Chapter 1209: They Cannot Hold Them Captive
After finishing their official business, Xu Changhai ran to the kitchen to cook a bowl of noodles for his wife; as they came out of the pot, he tossed in a handful of spinach, then added some chili sauce and pickled vegetables from a few days ago: "Wife, here's your noodles. Fortunately, you made chili sauce earlier, or today you'd have nothing but pickled vegetables with noodles."
Section Chief Li smiled and said, "At worst, I'll just go mooch a meal from my parents."
Watching his wife eat, Xu Changhai suddenly remarked, "That girl under your command is formidable; she switched jobs without making a sound. Once your factory director finds out, he'll either be so regretful his intestines turn green or so furious he'll breathe fire from seven orifices."
Hearing this, Section Chief Li's expression grew somewhat heavy. He swallowed the noodles in his mouth: "Although Qin Ruoyun was the one behind this, without his approval, the factory office wouldn't have come to deliver the transfer order. As a member of the factory, I advised and spoke up, but since no one listened, I could only go with the flow."
What she did not know was that in the days to come, she would constantly regret it; if only she had properly persuaded Liu Chuxue back then, or perhaps gone to see the factory director again to urge him to revoke his order and prioritize the collective interests of the factory. Of course, that was all in the future.
Xu Changhai poured a glass of water for his wife and brought it over: "As a finance section chief, you can't even command the factory director. Even without this job-switching incident, that young lady would still have been willing to sell her job just to leave."
Section Chief Li sighed: "A capable person shines wherever they go; why should they endure such humiliation here?"
After speaking, he added another sentence: "Besides, young Fu's rank is right there; he should have long ago asked his wife to join the army. They have a way out; they cannot be held captive by them."
After eating and cleaning up, the two did not linger at home any longer and both hurried back to the factory.
Upon arriving at the factory, Xu Changhai immediately went to find the factory director. He did not mention what had happened at the rolling mill, speaking only of relieving the director's worries and solving his problems.
The factory director, hearing there was such a good thing, said, "Section Chief Xu, I owe you a favor for this. You've taken the trouble; I wonder when the procedures can be processed?"
Xu Changhai knew the factory director was anxious; if his youngest son still had no job, he would have to go to the countryside: "The earliest would be next week, depending on what position we can arrange here. If they are satisfied over there, then this matter is as good as settled."
The factory director was now reassured: "As you know, right now there is only one position each in the Propaganda Section and the Accounting Section. So many people are watching them; if not for me and Vice Director Qian keeping a close eye, they would have been divided up long ago."
After speaking, he asked another question: "Is it truly impossible to make it any faster?"
Xu Changhai could see the factory director wanted to settle the matter as soon as possible: "Director, they need four days of rest before they can return."
The factory director also knew he was being unreasonable: "Forgive me, brother; I was too impatient. Then I'll have to trouble you to give this more thought. Once it's done, I'll treat you to a drink."
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Xu Changhai finally left, fully satisfied.
On the other side, Fu Yan Cheng and Liu Chuxue finished lunch at the Xiao family's house and prepared to leave.
Chunxiao kept staring at the dress Liu Chuxue was wearing: "Second Sister, did you buy this dress in the south?"
Liu Chuxue perfunctorily replied, "Yes."
She had now completely given up on this younger sister. For someone who did not know gratitude, she had no obligation to waste time trying to reform them; she had done what she needed to do, and it was better to respect others' destinies.
Seeing Liu Chuxue's indifferent attitude, Chunxiao said, "Second Sister, what kind of attitude is that?"
Liu Chuxue raised her eyes to look at her: "What's wrong with my attitude? You're asking for too much. I don't eat your food or drink your water; what kind of attitude do you want from me?"
