When Fu Yanwan arrived home, Ren Jiangfeng was already there; as soon as she stepped inside, she called out, "I'm back."

Ren Jiangfeng put one arm around his wife's waist: "Did something good happen when you went to Fourth Brother's place?"

"By the way, is Fourth Sister-in-law and the children all well? Did you convey my greetings to them?"

Fu Yanwan rested her head against his chest: "Fourth Sister-in-law and the nephews and nieces are all very well; it is I who have good news to tell you."

Ren Jiangfeng led her a few steps inward, one hand patting Fu Yanwan's back while the other stirred the vegetables in the pot a few times: "Speak; I'm listening."

Then Fu Yanwan said, "I'm pregnant."

Ren Jiangfeng stopped his stirring motion: "Xiao Wan, what did you say?"

Fu Yanwan looked up at him, raising her voice considerably: "I said I'm pregnant."

Ren Jiangfeng disregarded the vegetables, moving both hands to Fu Yanwan's shoulders: "Xiao Wan, say it again."

Seeing his excited state, Fu Yanwan said, "I'm pregnant; you're going to be a father."

Overwhelmed with excitement, Ren Jiangfeng didn't know what to do, constantly murmuring, "This is wonderful; I'm going to be a father; my wife is pregnant. Wife, pinch me."

Seeing that his smile stretched all the way to the back of his ears, Fu Yanwan truly pinched him hard: "Calm down; there are still people in the courtyard."

Pinched quite hard, Ren Jiangfeng let out a "Hiss!" of pain: "Wife, you're truly ruthless, but I like it very much."

He had to let go of Fu Yanwan, turn around to rescue the food in the pot; his comical movements made Fu Yanwan burst into loud laughter: "Letting you be cheeky, and now look what happened."

While rescuing his food, Ren Jiangfeng turned to smile at Fu Yanwan: "Wife, you're still laughing; this was meat I had someone save for us..."

Before he could finish the rest of his sentence, Fu Yanwan stretched her neck to look into the pot: "My meat; quickly add some water."

Seeing his wife's anxious expression, Ren Jiangfeng couldn't help but laugh: "Now you know to be anxious?"

While teasing his wife with his words, his hands moved quickly; he quickly fetched a clean clay pot, scooped all the unburnt vegetables from above into it, placed the clay pot on the stove fire, and only then added a little water to the original pot: "Wife, the burning isn't severe; you eat from the clay pot; that one has no burnt smell. I'll eat what's left in this pot."
