Chapter 1549: Being a Happy Rice Worm
Auntie Wei looked at the piece of cloth, motionless for a long while.
Chuxue pushed it toward her: "Auntie, this is for Wenbin; he earned it through his labor. You cannot refuse it."
How could Auntie Wei not know that Deputy Regiment Commander Fu and his wife were trying to help the grandmother and grandson in this indirect way?
She took a deep breath, wiped her hands on her apron, and only then reached out to take the cloth: "I thank you both on his behalf."
Seeing her accept it, Chuxue breathed a sigh of relief: "Auntie, this is what Wenbin earned through his labor; there is no need to thank us. It will be New Year in a little over half a month. Please take some time to make him a new outfit."
Auntie Wei's eyes turned red: "Thanks to your blessings, this is the most cheerful New Year the two of us have ever had."
Chuxue patted her hand: "Things will get better and better. Wenbin is very well raised by you; he will surely have a day of rising above others."
Now, Wei Wenbin was everything to Auntie Wei; naturally, she was delighted to hear these words. Right now, her heart was filled with the thought that since others treated the grandmother and grandson so well, she must take even greater care of them.
Auntie Wei composed herself: "You eat first; I'll go check the chicken soup on the stove."
Chuxue nodded, watching as Auntie Wei, cherishing the cloth, turned and walked out.
With her keen hearing, she soon heard Wei Wenbin's voice coming from the kitchen: "What? This cloth is for me from Auntie Fu? Really? It's for me?"
"Yes, how could it be a lie? Your Auntie Fu said this is what you earned through your labor."
"Grandma, I will definitely work hard from now on."
Remembering something, he quickly added: "Don't worry; I won't neglect my studies, nor will I give anyone a chance to bully Uncle Fu and Auntie Fu and the others."
A wave of gratification washed over Auntie Wei's heart.
She noticed that since her grandson had come to live in the family compound, he had grown up a lot; he was no longer the loner he used to be, and he smiled more often. She was now incredibly grateful for having taken on the job of caring for Chuxue.
She never expected that under the subtle influence of Deputy Regiment Commander Fu and his wife, the child could change so much, and her heart was filled with even greater gratitude toward Fu Yan Cheng and his wife.
After finishing his work, Fu Yan Cheng began his leave.
With Fu Yan Cheng's addition, Auntie Wei found things much easier.
The small green vegetables grown in the room had now come in handy, adding many new varieties to Chuxue's confinement meals.
Fu Yan Cheng took over all the tasks regarding the triplets; Chuxue's only duty now was to breastfeed the children.
Fearing his wife would become exhausted and suffer from postpartum illnesses, Fu Yan Cheng's serious attitude even made Auntie Wei feel ashamed; she had never seen anyone so particular before.
There was no way around it. Chuxue had originally planned to translate a few documents in her spare time, but Fu Yan Cheng simply gave her no chance: "Wife, your husband can support the family. Your current task is to recover your health. After the hundred days, I promise I won't interfere with your affairs, okay?"
Chuxue naturally couldn't be ungrateful: "Alright, I'll listen to you. Then, for this period, I'll just be a happy rice worm."
Hearing this, Fu Yan Cheng was stunned for a moment, then laughed. His wife often said words he didn't quite understand, and he had grown accustomed to it.
Fortunately, whenever she saw him confused, she would take the time to explain it to him specifically, and each time he listened with complete conviction.
This time was no exception; he heard his wife explain with her eyes closed: "A rice worm is someone who only eats and doesn't work, relying on others to support them, doing nothing at all."
Fu Yan Cheng smiled and stole a kiss on Chuxue's cheek: "Your husband can support you. Be your rice worm for as long as you like; no matter how long, your husband is more than willing."
