Chapter 349: Before the results are out, don't go around showing off

Liu's father's face was full of pride, though his words remained deeply humble.

After the pleasantries, Deputy Factory Director Gu finally got to the point: "We came today first to thank Liu Chuxue personally, second to get to know the place, and third to deliver a message to Liu Chuxue."

Liu Chuxue had been somewhat puzzled, but seeing the smile on Li Xiaoya's face, she suddenly understood.

As expected, Deputy Factory Director Gu said, "Our steel rolling mill has a recruitment exam next week. Since Liu Chuxue has graduated from high school, she perfectly meets the hiring criteria."

Liu Chuxue was no fool; even in the city, let alone various factories in the county, recruitment came with all sorts of restrictions: "I have a rural household registration; can I still take the exam?"

Li Xiaoya answered her question directly: "Normally you couldn't, but factory leaders each have one recommendation quota. As long as other conditions are met, once you pass, your household registration will naturally be transferred to the factory, so that won't be an issue."

Liu's father and mother hadn't expected such good fortune, but recalling that their daughter had secured a spot at the village primary school just a few days ago, they both turned to look at Liu Chuxue.

Liu Chuxue naturally understood their meaning: "Since Uncle Gu has given me this opportunity, I will certainly try."

Hearing her words, Deputy Factory Director Gu nodded: "This opportunity is indeed rare. If you pass, you will be converted to a regular employee immediately after the three-month probation period."

Liu Chuxue agreed for her own reasons as well; only by leaving the sight of Liu's father, Liu's mother, and the villagers could she utilize the space to improve her family's life. If she worked at the village primary school, she would have to rack her brains just to bring things out.

Deputy Factory Director Gu and the others did not stay long, as it took over an hour to return to the city, and driving at night was too unsafe.

Liu Chuxue did not let them leave empty-handed; she went to the private plot to pick plenty of vegetables they had grown themselves, along with melons and watermelons to take with them. This made Gu Qianshan overjoyed: "Auntie's melons are delicious."

Liu Chuxue pinched his little cheek: "If you like them, come to Auntie's house again next time."

When they came out, many people were standing by the jeep: "Liu Chuxue from the Shanliang family has really hit the jackpot, actually connecting with a big leader from the city."

"Ah, they're out, they're out."

Although they loved gossip, seeing the family approach, they stepped aside.

Only after the Gu family got into the car and left did they crowd over: "Girl Liu Chuxue, what does that big leader do?"

Liu Chuxue was about to say something when Liu's mother spoke up: "How could they tell us what he does? A few days ago, Liu Chuxue helped his little grandson, so he came to express his gratitude."

Someone in the crowd asked, "I heard he brought quite a bit of thanks-gifts."

This time, Liu's mother did not hide it: "Indeed, he brought quite a lot of things."

She simply did not say exactly what he had brought.

In this, she had learned from her second daughter; since everyone already knew, there was no need to hide it. Later, when the family improved their life, it would provide a proper reason, avoiding people talking behind their backs.

After they returned home, Liu's father asked aloud: "Liu Chuxue, if you really pass, what will happen to the job at the village primary school?"

Liu Chuxue smiled: "If I really pass, I will just tell the village cadres the truth. Working at a state-owned factory is definitely better than going to the village primary school; people move upward, and they will understand."

Liu's mother chimed in then: "Let's talk about that after you pass. Didn't you hear Deputy Factory Director Gu say he can only provide the opportunity, but Liu Chuxue must take the exam herself? If you don't pass, even he, as Deputy Factory Director, can do nothing."

So, before the results are out, do not go around showing off."
