Chapter 755: Many Gifts Never Offend

Days passed swiftly, and it was soon the weekend.

Because her heart was preoccupied, Liu Chuxue contacted Aunt Wu at the meat processing plant in advance; learning they would be heading to the North Suburbs Night Market to load goods on Saturday afternoon, she arranged to hitch a ride home.

Before getting off work at noon, Liu Chuxue went to find the Section Chief: "Section Chief, may I leave a bit early this afternoon after finishing my current tasks?"

The Section Chief naturally knew how much work she had on her plate; if given to someone else, completing it by the end of the afternoon would be a feat in itself: "Fine, no problem."

Having received the Section Chief's approval, Liu Chuxue thanked him repeatedly before heading out to work.

After all, doing a bit more now meant things would be easier this afternoon.

With half an hour remaining before the agreed time, Liu Chuxue had already finished all her afternoon work; after showing it to Sister Hong, she personally entered the Section Chief's office: "Section Chief, please take a look; if there are no issues, I will head out shortly."

The Section Chief took the report, not only flipping through it once but also personally checking several items; the result was quite satisfactory: "Well done, go ahead."

Thanking the Section Chief, she left the outer main office and began packing her things: "Sister Hong, I'm hitching a ride home today, so I'll be off first."

Sister Hong waved her hand at her: "Be safe on the road."

Liu Chuxue left the factory gate and crossed to the opposite side; after waiting over ten minutes, she saw the meat processing plant's vehicle.

However, the driver today was not Aunt Wu's nephew; seeing Liu Chuxue board, Aunt Wu smiled and introduced: "Liu Chuxue, the driver today is Master Dou; from now on, he and my nephew will alternate this route."

Liu Chuxue grabbed a handful of milk candies from her pocket and handed them over: "Master Dou, sorry to trouble you; take these candies home for the children to sweeten their mouths."

Master Dou had been somewhat reluctant at first, feeling that the detour was a waste of time, but seeing the handful of milk candies in the young girl's hand, all that displeasure instantly vanished: "Too polite."

Liu Chuxue treated everyone equally, not neglecting Aunt Wu just because they were acquaintances, and handed her a handful of milk candies as well: "Auntie, sweeten your mouth."

Aunt Wu smiled as she accepted: "You, you have too many gifts."

Liu Chuxue put her schoolbag away neatly: "People often say that many gifts never offend; besides, I trouble you so often, I cannot take your kindness for granted."

Master Dou, who had already started driving the vehicle, heard these words and felt much more comfortable, a smile appearing on his face.

He thought: This young lady is sensible; we should be able to get along in the future.

Chatting about amusing stories along the way, they arrived at the fork in the road quite quickly.

Liu Chuxue got off the vehicle, bid farewell to Aunt Wu and Master Dou, and walked toward Liushu Village not far ahead.

As she neared the village entrance, she took out the items she had prepared from her space.

Because she had left her workplace early today, she arrived in the village before the end-of-shift time.

At the village entrance's information center, there were elderly aunts; some were making shoe soles, some were mending clothes, and one who lived nearby was simply pasting together layers of cloth for shoe soles.

Seeing Liu Chuxue enter the village carrying things: "Yo, young lady Liu Chuxue is back; today is early enough?"

Liu Chuxue walked into the village while smiling and greeting them: "Aunt Ba, Grandma Nine, Second Aunt...... It's the weekend holiday; I hitched a ride on a vehicle coming from the North Suburbs Farm to load goods, and they arrived earlier today than the scheduled bus."

Someone stood up and glanced at the items she was carrying: "Did you bring something else for your mother to nourish her body?"

Liu Chuxue did not answer directly but turned a corner: "My mother's body was already overworked before, and now she is pregnant, so of course she needs nutritional supplements; I won't chat with everyone, as there is still time, and I can go back to help with some chores."

Having finished speaking, she walked toward her home.
