Chapter 496: Do You Know the Inside Story?
Ji Kunlan followed her gaze and asked, "What's wrong, Second Sister-in-law?"
Xiao Wanxia heard the question, shook her head lightly, and said, "Nothing. Your roommate is really good-looking."
Ji Kunlan teased, "Right? I was actually thinking of introducing a partner to him, but unfortunately, he's already spoken for."
Xiao Wanxia smiled and asked, "Who were you planning to set him up with?"
Ji Kunlan leaned in toward her own Second Sister-in-law: "Xiao Wanpeng."
Xiao Wanxia didn't expect her sister-in-law to still be thinking about the fourth little brother who always quarreled with her whenever they met: "That is indeed a pity."
Ji Kunlan glanced at the lunchbox in her Second Sister-in-law's hand: "Second Sister-in-law, you'd better head back, or that little glutton Yaoyang will be waiting anxiously."
Xiao Wanxia nodded: "You should go in quickly too, don't make them wait too long. I'm leaving."
After Ji Kunlan went inside, she saw Duan Ruirui waving at her: "Kunlan, over here."
Someone behind muttered, "We were in line before her, you can't cut in."
Duan Ruirui turned to look at the Miss who had spoken, shook the lunchbox in her hand, and said, "We came together. She met family at the entrance and spoke a few words. Her lunchbox is still with me; how is that cutting in?"
Ji Kunlan walked over and happened to hear these words; to avoid trouble, she said, "Ruirui, I won't queue with you. I'll go over there to save a spot first. You just order for me."
Duan Ruirui thought this was even better: "Alright, go ahead."
Liu Chuxue was at the front of the line. She got half a portion of stir-fried beans with pork, half a portion of tofu, and then asked for two steamed buns before stepping aside.
Duan Ruirui stepped forward, first getting half a portion of smashed cucumbers, then half a portion of braised pork, a liang of mixed-grain rice, and two steamed buns. She ordered a portion of minced meat with eggplant for Ji Kunlan, a portion of tomato and scrambled eggs for herself, and also asked for two steamed buns for her.
Well, all six dishes in the cafeteria today were accounted for.
Seeing them finish ordering, Ji Kunlan waved to them: "Over here."
After sitting down, Ji Kunlan looked at the food in the lunchbox: "There's actually braised pork today?"
Duan Ruirui picked up the conversation: "There was only that one basin in total. Luckily we arrived early; those behind us definitely wouldn't have gotten any."
The three lunchboxes were placed together, and the three of them began eating and chatting.
They happened to be talking about Bai Moli.
Duan Ruirui swallowed the bun in her mouth: "To be honest, I even went to Logistics to request a dorm change. She always wears a gloomy face; living with her is really depressing."
Hearing her say this, Ji Kunlan said, "There's an empty spot in the dorm diagonally opposite ours. If you really want to switch, find someone in Logistics during your break tomorrow when you're at work."
She looked around, lowered her voice, and said, "If not, just slip in a few tickets. Anyway, it's just one empty spot; it doesn't matter which room is empty."
Duan Ruirui was happy now: "Alright, I'll go to Logistics first thing tomorrow morning. How do you know there's an empty bunk diagonally opposite? Who vacated it?"
Ji Kunlan picked up a piece of braised pork and whispered, "Lin Muni from the Factory Office abandoned her post and was transferred to the workshop."
Hearing this, Liu Chuxue asked in a low voice, "She agreed? Didn't they say she had connections?"
She was naturally asking this on purpose.
Ji Kunlan sneered: "Connections? Now that Deputy Factory Director Shen can barely save himself, how could he care about her?"
Duan Ruirui, with a gossipy expression, asked, "Do you know the inside story?"
Ji Kunlan signaled to them with her eyes: "Eat first, we'll talk about it when we get back."
Hearing this, the two of them also realized the matter was probably not simple; discussing it here was indeed inappropriate.
The three of them naturally sped up their eating.
