Chapter 1826: You Are My Wife; If I Don't Treat You Well, Who Should I Treat Well?

~4 min read 762 words

Hearing Fu Yan Cheng's words, Liu Chuxue said, "Then what are we waiting for? Hurry and find a place to make a phone call."

Fu Yan Cheng didn't ask why she was in such a rush; looking ahead, he said, "I remember there's a newsstand just ahead with a public phone. I'll find a spot to park in a moment."

Liu Chuxue gave a soft "Mm" and asked, "Don't you have anything you want to ask?"

Glancing at the rearview mirror while pulling over to the roadside, Fu Yan Cheng said, "You'll say it when you're ready. Besides, you're the boss at home. Whatever you do, I'll support you."

Hearing this, Liu Chuxue felt pleased. "You know how to talk. I'll explain the details when we get back."

After speaking, she opened the car door and got out.

After dialing, she heard the voice on the other end say, "Liu Chuxue, how is it over there?"

Liu Chuxue replied, "Did something happen? You sound quite anxious."

Jiang Wenyue let out a sigh. "I suppose nothing can be hidden from you. Someone else has taken an interest in that factory we wanted. We're worried that delaying might bring complications, so we want to get the paperwork done quickly to avoid any mishaps later."

Liu Chuxue didn't doubt Jiang Wenyue's words. "Alright, I'll bring the money to you tomorrow noon."

At the other end of the line, Jiang Wenyue slapped the table. "Good, straightforward. I'll be waiting."

After chatting a few more moments, they hung up the phone.

When she got back in the car, Fu Yan Cheng took a military coat from the back seat and handed it to her. "Put it on; it'll keep you warmer."

Although Liu Chuxue didn't feel particularly cold, this was Fu Yan Cheng's kindness, so she naturally wouldn't refuse. "You're still the one who treats me best."

Fu Yan Cheng's lips curled upward. "You're my wife. If I don't treat you well, who should I treat well?"

Liu Chuxue recalled what he had said earlier. "Are you on leave these days, or do you have something to handle in the city?"

Fu Yan Cheng nodded. "There's some official business to attend to, and it just so happens I can stay home for a few days."

Liu Chuxue understood; this fellow must have snatched some task from somewhere again. So she turned and kept staring at him.

Feeling stared at, Fu Yan Cheng raised his white flag. "Alright, alright, I'll tell you."

Liu Chuxue smiled at him. "Then confess quickly."

Fu Yan Cheng said affectionately, "Since you've been taking exams these past few days, I originally planned to apply for leave. But I happened to overhear the division commander on the phone at the gate, so I volunteered to take it on."

He couldn't say exactly what the matter was, but he had to let his wife know his eager concern for her.

Hearing this, Liu Chuxue didn't press further; after all, the army had its discipline, and as a military spouse, she had to uphold the rules even more.

By the time they arrived home, it was already late, yet the three little ones hadn't gone to bed.

Upon entering, they saw Le Bao riding on Zhui Feng's back, laughing, while Fu Bao, following behind, kept chanting, "Sister, it's my turn to ride. You should get down."

Le Bao not only refused to get down but also reached out to hug the dog's neck. "I'm not getting down. Younger brother can't ride Zhui Feng; let me ride."

Auntie Wei, finding it hard to watch, said, "Le Bao, you've already ridden far beyond your time limit. It's your brother's turn now."

Seeing Auntie Wei on his side, Fu Bao said, "Le Bao, Mom also said to be a trustworthy child."

Le Bao originally didn't want to get down, but hearing her brother say that, she replied, "Alright."

Just as she was about to climb down from Zhui Feng, she saw her parents returning.

In her panic, she fell straight off the dog's back.

No one expected Kang Bao, who had been standing aside watching them play, to rush over immediately, preventing Le Bao from landing on her bottom.

Fu Bao, a beat slower in his reaction, reached out to lend a hand, finally helping Le Bao stand steadily.

The little one was startled; her big, watery eyes looked at the person who had steadied her. "Thank you, younger brother and older brother."

Seeing this scene, Liu Chuxue's heart melted; whoever tasted it would know how sweet it was.
