Chapter 361: That's a Good Idea

Liu's father and mother, accompanied by Fu Yan Cheng and his wife along with Kong Yizhang, toured the village before heading back.

Along the way, villagers frequently approached to chat; Fu's parents showed no sign of disdain, and when topics interested them, they occasionally replied.

As for Kong Yizhang, after this round, he had obtained the information he sought and planned to go out alone shortly.

Upon arriving home, Liu's father brought out a carrying basket: "Go inside and rest; the meal should be ready soon. I..."

Before he could finish speaking, Fu's father asked: "In-law, where are you going?"

Liu's father smiled: "Chuxue planted a few watermelon seedlings in the private plot; perhaps due to the fresh soil, quite a few watermelons have borne fruit. Didn't you just say you'd pass by to see Miss on your way this afternoon? I'll go pick a few to bring back for you to give her a taste."

Now that the engagement was settled, Fu's father did not decline: "Then I'll go with you."

Fu's mother also took an interest, so the group did not enter the house but instead headed to the private plot.

As soon as Fu's mother arrived, she saw the well: "You've dug a well?"

Hearing the question, Liu's mother replied: "The nearest well is nearly a li away. Chuxue suggested digging one, and thanks to Fu Yan Cheng, we found an expert supporting the reservoir project who helped us locate a spot for the well."

"At first, I worried our location was too high to yield water, but unexpectedly, it went very smoothly."

Remembering something, Liu's mother added: "Of course, it's also thanks to my daughter Chuxue; without the prize money she won, we wouldn't have been able to build a house, let alone dig a well."

Fu's mother had a very good impression of Liu's couple: they were straightforward and very down-to-earth.

Upon seeing the vegetables in the private plot, she said: "These vegetables are grown so well."

With Chuxue occasionally adding ingredients, it would be hard for the vegetables not to grow well; however, Chuxue was very restrained, using only diluted space-pond water to irrigate the land at the very beginning, and later switched to fresh water from the space.

The vegetables grew well and tasted great; furthermore, long-term consumption could subtly nourish the body, though of course, no one else would know this.

Fu's father and Fu's mother actually grew fond of the private plot; disregarding whether their clothes or shoes would get dirty, they went straight into the field.

Upon seeing the watermelons and melons planted along the field's edge, their eyes lit up.

Fu's mother said somewhat embarrassedly: "I've only eaten watermelons; this is my first time seeing watermelons growing in the ground."

Laughter occasionally echoed from the private plot.

Villagers returning from work, seeing the situation over there, asked: "Shanliang, Lamei, do you have relatives visiting?"

Liu's mother, beaming with smiles, replied: "Chuxue's fiancé has brought his elders over to propose."

Someone hearing this remarked: "Then why did you bring them to the field?"

Fu's father, not waiting for Liu's father to answer, smiled and said: "We've been in the city all along and know nothing about rural matters; with this opportunity, I thought I'd learn more from my in-law."

Hearing Fu's father's words, everyone immediately started chattering: "Oh, that's easy to say; anyway, the city isn't far from our village; come over and experience it whenever you have time."

Actually, Fu's father truly had this idea: "That's a good idea."

Everyone thought Fu's father was joking and laughed.

Only Fu's mother noticed that her husband was likely serious.

Fearing he would come to the countryside whenever he had free time, she quickly whispered: "Later, I'll let you plant vegetables in the two empty flower beds in the courtyard; learn more about farming today, and you can practice growing them yourself in the courtyard later."

Fu's father laughed: "Ah, actually, that is a good idea."
