Chapter 795
Only when she heard the outside person leave did Qiu Qiu exhale in relief and collapse onto her bed: "Sorry, I didn't mean to touch your things— I had to do it, or that woman wouldn't have been reassured."
By now, Liu Chuxue had figured it out: this girl had done it on purpose.
But since it was someone else's private matter, she wouldn't pry; yet since the girl had been open, she ought to respond: "I noticed."
"By the way, what's your name?"
"Xiao Chuxue."
"Let me properly introduce myself again—I'm Qiu Qiu. Please look out for me in the future."
As she stood and extended her hand, Liu Chuxue extended hers too: "Hello, welcome aboard."
No sooner had their hands separated than Duan Ruirui's voice called out: "Chuxue, are you back?"
Liu Chuxue turned and answered: "I'm back."
Hearing her voice, Duan Ruirui quickly pushed open the door: "I heard someone was assigned to your dorm."
Qiu Qiu saw a white, plump girl enter: "Hello, I'm Qiu Qiu, the new arrival."
Duan Ruirui nodded at her: "Hello."
Then she turned to Liu Chuxue: "It's getting late— are you leaving? I have something to tell you."
Liu Chuxue glanced at her watch, then at Duan Ruirui's expression, and knew something was up: "Alright, let's go."
She turned to Qiu Qiu: "We're leaving first."
Qiu Qiu nodded— she had just reported in today, and her direct superior had told her to settle her own affairs today and start officially tomorrow.
Watching the two leave, Qiu Qiu lay back on her bed. She'd moved out because she couldn't stand that woman who acted sweet but wanted to be her stepmother— always using her as an excuse to come home and get close to her father.
That's why she moved out— to see if the woman still had any excuse to show up at home.
Earlier, she'd deliberately done that to give the woman a reason to go complain to her father— after all, before leaving home, she'd bet her dad that the woman would definitely go to him and file a complaint against her.
Her dad knew her nature too well to believe the woman's lies— she wanted to make her father dislike the woman before she could win him over.
So the woman wouldn't keep pretending she was "looking after her sister's daughter" while sneaking glances at her father.
If she hadn't overheard the mother and daughter's conversation, she might have been fooled too— now that she knew their scheme, she wouldn't let them succeed.
So the first step was to cut off any chance of the woman contacting her father again; as for later, she had plenty of ways to make them pay— hmph!
She glanced at Liu Chuxue's bed— I wonder if my roommate has forgiven me yet?
Downstairs, Liu Chuxue was being pulled along by Duan Ruirui: "Chuxue, Xiao Wanpeng said he wants to come to my house soon to propose— what should I do?"
"That's a good thing."
"But you know about my family— my two sisters-in-law would love to sell me by the pound. What if they make outrageous demands when Xiao Wanpeng comes?"
"I think you should tell your dad first and see what he thinks— after all, with your dad around, your two sisters-in-law have no say in your marriage."
"You're right— I really should get my dad to come back for a visit."
"Your dad isn't in Jing City?"
"My dad found the two sisters-in-law too noisy, so he asked the factory to assign him to check the water pump station— no one else wanted the job, since it's far out in the suburbs. Now he's just like me— comes home once every half month."
