Chapter 248: We Must Cherish Our Good Fortune

~4 min read 778 words

On their first night in the new house, the whole family was in high spirits.

Except for Liu Chuxue, whose mood remained relatively calm, both Xia Qiu and Qiu Shaofeng were extremely excited; after all, which in-laws would reserve rooms for their married daughter and son-in-law, yet theirs had.

Previously, their father-in-law had stated that this room belonged to the couple and that they should return often whenever they had time.

Although returning frequently might not be feasible, those words truly warmed the couple's hearts.

After Father Liu and Mother Liu returned to their room, it took them quite a while to calm down: "Husband, are we really living in a brick-and-tile house now?"

Father Liu drew the curtains: "Yes, I also feel a sense of unreality; if not for the blessing of our second daughter, I would never have dared to imagine this."

"Our Chuxue—no, our entire family—has found blessing through misfortune; we must cherish this good fortune."

"Right, let's worry no more; from now on, we'll just stay by our three daughters' side. Our life is no worse than that of families with sons; let's stop talking about recruiting a son-in-law and just let everything take its natural course."

"Alright, I'll listen to you; from now on, I have you to accompany me."

As she spoke, she leaned closer; Liu Shanliang, already too excited to feel sleepy, looked at his wife who seemed somewhat younger and could no longer hold himself back: "Wife, you truly suffered following me in the past; from now on, I will make it up to you properly."

Mother Liu felt somewhat shy, her face turning immediately red.

This made Liu even less able to control himself: "Wife, Lamei, it has been so long since we..."

With husband full of affection and wife equally willing, especially on such a joyous occasion, their feelings naturally flowed deeply as they journeyed together to Wushan.

Chunxiao, however, felt somewhat excited and found herself unable to sleep for a while.

Because her family had moved into a brick-and-tile house, many classmates envied her, and their attitude toward her was no longer like before.

Meanwhile, Liu Chuxue, separated from them by only one wall, closed the doors and windows tightly before directly entering her space.

The two beehives inside the space were now ready for honey harvesting; honey water aids bowel movements and boosts immunity, and since her elder sister and brother-in-law were leaving early tomorrow morning, she wanted to prepare some for them to take back.

She had previously prepared empty canned jars inside the space, which could now be put to good use.

First, she equipped herself, took a wooden bucket and a rope, grabbed a knife, and headed toward the mountain behind; the bees she had previously collected had now constructed over a dozen beehives within the space.

Carrying the rope with the bucket tied to it, she climbed up a tree, located the largest beehive, and then pulled the bucket up.

After cutting away the outermost honeycomb cells that contained no honey, she skillfully harvested the honeycomb; seeing that she had cut enough, she carefully lowered the bucket down first.

Having gone through considerable trouble, she first filled two canned jars for her elder sister; after processing the rest, she stored it in an earthen basin to be bottled later when more jars were found.

After accomplishing these tasks, she took a look at the various trees she had planted earlier; the dates on the jujube trees were already showing red, indicating they were ready to be eaten crisp, so she picked quite a few and stored them in the space warehouse, leaving the rest to ripen naturally.

However, these crisp dates could not be taken out just yet, since dates outside the space were not yet edible, and she did not want to invite trouble upon herself.

According to the time flow within the space, the jujube trees inside would be ready for harvest in another half month; once dried, she could send some to her elder sister, as eating more of them would benefit a pregnant woman.

Only after tidying everything up did she exit the space and go to sleep.

The next day, before dawn, she heard movement in the kitchen; Liu Chuxue did not linger in bed but quickly got up and went out: "Mom, why did you get up so early?"

Mother Liu, beaming with a smile and speaking in a hushed tone, replied: "Your elder sister and brother-in-law need to leave early for the North Suburb Farm; I must prepare earlier, or I'm afraid they might miss their timing if it gets too late."
