Chapter 1785: Alright, I Took Things for Granted
Fu Yan Cheng listened to her finish, then hesitated and said, "It wouldn't be appropriate for the military district to lead this. If you insist on doing it, you might as well ask the city's Women's Federation to take the lead."
Liu Chuxue heard this, slapped her own forehead, and said, "I was truly confused."
Indeed, she had taken things for granted, thinking only of "combining military and civilian efforts, combining peace and war," planning to produce sanitary pads during peacetime so that in an emergency they could switch to producing degreased cotton, alcohol cotton, medical cotton, disinfectant cotton balls, gauze pads, hemostatic pads, and wound care supplies; all these were medical materials, which could also be considered combining peace and war and providing logistical support.
But she had overlooked that people's thinking at the time was still very conservative, and this use might indeed be somewhat inappropriate for a righteous unit like the army.
Liu Chuxue nodded lightly and said, "Alright, I took things for granted."
Fu Yan Cheng embraced her, then gently patted her back and said, "Don't be discouraged either. Since you personally lack the ability to accomplish this at the current stage, go through the city Women's Federation and let them find a way to get the government involved, or let capable individuals get involved."
Liu Chuxue thought it over and agreed; she did want to participate in this matter, but the source of funding was uncertain: "Alright, I'll write a detailed proposal later. You help me find some people, and when the time comes, introduce me to the leaders of the city Women's Federation to see if cooperation is possible."
Fu Yan Cheng kissed the top of her head and said, "Good."
The two talked for a while longer before falling into a deep sleep.
The next day, after breakfast, Fu Yan Cheng contacted Zhang Xiangyang again, and they agreed to go see the house at ten in the morning.
The two originally did not want to take the children along, but the three little ones, upon hearing they were going out, insisted on coming no matter what.
Thinking that Fu Yan Cheng had driven a car today, which was convenient, they had no choice but to take the three little ones along.
When they arrived, someone was already waiting there. Liu Chuxue looked and saw that the house was located north of the school's east gate shop, less than a ten-minute walk away.
The one who opened the door was a neighbor from the house next door: "I live in the courtyard next door; my surname is Jiang."
From her conversation, Liu Chuxue then learned that the house had been empty for a long time, and the owner had left a key in her hands.
This courtyard was originally a two-courtyard residence of a wealthy family, but was later sold separately to two households. The other household did not want to share the same entrance, so they directly rebuilt the small back gate and changed to enter from the back.
Previously, the second courtyard was divided in two, half for each family, which is why this house has a backyard.
Although no one had lived in this courtyard, it was clear that someone frequently came to maintain it, and Liu Chuxue took a liking to the courtyard at first glance.
Moreover, Zhang Xiangyang had said that if they wanted the furniture inside the house, it would be left to them as well, and the price was negotiable.
Liu Chuxue looked; although the furniture was not made of precious materials, it was all high-quality red pine and looked like it had hardly been used.
After the couple discussed it, they decided to keep the furniture as well.
Since it was not easy to discuss over the phone, they agreed that Zhang Xiangyang's aunt would come over tomorrow, and they would talk face-to-face then.
Fu Yan Cheng had to return to the military district in the afternoon, so Liu Chuxue would make the final decision on this matter.
When leaving the house, the three little ones insisted on going to play, so the couple took them to the Purple Bamboo Garden Park, which had a cement elephant slide, seesaws, and swings, and where one could also row boats.
To let them play to their heart's content, they did not go back for lunch; fortunately, it was a cloudy day, so they did not have to play under the scorching sun.
Seeing the smiles on the three little ones' faces, the couple exchanged a glance and felt it was worth it.
