The more Seeing Fu Yanwan thought about it, the angrier she got. Seeing him stay silent, she said, "Over these years, the money you've gotten from Mom and Dad—a fair bit of it was taken back by Second Sister-in-Law to give to her own parents, wasn't it?"

Fu Yanwei's head snapped up at those words, and he blurted out instinctively, "How did you know?"

The look on Seeing Fu Yanwan's face grew even more disappointed. Knowing is one thing, but hearing it straight from Second Brother himself is another. "Second Brother, you chose this path yourself. Your family doesn't owe you anything. You're on your own."

With that, she turned to head back—she didn't want to lay eyes on him for another second.

Fu Yanwei quickly called out to stop her: "Xiao Wan, you just said to have us come to your Fourth Brother's engagement. Could it be that your Fourth Brother's fiancée isn't far from here?"

Sure enough, none of the Fu children were slow-witted. "Yes, she's quite close by. Too bad you missed it."

"How was I to know she wasn't talking about the fake pregnancy?"

"Then what was she talking about?"

"Fourth Brother is engaged. The family couldn't get hold of us, so they had Xiao Wan come over to let us know. But as luck would have it, we'd taken leave and gone back to your parents' place."

"Then bring our son along. Maybe, for the sake of their grandson, they'll forgive us—it's hard to say."

"Don't count on such a pretty outcome. Mom and Dad are hardly short on grandsons."

Hao Yanhong muttered under her breath: "Counting Jincheng from the eldest branch, there are only two grandsons. I refuse to believe they wouldn't want more."

Fu Yanwei figured she had a point: "This can't be put off. I figure it's a blade whether I stick my neck out or pull it in. Best to come clean before Little Sister gets to tattle."

"What do you mean—going home today?"

Fu Yanwei nodded: "Yes, no time to lose. Remember to put in for leave for me. I'll take our son back to Huicheng in a bit."
