Chapter 211: Fear Brings What You Fear
Seeing him anxious, Liu Chuxue quickly replied, "Don't worry, I'm fine."
Seeing she was truly fine, Fu Yan Cheng turned to the comrades participating in the capture mission and said, "These people are no simpletons; tie them up tight and keep a close watch on them."
Having finished speaking, he glanced at the watch on his wrist, lowered his voice, and spoke rapidly to Liu Chuxue, "In twenty minutes, the public bus back to the county will depart. I have a mission today and cannot see you off; be careful yourself. I'll come see you once I'm done."
Liu Chuxue could understand, and the commotion not far away was becoming increasingly tense; she did not want to delay his work: "Go get busy, don't worry about me, and stay safe."
Fu Yan Cheng nodded at her, turned, and sped toward the back, as the situation over there had escalated further.
Liu Chuxue actually wanted to follow, but there was still a mess at home; if she waited any longer, she would truly miss the bus. She also feared that following would distract Fu Yan Cheng. With a decisive heart, she hoisted her basket onto her back and headed for the station.
After buying a ticket and boarding, thinking she would get off halfway, she sat directly in the front seats.
After waiting over ten minutes, the bus started and left the station.
As the bus traveled out of the city, Liu Chuxue remained worried about Fu Yan Cheng, thinking: I wonder how things are over there; has the mission ended?
The person she worried about had just finished arranging and deploying: "Deputy Regiment Commander Gong, everything is arranged."
Deputy Regiment Commander Gong, his face dark, said, "Someone must know about today's operation; otherwise, these two fools wouldn't have appeared here for no reason."
"I've already sent someone to go back and report the news personally; I'm afraid a phone call might leak the information."
"Good, then let's put on a grand show for them."
Hearing this, Deputy Regiment Commander Gong shouted to the big man holding the hostage over there, "We can give you the vehicle, but you must guarantee the hostage's safety."
The people on the other side were at their wit's end and perhaps had nothing left to lose: "Cut the nonsense; hurry up and drive the car over here for us."
They actually wanted the jeep nearby, but none of them could drive it, so they had to settle for a sidecar tricycle.
Soon, the sidecar tricycle they requested was brought to them.
The man holding Jiang Xiaoya hostage first grabbed her and climbed into the sidecar's cargo bed; then the tallest man sat backward in the driver's seat of the sidecar tricycle; finally, the other thin man, holding Shen Yanru hostage, climbed on and sat down.
The man driving the sidecar tricycle shouted loudly, "Everyone back off, back off."
While shouting, he kicked the engine to life with one foot, and before everyone had fully moved aside, he floored the accelerator and rushed out.
Fu Yan Cheng and the others had considered having the sniper take a shot while they boarded, but they had hostages in their hands; if they couldn't kill them with a single shot, the hostages would be in even greater danger.
Moreover, there were three of them; they feared the men might do something extreme. After all, the department store building was right ahead; if anything went wrong, the consequences would be unthinkable.
They could only take a detour.
Once the sidecar tricycle left, Fu Yan Cheng and Deputy Regiment Commander Gong led their men into a jeep to chase after them: "Look, the direction they are heading is toward Shunyi."
Fu Yan Cheng did not reply; he actually hoped they would head toward Shunyi. After all, people are selfish; the young lady was on the public bus returning to Changping, and naturally, he did not want these people to go that way.
But fear brings what you fear; just as they were about to enter Shunyi, the sidecar tricycle turned a corner. Fu Yan Cheng, furious, punched the car door directly.
Immediately after, he raised his wrist to check the time, hoping the public bus had departed on time today, praying for fewer passengers getting on and off along the way. Thinking of what might happen, he involuntarily clenched both fists.
