Chapter 1757: Believe It or Not

Fu's mother cooperated readily; Liu Chuxue asked her sister-in-law to help lift her clothes, then she dipped a finger into the badger fat, took some out, and gently applied it. Since the area was large, this application used up a third of the badger fat.

However, Fu's mother's previously burning lower back felt much more comfortable, cool and moist.

The old Chinese doctor had said earlier that badger fat could relieve pain and repair skin: "Mom, this badger fat is very oily; the clothes will surely get stained."

Fu's mother spoke up: "Even if the clothes don't get stained with oil, they can't be worn anyway. My waist is injured, so the back of the clothes surely won't be in good shape either."

Fu Yanwan said: "Your eldest sister-in-law will go home and bring you some clean clothes to change into. If that's not possible, I'll go ask the nurse for some gauze to tie around you later, so it won't rub against your clothes."

Fu's mother then spoke: "Actually, this badger fat seems truly effective. I don't feel that burning pain as much as before."

Fu Yanwan joked: "Mom, I know you want to praise your fourth daughter-in-law, but you're exaggerating too much."

Fu's mother rolled her eyes at her own daughter: "Believe it or not, I'm telling the truth."

Seeing her own mother speak so seriously, not like she was joking, Fu Yanwan asked: "Is it really effective?"

Others might not know, but Liu Chuxue certainly did. She spoke: "That old Chinese doctor said badger fat is useful for minor skin breaks or surface redness and swelling. It relieves pain and repairs the skin.

But for muscle strains or the soreness and swelling after a fall, it's basically useless. It can't penetrate the muscles or deep layers, so it can't treat those kinds of injuries."

Just as she finished speaking, the woman in the next bed started causing trouble again: "Hey, girl, smear some of that ointment on me too. My lower legs are all covered in bruises; it hurts terribly when I press them."

Liu Chuxue didn't want any interaction with her: "Badger fat has no effect on bruises. Besides, if I smear it on you and something goes wrong, we can't bear that responsibility."

Hearing this, the woman said: "You really are stingy. It's just a little badger fat, yet you make up this excuse to trick me."

Liu Chuxue couldn't hold back anymore: "You can't go a moment without causing trouble, can you? Who are you to us? Why should we indulge you? Your brain really isn't working properly."

Hearing her called out for having a brain that wasn't working properly, the woman got angry too: "How are you speaking? No matter what, I'm of an age where I could be your elder..."

Liu Chuxue raised her hand to stop her from continuing: "We are strangers. You still want to be my elder? You really dare to think that."

The woman got even angrier: "My age is right here in front of you; how can I not be your elder?"

Just as the woman wanted to say something else, her son, who had just returned from outside, called out to stop her: "I was only out for a moment, and you've already caused trouble again. Can't you just be quiet for a while?"

Regarding her son's words, the woman still yielded, but her expression showed great reluctance. She whispered to her son: "I just wanted to use some of the badger fat from her hand, but..."

Her son, hearing this, showed embarrassment on his face: "Badger fat is so hard to find. Smearing it on your injury won't help anyway. Besides, isn't it normal that they wouldn't let you use something they worked so hard to get?"

Unexpectedly, her son didn't take her side again, so the woman got even angrier.

Fu Yan Cheng really couldn't listen anymore. He directly gave the woman a cold look: "You want to be an elder to my wife? Did you ask me?"

The woman didn't expect Fu Yan Cheng to argue with a woman like her: "I didn't, I didn't mean to."

Fu Yan Cheng raised his fist and swung it through the air, then looked at the person accompanying the patient opposite: "Take care of your mother. Don't let her cause trouble for no reason again."
