Chapter 1700: Not Bad, This Is Exactly the Effect I Wanted

~4 min read 792 words

That afternoon, when Liu Chuxue was about to leave for school, Fu's mother came over: "You're heading to school?"

"Yes, it's almost time, I was just about to leave for school."

"I've taken a few days off from my unit, and this morning I just handed over some work to someone. I'll still be helping out these next few days, so just focus on your studies."

It would be a lie to say she wasn't touched: "Then thank you, Mom."

Fu's mother waved her hand: "What's there to be so polite with me? Hurry off to class, I'm heading in now."

Just like that, for the next three days Fu's mother came over in the morning and went back in the evening. The three little ones' good behavior made Fu's mother exclaim that her grandchildren were far too sensible, and it broke her heart.

Seeing that Wei's grandmother could really handle the children on her own with room to spare, Fu's mother finally set her mind at ease and went back to work.

Still, she came by once in the morning and once in the evening, getting close to her grandchildren while seeing if there was anything she could lend a hand with.

Time flew by, and soon it was the weekend.

After breakfast in the morning, Liu Chuxue took Wei Wenbin out the door. The triplets wanted to tag along too, but she refused—though she did promise them a treat: once the bicycle was bought, she'd take them to Beihai Park in the afternoon.

The little ones were thrilled at the news they could go out and play.

With the ticket and the money in hand, buying the bicycle went smoothly. After adjusting the seat height to suit Wei Wenbin's stature, she pushed the bike to the nearby police station to get the steel stamp.

Wei Wenbin was in a state of excitement the whole time, the smile never leaving his face.

Liu Chuxue didn't head straight home, but took him to a repair shop: "Gramps, are the things I ordered from you a few days ago ready?"

The moment the repairman saw Liu Chuxue, he grinned—after all, she was his big client, having ordered three children's bicycle seats in one go: "Ready, ready, just been waiting for you."

Wei Wenbin looked at the seats the repairman brought out: "With these, it'll be so much more convenient."

Three seats—two of them identical, meant to be mounted on the front crossbar, and one meant for the rear seat.

The repairman even enthusiastically helped them tie everything on: "How about it, take a look, satisfied?"

Liu Chuxue gave it a shake: "Not bad, this is exactly the effect I wanted."

This was something she had designed herself, and had commissioned the repairman at this shop to make privately. Liu Chuxue paid up cheerfully, and the repairman beamed so wide his eyes disappeared: "Comrade, to tell you the truth, people saw me making these, and quite a few have already placed orders with me."

When she first placed the order, Liu Chuxue had told him that once he made hers, people would definitely come to him for orders.

So now the two bicycles—one had seats fitted both front and back, able to carry two children, and the other had a seat fitted in front, carrying a child up front while Wei's grandmother could ride on the back seat. Going out to play was going to be so much more convenient.

Wei Wenbin might be young, but his cycling skills were actually quite good.

If they needed to go somewhere farther, it was far easier than pushing a stroller, and even if they didn't ride and just pushed it, it saved a lot of effort.

The moment they stepped into the courtyard, the three little ones spotted the little seats on the bicycles and immediately got impatient: "Mama, ride bike, ride bike!"

With no choice, the two of them had to push the three little ones out first to get their fill.

And only after promising again that they were going to Beihai Park in the afternoon did the children finally settle down and head home.

Ever since the little seats were fitted on the bikes, they hadn't spent a weekend at home, unless it happened to rain.

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye a whole month had passed.

The people Liu Chuxue had asked Fu Yan Cheng to find had finally all arrived.

On the day Fu Yan Cheng had leave, he brought the people back—but it wasn't only his comrade who came, but also the comrade's wife.

Liu Chuxue first warmly invited them inside, then looked at Fu Yan Cheng and asked in a lip-read whisper: "What's going on?"
