Chapter 908: I Just Came Along to Mooch a Meal
Liu Chuxue sighed lightly: "Alright, I know. I've already comforted him. Otherwise, do you think Duan Ruirui would have shown you a good face today?"
Xiao Wanpeng smiled and clasped his hands: "Then Fourth Brother thanks you."
Liu Chuxue saw it was getting late: "Let's talk as we walk."
Xiao Wanpeng immediately understood his cousin must have something to tell him: "Are you heading home for lunch?"
Liu Chuxue nodded: "You probably won't have food at home either. We're stewing lamb chops today. Do you want to come home with me?"
Xiao Wanpeng had been to the house before to help clean the yard: "Sure, just in time to mooch a good meal. By the way, I heard you encountered a wolf attack in Inner Mongolia this time. Were you hurt?"
Liu Chuxue shook her head: "No. Don't tell Grandpa about this; no need to make him worry."
Xiao Wanpeng nodded and replied: "Understood."
Liu Chuxue finally got to the real matter: "You know Duan Ruirui's family situation. His two sisters-in-law are not only snobbish but also greedy. Their relationship with Duan Ruirui was already strained; postponing the wedding banquet made them lose face, so naturally they showed Duan Ruirui no good face. His father, stuck in the middle, had it even worse."
Xiao Wanpeng was a smart man: "I understand. Rest assured, I will make sure Duan Ruirui and his father have a good New Year."
The two stepped out of the factory gate and saw Fu Yan Cheng waiting not far away.
Liu Chuxue asked with a smile: "How long have you been waiting?"
Fu Yan Cheng took the things from her hand: "Just arrived. I came over as soon as I finished my business."
As he spoke, he smiled and nodded at Xiao Wanpeng, which counted as a greeting.
Liu Chuxue gestured for Xiao Wanpeng to get in the car, then looked at Fu Yan Cheng and said: "My eldest uncle and aunt went to the Northeast to attend my third brother and sister-in-law's wedding. Fourth Brother has no food at home either; I'm bringing him home to mooch a meal."
The group chatted and laughed as they got into the car.
But as soon as Xiao Wanpeng got in, he saw a shoulder bag on the back seat with items spilling out that looked familiar: "Fu Yan Cheng, did you buy a cashmere sweater for Liu Chuxue?"
Fu Yan Cheng glanced back through the rearview mirror: "How did you know that was a cashmere sweater?"
Xiao Wanpeng's face was all smiles: "Looks like our tastes are the same. I heard the Department Store only got six red cashmere sweaters this time. I didn't expect you managed to grab one."
Fu Yan Cheng didn't tell him he had asked someone to reserve it for him in advance: "This color suits people, and it's festive. It looked nice, so I bought one for Liu Chuxue."
Friendship is so absurd; just because both men bought the same cashmere sweater for their fiancées, the floodgates opened. They found they had much in common and chatted all the way home.
Xiao Mu had only met Xiao Wanpeng twice and was momentarily stunned when she saw the visitor.
Xiao Wanpeng called out: "Second Aunt."
With Liu Chuxue's prompt, Xiao Mu finally realized: "Come in quickly, come inside and sit."
Chunxiao had already returned. Seeing the visitor, she jumped up: "Fourth Cousin, you're here. Oh my, Mom stewed lamb chops. You're in for a treat."
Xiao Wanpeng didn't expect his little cousin to be so enthusiastic: "I just followed your Second Sister over to mooch a meal."
Xiao Mu had been socializing more with neighbors lately and had improved quite a bit in dealing with people: "We're all family. What's there to mooch? It's not far. If you like Second Aunt's cooking, we'd love for you to come often."
As they were talking, Xiao Fu returned: "Wanpeng is here."
"Second Uncle, you're back."
Xiao Mu looked at her husband: "Didn't you have an early shift today? Why are you back so early?"
