Chapter 1340: It Seems I Thought Too Simply
Fu Yan Cheng had not returned because he was engaged in rescue operations in the disaster zone.
Liu Chuxue therefore did not return to the family compound, but stayed in the city.
The grain in the space had all been donated a few days ago, and there would be no more for several months; now the space held mostly various kinds of fish, but with the current scorching heat, there was no guarantee the fresh fish would still be edible by the time it reached the disaster victims, yet she possessed such a great opportunity and could not stand idly by.
After much deliberation, she thought it better to make salted fish; it need not be heavily seasoned, as long as it would not spoil by the time it reached the disaster victims, which would at least count as contributing her own strength.
Changing clothes and going out to many places, she bought enough salt; except for rest periods, she spent all her time in the space making salted fish.
For three consecutive days, she managed to make only nearly five hundred jin of salted fish; it seemed she had thought too simply.
That night, she disguised herself and went out once more, arriving at the same place where supplies had been left before; after confirming no one was tailing her, she quickly brought out the salted fish she had made over these days, along with chicken eggs and duck eggs from the space, forming a modest scale.
After leaving, she slipped over to the City Gongan Bureau; this time she did not see Kong Yizhang, but heard people discussing that many supplies were now taking off and landing from Nanyuan Airport.
Over the next few days, she even developed morning sickness, and wearing a mask did not help.
She found a place to call Kong Yizhang's office, but could not reach him; thinking for a moment, she called directly to Uncle Xiao's office; this time her luck was good, and after being transferred, someone answered within moments: "Uncle."
Xiao Changjiang was startled upon hearing the voice: "Chuxue, why are you calling?"
Liu Chuxue coughed lightly: "Uncle, I have entrusted someone to prepare some supplies and wish to contribute a modest effort to the disaster zone; I would trouble you to help me."
Xiao Changjiang did not expect his niece to have such generosity: "You are thoughtful; leave this matter to me. A batch of supplies is scheduled to be loaded and transported there tomorrow morning. Shall you send someone to deliver them, or shall I send someone to pick them up?"
Liu Chuxue naturally did not wish to burden others; calculating the time, she said: "Uncle, in about an hour I should be able to reach your location; just have someone come out to receive the goods."
After hanging up, she turned and returned to the place where she stored things, reabsorbed the items into the space, brought out a bicycle from the space, and headed toward the direction of the Railway Bureau.
As she neared the destination, she found a concealed spot to store the bicycle, then walked toward the main gate; when still some distance away, after confirming safety, she brought the items out.
Moments after bringing the items out, she heard someone approaching; she quickly took a wet handkerchief from the space and wiped off the disguise on her face.
What she did not expect was that among those approaching was her own uncle: "Uncle, I am here."
Xiao Changjiang looked in the direction of the voice and saw someone waving at him; assuming it was only a small amount of goods, he had brought only one person when he came out; unexpectedly, the pile of items at his niece's feet was considerable; he turned and said to the person behind him: "Go fetch a tricycle."
After that person left, Xiao Changjiang whispered: "Where did these things come from? Did you go to the black market?"
Liu Chuxue knew her uncle was worried about her: "I did not go to the black market; I obtained these through friends. However, Uncle, your words have reminded me: do not let anyone know I donated these; I do not wish to attract attention. As for the origin of these goods, Uncle, you may figure it out yourself."
