Chapter 73: No Matter What, They Must Accept This Kindness

~4 min read 762 words

Upon reaching the floor where the ward was located, she did not return to the ward first, but went to the nurses' station instead.

Coincidentally, the head nurse had just returned from outside: "Head Nurse, where should I put the thing you asked me to bring?"

This remark made the head nurse pause for a moment, thinking: What did I ask you to bring?

Looking down at the water bucket on the floor, she finally realized: "No way, you actually caught fish?"

Liu Chuxue nodded with a smile: "Mm-hmm."

The head nurse walked closer and saw the two large fish in the bucket: "Whoa, you're quite skilled."

After speaking, she looked up at Seeing Liu Chuxue: "However, I cannot accept these fish for free. What I said yesterday was just a joke. If you truly want to give them to me, I will exchange them for tickets for you."

How could Seeing Liu Chuxue agree: "That won't do. If I really took the tickets, what kind of person would I be? Isn't this making me break my word?"

The two went back and forth for a while, and the head nurse did not expect Liu Chuxue to be so stubborn: "Alright then, I will accept these fish. I will thank everyone on their behalf."

After speaking, she said to a nurse: "These fish are quite large. Take them to Director Zhang in the cafeteria and ask him to help us process them. Today, the nurses' station will have an extra meal."

Hearing this, the nurses were all in high spirits and thanked the head nurse and Seeing Liu Chuxue together with smiles.

The head nurse's husband was a martyr. After he passed away, she did not remarry, so she mostly considered the hospital her home, and she was also very kind to the nurses under her.

Hearing the head nurse's words, Liu Chuxue immediately had an idea.

She stepped forward a bit, somewhat embarrassed, and said: "Head Nurse, could you please help process the remaining fish as well? Just give me one lunchbox worth later. That way, I can also share some with Doctor Jiang and the others to taste."

Hearing this, the head nurse, though somewhat disapproving, thought it over and realized it was true; the nurses' station could not be the only ones having an extra meal, or that would likely be bad for this young girl: "Alright. Once the fish is cooked, I will have someone go call you."

Perfect, now there was no need to find someone else to process it.

Carrying the fishing gear, she returned to the ward cheerfully: "Mom, I'm back."

Seeing her daughter with empty hands, fearing her daughter would feel bad, she quickly comforted her: "Those fish are very cunning. How could there be a catch every day? Don't feel bad..."

Before she finished speaking, Liu Chuxue leaned in front of her: "Mom, how is Dad today? Is he any better?"

Before Seeing Liu Chuxue's mother could reply, Seeing Liu Chuxue's father jumped in: "Xue, I feel much better. Why don't we ask the doctor if we can go home to recuperate? That way, we can save some money."

He naturally knew what his daughter had gone out to do today, but seeing her return empty-handed, with his wife clumsily making up such a reason to comfort their daughter, he felt a strange ache in his heart.

Liu Chuxue squeezed in between the two: "What are you thinking? I have already prepared the treatment fees for the next few days. The reason I didn't come back in the middle was just to catch a few more fish to exchange with people."

To ease the atmosphere, she said with a smile: "I also specifically kept one for us to nourish our bodies. I just asked the head nurse to send it to the cafeteria."

Then, lowering her voice, she said: "The fish are quite large. It's just right to share some with Doctor Jiang and the nurses to taste, after all, they have taken very good care of us these past two days."

These past two days, whether it was Doctor Jiang or the nurses responsible for their ward, even the head nurse, had been truly friendly toward them. Although this was their duty, they knew it was mostly because of Vice Dean Sun that they were more patient with them than with others.

No matter what, they must accept this kindness.

Checking the time: "Mom, why don't we go pay the treatment fees now, so we don't have someone urging us tomorrow morning."
