Chapter 214: Still Let That Person Slip Through the Net
Liu Chuxue did not take the incident on the bus to heart, but she never expected that this little girl would later save her eldest sister's life; of course, that is a story for later.
It was just as the driver started the car, preparing to head to the police station, that he heard gunshots.
This terrified everyone; the conductor shouted toward the front: "Brother Lu, quick, quick, drive away."
But as soon as the car darted out, a police car and a Jiefang heavy truck came straight at them, filled with armed public security officers and soldiers.
The driver no longer hurried to call the police; he pulled the car over to the side: "See that? These public security officers and soldiers must be going to catch those people just now, so we don't need to report the case either; let's just wait here first."
Afterward, several more gunshots were heard, followed by someone shouting: "Don't come over."
Many people on the bus got off to watch the spectacle; some even dared to run over, causing the driver to panic: "Don't go over there, do you want to lose your lives?"
But those people simply would not listen, thinking that since there were so many public security officers and soldiers on the bus just now, how could there still be any danger?
They merely underestimated that among those few bad elements, two had undergone special training; as the sidecar tricycle arrived, the man sitting in the sidecar directly dragged the hostage in his hands off the vehicle, then said to the other two: "Damn it, those people are chasing us; now we can only split up. You take that woman and go forward."
Those two were utterly devoted to this man and resolutely executed the order, dragging the woman: "Big brother, let's meet at our old place; take care of yourself."
Indeed, this man was quite capable; even though those people had split up to encircle them, he still managed to become a fish that slipped through the net.
The man dragged Jiang Xiaoya by the back of her collar across the irrigation ditch on the opposite side of the road; Liu Chuxue, with sharp eyes, noticed something was wrong. She immediately released her spiritual power to look over, and upon confirming it was indeed the man who had been sitting in the sidecar of the tricycle earlier, alarm bells rang loudly in her mind.
That person had a weapon in his hand; whether he returned later to hijack this bus again or escaped back into the city along the irrigation ditch, the consequences were too terrifying to imagine.
But now that some passengers had gotten off the bus, even if they let the driver drive away, it was probably unrealistic; if the commotion here alerted that person, he might, in a fit of impulse, take his anger out on the people here.
But letting him escape back into the city would be even more dangerous; finding him again would likely not be easy, yet she could not possibly follow him alone and take the risk.
Just as she was thinking about what to do, she saw someone riding that sidecar tricycle over; when she clearly saw who was coming, she was suddenly overjoyed.
She stood up, turned around, and got off the bus; to avoid alerting the snake, she did not walk toward the sidecar tricycle but stood at the side of the bus, waving continuously toward that direction.
Perhaps it was a case of telepathy; after Fu Yan Cheng saw her gesture, he stomped the accelerator to the floor, executed a beautiful drift, and stopped right beside Liu Chuxue.
Before Fu Yan Cheng could speak, Liu Chuxue leaned close to him and whispered: "I noticed movement in the irrigation ditch on the opposite side of the river, and it is very likely not just one person."
Fu Yan Cheng instructed a soldier behind him: "Have everyone get on the car; you stay here and be responsible for their safety."
Then he looked at the other two: "You two come with me."
A second before charging out, he looked at Liu Chuxue: "Stay here; absolutely do not run around."
Having finished speaking, he rushed quickly toward the opposite side of the river, and while running, he said to the two soldiers following behind: "Be ready to find cover at all times."
