167: Transaction

~5 min read 846 words

Liu Chuxue glanced at her watch using the light from their flashlights; since it was still early, she could always catch up on sleep in the car tomorrow: "Trading here is definitely off the table. In two hours, bring your men to the northwest corner of the unfinished construction site at the Canton Fair, but you must bring your own fish-handling tools."

The man didn't hesitate for a second; instead, his eyes gleamed. After stating a price that satisfied Liu Chuxue, he pointed to the two boxes on the ground: "You check the contents first. If there are no issues, I'll have my men start moving the goods."

Liu Chuxue didn't make a fuss; she simply opened the boxes.

Just as the man had said, they were all fine goods. Whether due to the spatial effect or not, touching them produced a peculiar sensation; a thread of affinity seemed to emanate from her fingertips, causing her heart to race: placed in a later era, these items would fetch astronomical prices.

Seeing her stare for a long while, the man spoke up: "How is it? Are you satisfied?"

Liu Chuxue knew that even by current market rates, the contents were worth far more than the price asked, so she spoke the truth: "Very satisfied."

She pointed casually in a direction: "Have your men help move the boxes over there; someone will come to collect them shortly."

The man waved his hand, and people behind him immediately stepped forward to lift the items, placing them in the designated spot as Liu Chuxue had requested.

What they didn't know was that the moment the two men carrying the boxes left, Liu Chuxue telekinetically stored both boxes into her space.

After the two finished discussing the next steps of the transaction, the man glanced casually toward the distance and immediately froze in place; the two boxes he had placed over there had vanished into thin air.

He raised his hand and pointed toward that spot, unable to believe his eyes: "The boxes are gone?"

Liu Chuxue, however, smiled: "No need to panic. My eldest brother sent someone to collect them."

This made the man even more certain that the people behind this young Miss could not be provoked.

Since payment and goods were settled, Liu Chuxue didn't linger: "I'll leave a bit early to notify them to deliver the goods. In two hours, you just go over there."

Liu Chuxue hurried away, retrieved her bicycle, and headed toward the agreed-upon trading location.

After watching Liu Chuxue leave, one of the men behind the leader spoke up: "Boss, should we follow her?"

The man raised his hand to stop him: "No need. Didn't you see her skills that day? And just now, those two boxes were taken right under our noses without us noticing. Do you think an ordinary person could do that?"

He glanced toward the direction Liu Chuxue had departed: "The people behind her are not someone we can provoke. Moreover, since we seek wealth, harmony is naturally the priority."

Having finished speaking, he gave a few instructions to his subordinates before leading them away; after all, the upcoming transaction involved fresh goods, so he needed to contact someone to ship a portion out first, given that his own cold storage capacity was limited.

Meanwhile, in a small courtyard in Panyu District, Qi Shufang was knocked to the ground by a slap from the man: "Qi Shufang, what the hell do you think you are? If your mother hadn't personally come begging me back then, do you think I would have taken a fancy to you?"

As he spoke, he kicked her several more times: "You even dare to harm my daughter? It seems you don't want to live."

Qi Shufang screamed "Ouch, ouch" as she was beaten, begging for mercy repeatedly: "I didn't! Really! How could I possibly lay a hand on Xiang Bao'er? It's because I didn't share candy with those children during the day that they said those things on purpose. Please, don't hit me anymore."

The man didn't spare her despite her pleas; instead, he struck even harder: "Daring to touch Xiang Bao'er, you are asking for death."

He hadn't truly cared about Qi Shufang to begin with; if his mother hadn't approached him, citing the kindness of the older generation, how could he have married someone unable to bear children?

The reason he agreed was naturally to reassure his former mother-in-law; she was no ordinary old woman, having fought on battlefields and killed Japanese invaders, with vast connections. He had thought that with Qi Shufang holding down the fort at home, he could make other plans once his own power was fully established. He never expected such an incident to occur; if he didn't handle it properly, he feared he would never be able to take Xiang Bao'er back.

And this woman had indeed been the one to harbor evil intentions first; no matter how severely he punished her, her natal family would likely have no face to come and demand justice against him.
