Chapter 324: First Visit to Express Gratitude
Under her mother's relentless urging, Liu Chuxue finally got out of bed.
After washing up and getting ready, her mother had already served breakfast: "Eat quickly, so we can set off after finishing."
Chuxue took a two-grain vegetable cake: "The Qiu family is holding a wedding today; if you arrive early, you'll have to chat with people. Why be so eager?"
Chunxiao was smart for once: "Mom is visiting Big Sister's home for the first time, of course she's anxious."
Liu's mother gave her youngest daughter a glare: "If you don't speak, no one will think you're mute."
Soon, the whole family packed up and left the house.
If it were just Chuxue alone, she could cross the mountain in half an hour; Liu's father and mother were fine, but Chunxiao didn't have such stamina; near the halfway point of the mountain, she said: "I can't walk anymore, let's rest for a while."
Chuxue turned and glanced at her: "Walk ten more minutes; rest when crossing the mountain, there's a place to sit over there; don't forget you're wearing new clothes today."
To avoid soiling her new clothes, Chunxiao resigned herself and followed along to the place Chuxue mentioned.
Liu's mother looked at the Northern Suburb Farm below the mountain: "Since the Northern Suburb Farm was built, the people of Guangming Village and Qianjin Village have had much better lives than before; previously, those two villages weren't as wealthy as our Liu Village, all with earthen-brick houses; now look, the changes are truly great."
Chunxiao pointed below and asked: "Second Sister, where is Big Sister's home?"
Chuxue pointed in a direction: "Right over there; there's a locust tree not far from her house, but with your eyesight, you probably can't see it clearly."
After resting for a while, Liu's mother urged them: "Are you rested yet?"
Liu's father took the lead, stood up, and walked down the mountain.
When they arrived, the Qiu family courtyard was already bustling: "Oh my, Qiu Shaofeng's mother, come out quickly, your in-laws have arrived."
Qiu Fu and Qiu Mu heard these words and hurried out to welcome them: "In-laws, you've arrived, please come inside quickly."
Liu's father and mother smiled and replied: "In-laws, congratulations."
"Thank you, thank you, please come inside; Xia Qiu has been waiting for you for a long time."
Hearing the commotion, Xia Qiu walked out of the room: "Father, Mother, Chuxue, Chunxiao, you've arrived, please come inside quickly."
Qiu Fu, walking behind, said gratefully to Liu's father: "In-laws, the fish Chuxue delivered yesterday truly troubled you."
Chuxue had told Liu's father and mother about delivering the fish when she returned home, and also explained the reason for delivering the fish.
Now hearing the in-laws mention the fish delivery, he didn't want to take credit: "To speak of it, it was that girl Chuxue's good luck; seeing the quantity and size were both suitable, she thought to deliver it to you, which would also add a dish to the meal."
Several people chatted and laughed as they entered the room; after exchanging pleasantries, Liu's father spoke: "In-laws, mother-in-law, there will surely be many things to do today; go attend to your duties, no need to accompany us."
Qiu Fu replied: "Very well, we'll go greet the guests first; you talk properly with Xia Qiu."
Once they left, Liu's mother took out a package of pastries: "Xia Qiu, which room does the old lady stay in? We'll go over to pay our respects."
Xia Qiu pointed from the window: "The east room of the main house."
Taking advantage of the fact that not many people were there yet, Xia Qiu led them to Qiu Tainai's room: "Great-grandmother, my father and mother have come to visit you."
Qiu Tainai was chatting with several elderly old sisters in the room; hearing this, she quickly stood up to welcome Liu's father and Liu's mother inside to sit.
Liu's father and Liu's mother greeted the several old ladies in the room and placed the pastries they brought on the table.
Qiu Tainai saw the pastries: "Oh my, you came, why bring things?"
Though she said this, the smile on her face never faded.
Liu's mother smiled: "Xia Qiu has received much care from you, old one; this is our first visit to express our gratitude; just accept it."
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, they returned to Xia Qiu and the others' room.
