Chapter 1749: I Have Something Very Important to Tell You
After Ma Wuliang's wedding banquet, Jiang Xiaofang became a regular visitor at Liu Chuxue's place.
When Liu Chuxue had nothing to do, she would stay home drawing blueprints, look after the kids, or take a stroll over to her private plot to help Granny Wei pick some vegetables to bring back.
The triplets were growing well and were smart, and Liu Chuxue was generous—when children from the family compound came over to play with the triplets, she would always hand out little snacks to everyone, and invite the parents in to sit, with plenty of tea and water.
For a time, Liu Chuxue's place was even more lively than the little square.
As for Fu Yan Cheng, he had been in high spirits every day these past few days; not only the regiment but even the brother regiments hadn't missed the chance to tease him.
Days flew by, and one day Liu Chuxue prepared to ride her bicycle to the village, intending to find the local craftsmen to help her weave a batch of willow baskets and thorn baskets. As she passed the grove at the village entrance, her sharp ears caught some movement deep in Lin Zi, so she released her spiritual sense to look over.
The result nearly gave her a sty in the eye.
Just as she was about to withdraw her gaze, she noticed that the bird's nest on a nearby tree actually had something hidden inside.
She suddenly thought of those sneaky people who had been searching around this area before, and of the previous enemy agent case.
She didn't know whether the two people under the tree were just having an affair, or whether it had something to do with what was in the bird's nest above.
Seeing the two of them wouldn't be finished anytime soon, Liu Chuxue figured she'd go handle her business first and deal with it when she got back.
To avoid arousing suspicion, she didn't look for anyone in Baifu Village, but instead went to the more secluded Bai Lian Village.
After asking around all the way to the basket-weaver's home, upon hearing her say she wanted fifty, the man was a bit disbelieving: "Comrade, you really want this many baskets? You're not pulling my leg?"
Liu Chuxue laughed: "I really do want this many. If you don't believe me, I can pay a deposit first."
Hearing that a deposit would be paid, the old man was now truly convinced. They agreed on delivery in one month, and only then did Liu Chuxue leave.
But with something weighing on her mind, she pedaled her bicycle furiously all the way back.
Returning to the edge of that grove, she found the two people had already left.
She pushed her bicycle to a hidden spot and headed straight into the depths of Lin Zi.
After finding that tree, she looked up at the bird's nest.
Confirming there really was something in the bird's nest, she hesitated—should she take it down and look at it herself before deciding, or let Fu Yan Cheng bring his men over?
Thinking of how so many people had been searching this area before, she turned and walked back out of Lin Zi.
She didn't go straight back to the family compound, but instead went to the army side: "Comrade, I'm looking for Fu Yan Cheng. I'm his wife."
The young soldier on duty gave Liu Chuxue a salute: "Hello, sister-in-law. Please wait a moment."
A phone call was transferred to Fu Yan Cheng: "Regimental Commander Fu, sister-in-law is here looking for you. She's at the main gate."
Fu Yan Cheng took the call and immediately got up to head out.
He knew in his heart that unless it was something important, Liu Chuxue wouldn't come to the army to find him.
He couldn't help quickening his pace: "Wife, what brings you here?"
Liu Chuxue gave him a meaningful look: "I have something very important to tell you."
After walking a few steps forward, Liu Chuxue finally said: "About that previous enemy agent case—after Chen Tiantian's father and that scientific researcher were murdered, those research materials were never found, right?"
This matter wasn't a secret, so it was no surprise Liu Chuxue knew about it.
Fu Yan Cheng looked around, then lowered his voice and asked: "Did you discover something?"
Liu Chuxue gave a slight nod, without the slightest guilt: "I was just about to go to the village to exchange for some things. When passing that grove outside Baifu Village, I heard some sounds I shouldn't have. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see who it was, and accidentally noticed the bird's nest on a tree not far from that pair of wild mandarin ducks looked off."
