Chapter 1514: Deputy Commander Fu Is Too Busy Worrying About His Wife
Fu Yan Cheng carried Liu Chuxue straight to the ward, where Tao Saozi was already waiting at the door: "Deputy Commander Fu, over here."
As he walked over, a woman in the adjacent room stepped out: "Oh my, holding her like this in broad daylight? So shameless."
Fu Yan Cheng glared directly at the old woman: "My wife just came out of the delivery room—am I not supposed to carry her?"
The old woman clearly hadn't expected him to snap back: "Like anyone hasn't given birth before—so delicate."
Fu Yan Cheng held his wife in his arms and had no time to argue—he walked straight into the ward.
Tao Saozi, disapproving of the old woman, said: "Old lady, not everyone gives birth to triplets. A little delicacy is perfectly normal. If you can't stand it, keep it to yourself—none of your business."
The old woman, used to bullying others, was about to start yelling, but the woman behind her grabbed her arm: "Mom, this is a military hospital, not our village—stop causing trouble for Rongguo."
The old woman turned and glared at the woman: "Which side are you on? Can't you see I'm being mistreated? Now you're complaining about your own mother?"
The woman gripped the old woman's arm tightly: "Mom, you know Rongguo's condition. If you make him unhappy, his wound will heal slower. One wrong move, and he might angrily submit his discharge papers—you'll regret it."
After a long internal struggle, the old woman finally calmed down: "Fine, I understand."
Fu Yan Cheng laid Liu Chuxue on the bed, settled her in, then walked over to Xiao Guo, who was standing outside the ward.
After taking the food box from his hands, he returned to the bedside: "Hungry? Let's eat a little first, then rest, okay?"
The gentle tone made Xiao Guo outside the door shiver: My god, I never thought Deputy Commander would be this gentle with Sister-in-Law.
When he opened the food box, a fresh aroma of rice floated out. He turned to Xiao Guo outside: "You're good—where'd you buy this millet porridge? Not only golden yellow, but it even has red dates."
Xiao Guo scratched his head: "It's not me who's capable—it's Sister-in-Law's luck. When I got to the mess hall, there was only leftover food left—how could there still be millet porridge?"
Before he finished, Fu Yan Cheng frowned: "Where did this porridge come from?"
Xiao Guo smiled: "Didn't I say it's Sister-in-Law's luck? I was worried what to do, then I ran into Qiao Yunhai's mother."
"Qiao Yunhai got injured on a mission a few days ago. The doctor said he can only have liquids for now. His mother added red dates from home to help him recover faster. When she heard Sister-in-Law just gave birth, she generously gave me a whole food box."
Liu Chuxue, upon hearing this, immediately spoke up: "Give this food box to them—they might not even have enough to eat. We can't take advantage of them."
Fu Yan Cheng nodded: "Understood."
He turned to the people in the ward: "Aunt Wei, I'll stay here. Go home and stew some chicken soup."
Then he looked at the other military wives who had helped: "Thank you all so much for your help today. I'll visit each of you personally to thank you."
Tao Saozi spoke first: "Don't be silly—it was just a small favor. No need to come by to thank us."
Though the birth went smoothly, it still drained her strength. Liu Chuxue's eyelids were heavy: "Sisters, it's getting late—haven't you all eaten yet? I'm truly sorry."
Hearing this, Fu Yan Cheng suddenly realized: "It's my fault—I got so anxious I forgot. I'm truly sorry, sisters."
Tang Xinrui, watching him, teased: "Deputy Commander Fu is so busy worrying about his wife, haha."
