Chapter 1399: Protect Your Wife

Colonel Guan heard the familiar voice of someone reporting: "Come in."

He looked up and saw Fu Yan Cheng had actually brought a female comrade inside; just as he was about to ask, he recognized the visitor: "What is this situation? Why have you brought your wife here?"

Fu Yan Cheng said nothing, first handing over that note: "Colonel, please look at this first."

Colonel Guan took the note with a puzzled expression; after reading the contents, his heart also jumped: "Where did this come from?"

Liu Chuxue repeated once again what she had previously told Fu Yan Cheng: "The situation is this; I saw it and initially thought it was a prank, intending to throw it away, but I feared it might be real, so I came to find Fu Yan Cheng first."

Colonel Guan considered briefly, then made a direct decision: "Whether true or false, a trip will reveal the truth; if it is real, whoever donated it, it is a good thing for the nation."

He raised a finger, pointing at Fu Yan Cheng: "Find several reliable people to go with you; when you arrive, do not tell them anything about the matter; just act according to the situation."

Fu Yan Cheng thought for a moment: "I know that place, but I have never entered it; although few people go there, I fear the unexpected; I thought we should drive a truck directly there; this way, if the information above is true, we can bring the items back immediately, avoiding the need to arrange another vehicle, preserving secrecy as much as possible, and preventing further errors."

Colonel Guan understood what Fu Yan Cheng was worried about: "Very well, proceed as you say; regardless, this is a virtuous act; since the donor does not wish to be known, we must naturally respect the donor's wishes."

Liu Chuxue spoke up: "I can lead the way; after all, I previously entered that Lin Zi and saw that house, saving you the time of searching for the path."

Colonel Guan thought only that Liu Chuxue made this request out of curiosity, but remembering she was an insider, he did not refuse: "Very well, but you must be extremely careful with safety."

Speaking, he also looked at Fu Yan Cheng: "The situation is already unclear; protect your wife."

Fu Yan Cheng had intended to persuade Liu Chuxue to stay, but seeing her expression that she absolutely must go, he could only salute the Colonel: "Yes."

While Colonel Guan made a phone call to arrange a vehicle, he signaled Fu Yan Cheng to select the personnel.

Fu Yan Cheng acted quickly as well, naturally bringing only trustworthy people.

Shen Kaiyuan, who had just returned from disaster relief, was among them: "I say, Company Commander Fu, I have only just returned..."

Just as he was about to continue, he saw Liu Chuxue in the vehicle: "Sister-in-law, why are you in the vehicle too?"

Fu Yan Cheng kicked him: "Stop talking nonsense; get in the vehicle quickly."

Seeing Fu Yan Cheng's serious expression, Shen Kaiyuan also reined in his roguish demeanor: "Sister-in-law is here; leave me some face."

Having finished speaking, he climbed into the truck bed in three swift movements.

As soon as the personnel assigned to the mission boarded the vehicle, Fu Yan Cheng started the engine.

Liu Chuxue had previously stated that she indeed went to that place but did not see those items; in other words, there is a fifty percent chance the content written on that note is false; then what is their purpose?

Thinking again that it might be a conspiracy, he regretted bringing Liu Chuxue along; after all, she is currently pregnant; what if a conflict occurs and she gets hurt?

He glanced at Liu Chuxue in the passenger seat: "Wife, we have heard of that place; I suspect this matter might be a conspiracy by enemy agents; perhaps you should not come along; there is a checkpoint ahead; I will arrange for you to stay there..."

How could Liu Chuxue possibly agree? The reason she insisted on coming along was to confirm whether the items she produced remained safe and intact.
