Chapter 993: Where Did You Learn Such Glib Talk
With the main matters settled, Fu Yan Cheng knew he couldn't stay any longer: "Do you have plans tomorrow? Shall I accompany you?"
Liu Chuxue did not hide anything: "Tomorrow I plan to go to my sister's place; given my mother's condition, she can't come along, and even if she wanted to, we wouldn't feel at ease letting her."
"Then I'll accompany you there tomorrow."
"If you have things to attend to, go handle them; you don't need to keep accompanying me."
"Now that I finally have a holiday, naturally I want to stay by your side."
Liu Chuxue hadn't expected him to say such a thing; lowering her voice, she asked, "Where did you learn such glib talk?"
Fu Yan Cheng's brows and eyes were full of mirth: "I was speaking nothing but the truth; don't wrongly accuse me."
Liu Chuxue gave a 'hmph' and composed her expression: "If you're accompanying me tomorrow, don't borrow a car again; let's take the bus. It's not good to keep borrowing other people's vehicles."
Fu Yan Cheng, however, did not agree: "Alright, I'll listen to you."
Seeing him stand up, Liu Chuxue quickly said, "Tomorrow morning, don't rush to my home; let's just meet at the station to save you making an unnecessary trip."
Fu Yan Cheng replied, "No need; I'll still come pick you up. I don't mind making an unnecessary trip."
Liu Chuxue could do nothing with him; knowing that even if he agreed, he likely wouldn't listen tomorrow, she resigned herself: "Fine, it's getting late; you should head back early."
The two left the room one after the other.
Fu Yan Cheng called out to Xiao Fu, who had just finished wiping the bicycle in the courtyard: "Uncle, I'm leaving."
Xiao Fu straightened up and handed over the flashlight in his hand: "The alley outside is probably too dark to see the path clearly; take this flashlight with you."
Fu Yan Cheng raised his hand to refuse: "It's fine; I can see clearly enough. You keep it for your own use."
Saying this, he strode toward the gate.
Yet as soon as he stepped outside the main gate, he glanced around; seeing no one in the alley, he turned, embraced Liu Chuxue who had just exited the gate, quickly kissed her on the cheek, and said, "I'm leaving."
Only after saying this did he let her go.
Liu Chuxue pushed him slightly: "What are you doing? Aren't you afraid of being seen?"
He knew exactly whom she was referring to; however, he had long discerned from the footsteps that his father-in-law had not come out to see them off, which was why he dared to be so bold: "I checked that it was safe before kissing you."
He spoke in an extremely soft voice, audible only to the two of them.
Fearing Liu Chuxue might feel embarrassed, he took a step back after speaking: "It's cold outside; go back in. I'm leaving now. I'll come pick you up tomorrow and bring you pea-yellow cake."
Having said this, he waved to her and strode out of the alley.
On the other side, at the health clinic, the Physician had already informed the Qiu family that if the morning check-up showed no issues, they could be discharged and return home.
Qiu Mu held her grandson tightly, unwilling to let go: "Oh my, our Junjun really knows how to grow; he's surely going to be a handsome young man when he grows up."
Qiu Shaofeng hurried over carrying the meal: "Mom, please put Junjun down quickly and come eat; I've walked all this way, and if we don't eat now, the food will surely get cold."
Upon hearing this, Qiu Mu immediately set the child down: "Quickly check whether your wife's food has gotten cold; she must not eat cold food. If it has cooled, find a place to reheat it."
Qiu Shaofeng opened one of the lunch boxes: "Indeed, it's not very warm anymore. Mom, you eat yours first; I'll go to the back and ask someone to reheat hers."
Qiu Mu turned to comfort Xia Qiu: "Just make do for now; once we return home tomorrow, Mom will prepare delicious meals for you."
Xia Qiu understood her meaning: "Alright, one sings the song suited to the mountain one is on; don't worry. However, I'll be waiting for Mom to return and cook delicious food for me."
Seeing her like this, Qiu Mu smiled and replied, "Very well; I promise to take good care of both you and Junjun."
