Chapter 175: The Village Primary School Needs to Recruit Teachers

~4 min read 769 words

These past few days, only one mason remained in the courtyard to build the wall, while everyone else worked on the retaining slopes at the front and back. Fortunately, the cement Fu Yan Cheng had brought earlier was sufficient, and so much river sand had been delivered as well, allowing the entire project to be completed in one go.

Thinking of this, Liu Chuxue felt a bit concerned about Fu Yan Cheng, mainly because she still needed to borrow his connections to buy glass.

Just as she was thinking, she heard her own sister's voice: "Chuxue."

Looking up, she saw Xia Qiu walking in: "Sister, why have you come over?"

Xia Qiu held up what she was carrying: "Uncle Ninth has finished making the cane for Father as you asked. I brought it over so Father can move in and out more freely."

After speaking, she handed the cane to Liu's father: "Father, try it. Uncle Ninth said if the height isn't suitable, he'll modify it for you."

Xia Qiu looked at the nearly finished courtyard: "With such a fine courtyard, it's no wonder Auntie tried to persuade Grandfather and Grandmother to come live here."

Hearing these words, Liu Chuxue said: "Knowing it's impossible, yet still saying it to annoy people, they really are dreaming."

Hearing her sister's words, Xia Qiu laughed directly: "You, oh you."

At this moment, Qiu Shaofeng walked in, wiping sweat from his brow: "Didn't I say not to let you come over here?"

Xia Qiu smiled gracefully: "It's fine. The courtyard is almost tidied up, and I'll be careful myself. Don't worry."

Liu's father interjected then: "In the afternoon, you two should tidy up and head back. You've already been delayed for several days."

Originally, they had wanted to let them return that day, but Qiu Shaofeng said his great-grandmother had instructed him to help out at his in-laws' for a few days, since building a house is a major matter.

Their good intentions aside, there truly needed to be a man to handle things inside and out, which would make things easier for Liu Chuxue, so she agreed as well.

Xia Qiu stood at the courtyard gate looking out: "The retaining slopes should be finished in another two or three days. Father, when do you plan to move in?"

Liu's father instinctively glanced at Liu Chuxue: "There are still quite a few miscellaneous tasks left; we probably won't be able to move in until the end of June or early July. I just told your sister that by the time she gets her graduation certificate, we should be able to move in."

Xia Qiu then remembered: "Chuxue, while your brother-in-law is here to handle things these days, if you have time, read more. You can't delay your important matters."

At this moment, Liu's father thought of something: "By the way, your Party Secretary Grandfather said the village primary school needs to recruit two teachers, and he mentioned seeing if you would be willing."

Hearing this, Xia Qiu immediately turned to look at Liu Chuxue: "This is truly wonderful. Being a teacher is great; you don't have to work in the fields under wind and sun, the work points given are quite high, and most importantly, it's close to home, so Father and the others can rest easy."

Liu Chuxue nodded: "Indeed, it's quite good."

She truly hadn't thought about returning home to work in the fields for work points, since she really couldn't do it and didn't want to. Joining the village primary school as a teacher was quite nice; she could take care of the family, earn full work points, and most importantly, she could still go up the mountain to roam on weekends. Nothing could be better.

Enjoy two years of freedom, then go to university when the college entrance exam resumes, build a career. How beautiful.

Liu's father remembered something: "Your Party Secretary Grandfather said the commune will send someone over to set the exam papers, and the educated youth in the village will also take the exam. Remember to review well. He will announce this matter during the morning assembly today."

Liu Chuxue nodded: "I understand."

The fact that they were notified in advance was already a favor; she had thought of this long ago. It was impossible for them to simply give her the spot directly. In fact, she had just wanted to ask.

She could think of it, and naturally the two people present thought of it too. She heard Liu's father say: "If it really happens, remember your Party Secretary Grandfather's favor later."
