Chapter 57: Night Watch

As soon as the nurse left, he could no longer hold it in; hearing his daughter ask, he could only hum in acknowledgment.

With the wheelchair, the father was no longer so embarrassed; at least he did not need his daughter to carry him back and forth.

After all, there was no extra space in the ward; some family members were still sitting on chairs in the corridor outside. Although they did not know each other, it would indeed be quite awkward if they were to do that.

The injured leg had undergone surgery. Although it still ached faintly, the heart that had been hanging was finally set at ease. Now that the cycle of the five grains had been resolved, the father could finally rest peacefully and sleep well.

After settling the father, Seeing Liu Chuxue did not stay in the ward but took a coarse porcelain bowl and walked toward the boiler room on the first floor.

She first filled half a bowl with boiling water, then went to a hidden spot behind, and after confirming safety, entered the space directly.

When washing dishes at night, she found an apple core in the sink; while her mother was not paying attention, she put it into the space.

It was already April; for the north, fruit was rare to see, so upon seeing the fruit core, her eyes even shone with light.

However, she had been busy all along and had not yet had time to enter the space to plant it.

After entering the space, she first went to the fresh water area to check on the fish and shrimp and crabs she had collected.

After finishing the matter, thinking of returning to see the father's condition, she exited the space.

It was fortunate she had returned; the father had actually been enduring his sleepiness all along, waiting for her: "Father, why haven't you slept yet?"

"I will sleep right now."

Seeing Liu Chuxue felt warm inside: "Since you haven't slept yet, just get up and drink a few sips of water; consider it rinsing your mouth. After drinking, sleep well."

The father instinctively wanted to refuse; after all, he had been receiving an IV drip all afternoon and was not thirsty, nor did he want to trouble his daughter again in the middle of the night.

But upon hearing his daughter say to consider it rinsing the mouth, he agreed.

She helped the man sit up and handed the bowl mixed with pool water to his lips.

Perhaps afraid of getting up at night, the father did not drink much.

Whether it was because he had drunk the water mixed with pool water, or because he had been tossed about for several days and was indeed exhausted, the father fell asleep not long after.

Seeing Liu Chuxue knew that since her mother had arrived, she certainly would not go back, so she did not argue either; she took the key and left the hospital.

Back at the guesthouse, she entered the space directly; the time ratio between the space and the outside world was four to one, which was perfect for catching up on sleep.

On the other side, Chen Weiping avoided his family members to pick up Hu Liru, boarded a delivery truck from the textile factory's transport team, and came to the city early.
