Chapter 1644: Alright, Stop Acting, You Three
Near home, she found a secluded spot, confirmed it was safe, then took out the ingredients she had prepared in advance in her space.
At the doorway, Wei Wenbin stepped forward: "Auntie, let me carry it for you."
Liu Chuxue did not refuse, handing him the net bag in her left hand: "How did you know I was at the door?"
Wei Wenbin smiled: "I figured you'd be back soon, so I ran out to check every little while. See, I caught you."
Though a trivial matter, it warmed the heart.
Inside the courtyard, Wei Wenbin lowered his voice: "Auntie, Le Bao and the others are full and just fell asleep. Let's keep it quiet."
Wei Dainiang heard the commotion in the kitchen and hurried over to take the items from Liu Chuxue's right hand: "Let me carry them. You rest your hands."
They did not enter the bedroom but carried the items straight to the main hall.
Liu Chuxue took out two pieces of corduroy fabric she had prepared in advance in her space: "Auntie, with the New Year coming, I want you and Wenbin to each have a pair of trousers made from this."
Wei Dainiang pushed back: "You already gave us fabric before. We can't take more. Le Bao and the others grow fast; keep this fabric for them."
Liu Chuxue, refusing to be denied, said: "The previous fabric was too thin and unwearable now. Besides, with the New Year approaching, new clothes would be festive."
"Over this past year, thanks to your care, we've become like family. Can't I even give a piece of fabric? Wenbin has grown quite a bit; his trousers now drag at his ankles. I specifically bought extra fabric; make them a bit roomier for him."
Wei Dainiang was touched, forcing her eyes wide to hold back tears: "You always think of us like this."
Liu Chuxue smiled: "It's mutual. You and Wenbin would practically keep the little ones in your mouths. Naturally, I must return the favor. Isn't that right?"
Wei Dainiang touched the fabric in her hands: "Alright, then we'll shamelessly accept it. Wenbin, thank your auntie."
After Wei Wenbin thanked Liu Chuxue very solemnly: "Grandma, Auntie, I'll go watch over Fu Bao and the others and do my homework."
Once he left, Wei Dainiang and Liu Chuxue began discussing tomorrow's menu.
Liu Chuxue pointed to the pig liver, pig heart, pig lungs, and a large chunk of pork belly she had brought back: "I thought we'd braise a pot of meat tonight."
"Tomorrow, just slice and plate it for serving. In the morning, boil some eggs, peel them, and put them in the braising liquid. It'll surely be delicious."
Remembering something, she added: "I've already arranged with someone to save two fish for us tomorrow morning. I'll go pick them up. We'll braise one and make some fish balls so the little ones can have a bit too."
Hearing the triplets could eat, Wei Dainiang immediately perked up: "Alright. It's cold; make plenty. Freezing them outside won't spoil them."
Liu Chuxue thought making fish balls was quite laborious: "Auntie, after lunch, I'll go out again. Let's just do it this afternoon to save time tomorrow."
Wei Dainiang had no objection: "Fine. Removing fish bones takes the most time. Fu Bao and the others are small; we must be extra careful. They can taste it tonight."
The two were organizing things while discussing tomorrow's dishes.
Just as they finished tidying up, they heard Wei Wenbin's voice from the next room: "Fu Bao, be good. Big brother is here. Don't cry."
Both hurriedly got up and walked to that room. Sure enough, one cried, and the other two followed.
Yet the three were just wailing without tears. Liu Chuxue found it both funny and annoying: "Alright, stop acting, you three."
