Chapter 242: Naturally Guessed the Matter Was Not Simple
Liu's mother and Liu Chuxue exchanged a glance; they hadn't expected Qu Aihua to pull such a stunt.
Liu's mother spoke first: "Aihua, I understand your purpose in coming today. To be honest, we have no objections to you or Qiangzi, but there is absolutely no question of reconciliation between us and your in-laws. We do not wish to invite trouble again, so please understand."
Qu Aihua hadn't expected the second aunt, usually so forbearing, to stand her ground: "Second Aunt, I understand. However, my in-laws and I have divided the household. From now on, let us treat each other as ordinary villagers."
With words spoken to this extent, Liu's mother had nothing more to say and led her inside for a quick tour.
Qu Aihua had wanted to help, but Liu's mother dared not let her, so she politely declined.
The reason Qu Aihua made this trip was simply that she saw the second branch rising and didn't want to make enemies; as for becoming friends, she knew well it would be difficult. She came today merely to express her stance.
She had figured it out: Liu Chuxue was capable. Even if they couldn't be friends for the sake of the children, she absolutely couldn't let the second branch turn them and her husband into opponents.
Seeing her purpose for coming today was achieved, she didn't make things difficult for anyone and soon took her leave.
After a simple lunch, Liu Chuxue found two carrying baskets and called Fu Yan Cheng to go up the mountain together.
Fu Yan Cheng was surprisingly at ease, greeting anyone he met along the way, which made Liu Chuxue feel a bit uncomfortable, so she quickly sped up her pace into the mountain.
Once they were alone, a curve appeared at the corner of Fu Yan Cheng's lips: "Why are you walking so fast?"
Liu Chuxue was too lazy to argue with him and simply changed the subject: "The water pool we're going to is a bit far. Besides, we need to cast the net. If we arrive too late, it will affect your return to Huicheng."
Fu Yan Cheng replied with a single sentence: "Who said I'm going back tonight?"
Liu Chuxue was stunned: "You're not going back?"
Fu Yan Cheng said solemnly: "Our relationship has become public knowledge in the village. Now that there is trouble at home, I must stay to help. If I go back tonight, I'll have to come again tomorrow. Going back and forth is too troublesome."
These words were indeed sound. Liu Chuxue wasn't a local. Since he had already said his family would come to propose in a few days, she didn't object: "As you wish."
Seeing that Liu Chuxue wasn't driving him away, Fu Yan Cheng's lips curled high, and he felt extremely pleased inside.
Remembering something, he looked around, moved closer to Liu Chuxue, and said: "That Yan Qingshuang who had you harmed, and that Ge Baocheng who knocked you out—I had someone send them to the farm."
Liu Chuxue looked curious: "Where were they before?"
A hint of sarcasm flashed across Fu Yan Cheng's face: "The Chen family used their connections to get Yan Qingshuang to serve her sentence in prison. There's a cloth-shoe workshop inside where she wouldn't be exposed to wind or sun, and they even arranged a light job for her."
"How did you manage to transfer them to the farm?"
Fu Yan Cheng chuckled lightly: "She felt protected by someone, so naturally, it was easy for her to offend people."
Liu Chuxue understood now: "Good. Thank you for taking revenge for me."
After claiming credit, Fu Yan Cheng reached out and took Liu Chuxue's hand: "People with such wrong intentions deserve to suffer some hardship; otherwise, it's hard to quell the anger in my heart."
Meanwhile, Yan Qingshuang herself, the very person they were discussing, was racking her brains in confusion. She had been doing fine at the shoe factory; how did a small quarrel with someone result in her being sent to the farm?
By the time the Chen family received the news, the person had already been sent there. Chen Jiefang tried to use connections to smooth things over, but it was too late to turn things around.
However, Chen Jiefang wasn't foolish; he naturally guessed that this matter was not simple.
