Chapter 1351: If You Keep This Up, I'll Get Angry
No need to ask; these past days, he must have been working day and night on rescue efforts, likely having no time to rest at all: "I'll be back in a moment; you eat first."
Leaving the ward, Liu Chuxue hurried downstairs to the water room; there was a tool shed over there, and its door was usually left unlocked.
Seeing no one coming this way, she quickly entered the tool shed, walked behind the door, and slipped straight into the space.
The first thing she did upon entering was drink a cup of the space's pool water, finally suppressing the discomfort in her chest.
Afterward, she picked a few tangerines; though not yet ripe, they were already edible. She hadn't picked them to eat the fruit, but for the peels.
She peeled one tangerine, held the peel under her nose, and felt much better. She didn't dare stay in the space too long: first, people would occasionally come to the water room to draw water; second, she feared Fu Yan Cheng would worry.
Exiting the space and confirming the outside was safe, she hurried out.
Going upstairs into the ward, she saw Fu Yan Cheng had turned around, his eyes fixed on the door; it was obvious he was waiting for her. She teased deliberately: "Having a meal, and you've changed direction?"
Fu Yan Cheng didn't answer directly; he kept staring at her face: "Are you all right?"
Knowing that if she said nothing, this fellow probably wouldn't feel reassured, she replied: "I'm fine; it's just that the hospital smell is quite strong, and I feel slightly unwell."
Hearing this, Fu Yan Cheng wore a look of self-blame: "It's all my fault..."
Liu Chuxue quickly stepped forward: "What nonsense are you talking? If you keep this up, I'll get angry."
Fu Yan Cheng didn't want to make Liu Chuxue unhappy: "I won't say it anymore. Hurry and drink the chicken soup, or it'll get cold soon."
Liu Chuxue felt much better now and didn't want Fu Yan Cheng to worry. She opened the other lunchbox, blocked Fu Yan Cheng's view with her body, added some space pool water to the chicken soup, and then began to sip it slowly.
Her appetite was small; after drinking only half, she couldn't continue: "Yan Cheng, I can't drink anymore."
Fu Yan Cheng urged her to drink a few more mouthfuls. Seeing she truly couldn't drink more, he took the bowl: "Lie down on the bed for a while. Guo Zhanrong will be here soon; let him wash this lunchbox."
Liu Chuxue didn't refuse; she was truly too sleepy now, her eyelids already starting to fight each other.
There were two hospital beds in this ward; since no other patients had been assigned, she lay down and fell asleep within moments.
Fu Yan Cheng's face was filled with heartache.
He had just finished the remaining steamed buns with Liu Chuxue's leftover chicken soup when Guo Zhanrong walked in: "Company Commander Fu..."
Fu Yan Cheng quickly raised a finger: "Shh."
Then he pointed to the person sleeping on the bed: "Xiao Guo, wash the lunchbox and return it to Director Du at the cafeteria."
Xiao Guo nodded: "Okay."
As he was about to exit the ward door, Fu Yan Cheng said quietly: "On your way, check whether the Physician in charge of me is in the office."
Guo Zhanrong wore a worried expression: "Company Commander Fu, are you uncomfortable somewhere?"
Fu Yan Cheng waved his hand: "No, no; I have something I wish to consult about."
Only then did Xiao Guo feel relieved: "Alright, I'll go check right away."
Moments later, Xiao Guo walked in quickly, followed by a Physician: "Company Commander Fu, what would you like to consult about?"
Fu Yan Cheng looked at Guo Zhanrong: "Xiao Guo, go return the lunchbox first."
After Xiao Guo left, Fu Yan Cheng pointed to the sleeping Liu Chuxue: "My wife is pregnant; she can't stand the hospital smells. Yet she won't leave me alone in the hospital. Can you make an exception? I'll come every day and leave right after my IV drip. Otherwise, I fear my wife's health will suffer before I recover."
