Chapter 1358: Discharged from the Hospital

~4 min read 744 words

Fu Yan Cheng, who had originally planned to get out of bed slowly, immediately changed his mind: "Wife, how about you feed me instead? Lifting this arm pulls at the wound on my back; if it splits, you'll have to help me deal with it."

Fu Yan Cheng wasn't lying; Liu Chuxue knew what he was thinking but didn't refuse: "Fine, I'll feed you."

Seeing her agree, Fu Yan Cheng smiled: "You eat first; it's not too late to feed me once you're full. We can't let the baby in your stomach go hungry."

Thinking the chicken soup was still quite hot, she said: "Alright, I'll eat first. By then the temperature will drop a bit more, so I won't need to blow on it; it'll be ready to eat straight away."

Hearing their conversation and recalling his wife's selfishness, Company Commander Zheng felt a pang of bitterness in his heart. Aside from her son being her life, she probably cared most about herself. During his few days in the hospital, she had only occasionally gone to the canteen to fetch some food and bring it over, never really paying him any mind.

Fu Yan Cheng was a man of clear likes and dislikes. Even though Company Commander Zheng's gaze had frequently drifted their way, he would not repay virtue with virtue; even a comrade-in-arms wouldn't change that. His wife was his bottom line.

With Liu Chuxue's careful care and after staying in the hospital for a few more days, Physician Zhao finally agreed to let Fu Yan Cheng be discharged to recover at home.

Over these past few days, people had come to visit Fu Yan Cheng one after another, bringing quite a lot of gifts. They had to borrow a vehicle from the regiment and ask someone to come pick them up.

Back at the family compound, Liu Chuxue stopped Fu Yan Cheng, who wanted to help carry the things: "You'd better just rest properly with your injury; I'll handle it."

But as soon as she finished speaking, several sisters-in-law chatting under the tree ahead walked over: "Company Commander Fu, you're being discharged?"

Fu Yan Cheng nodded: "Yes, the scabs have formed, so there's no need to occupy medical resources anymore. Recovering at home for a while will suffice."

Seeing the driver unload the items, they all stepped in to help carry them.

Liu Chuxue went back inside the room, actually taking out a large handful of fruit candies from her space: "Thank you all. Here, take a few candies each to sweeten your mouths."

Not only did she give them to the military wives who had helped, but she also handed the rest to the young soldier who had brought them back: "Thank you for making the trip and bringing us back."

The young soldier felt too embarrassed to accept and was about to refuse when Fu Yan Cheng's voice came over: "If your sister-in-law gives it, just take it."

Blushing, the young soldier thanked them and then drove away.

As soon as they entered the courtyard, Zhuifeng started acting spoiled, wagging its tail and looking up at them hopefully, wanting them to set it free.

That fellow had gone wild playing in the space over the past few days, even running up the mountains in the space chasing various animals. If she hadn't specifically returned last night to tidy up the house and let it out along the way, it would have caused havoc in her space who knows how.

She gave Fu Yan Cheng a warning look: "You've just returned; people will inevitably come to visit you. Don't let Zhuifeng go, or you might scare the children who come with my lord."

After speaking, she said to Zhuifeng: "Alright, stop acting spoiled and cute; you should settle down too."

She helped him into the room: "Alright, rest for a while. I bought a watermelon yesterday; I'll go cut it and bring it over."

But when Liu Chuxue came back in, she saw him staring blankly: "What are you thinking about?"

As she handed him a slice of watermelon, she said: "Thinking about the disaster area. I wonder how things are over there?"

Liu Chuxue thought of the watermelons already ready for harvest in her space and couldn't help but sigh softly. In these times, unlike in the future, even if she wanted to donate some things, she dared not do so openly; otherwise, one wrong move would bring trouble.
