Chapter 30: Chapter Twenty-Nine: I Won

~7 min read 1,340 words

Not good...

At the moment he turned, Su Qing's mind hadn't caught up, but the muscle memory of his master-level martial skill had already acted, producing the best defensive stance he could manage.

He bent his legs, raised his arms in an arch to shield his head.

And just as he finished that series of movements, a fist the size of a sandbag appeared.

Bang!

The fist struck his arms; Su Qing's mind went blank, then he felt himself fly up until he crashed hard to the ground, only then reacting enough to push himself up.

'Hiss!' Su Qing gritted his teeth, refusing to cry out; now he felt excruciating pain in both arms, his hands trembling uncontrollably, unable even to clench a fist—it looked like his bones had been broken outright.

'Not bad, you actually managed to block my punch.' Lu Dexiu stood where he was, looking at the Eastern kid before him who was still able to stand, somewhat surprised.

'Cough…' Su Qing forced down the blood in his mouth, feeling his arm bones rapidly healing from his self-repair ability, and forced a smile: 'To knock me out with one punch, you're still a bit short.'

'Heh, if one punch won't do, then three, four… I'll keep hitting you until you can't get up again.' Seeing him still able to smile, Lu Dexiu's face showed a cold glint; he moved a step and vanished again in place.

Almost the instant he vanished, Su Qing spun and threw a punch.

As expected, Lu Dexiu still appeared behind him, but this time, having anticipated it, Su Qing didn't defend—he threw a punch to clash.

Crack!

The two fists collided, producing a clear sound; then Su Qing's eyelid twitched and cold sweat quickly beaded on his forehead.

All five finger bones in his right hand were shattered, knocked apart by Lu Dexiu's overwhelming strength.

In this fist clash, strength-wise, he was still completely defeated.

'Damn, are you a werewolf or a vampire? Your strength is insane.' Su Qing felt a bit dazed; normally, werewolves have tough bodies and great strength, vampires have astonishing speed and reflexes—how does this guy have both, being fast and possessing astonishingly great strength?

Damn it, this is totally unreasonable.

All those thoughts took just a second; after a fist clash in the battlefield, Lu Dexiu vanished again.

Su Qing, as usual, wanted to spin back and counter, but the instant he moved, a sour sensation struck his brow; he hastily stopped his motion and threw a forward punch.

Then he saw Lu Dexiu reappear at his previous spot, already throwing a punch.

'Damn, he's cheating.' Su Qing cursed inwardly, throwing another punch to block, not aiming to knock Lu Dexiu out with one blow, just hoping to stop this punch.

But the fact is brutal: during this period he'd downloaded skills many times; even after gulping large amounts of blood to replenish, his bodily functions hadn't yet recovered, and on top of that Lu Dexiu's strength was enormous.

At the moment of the fist clash, Su Qing's arm was broken, bent back to slam against his chest; his throat could no longer hold back a mouthful of blood, and his disheveled hair leaned against the wall.

The gap between them exceeded his imagination; whether attacking or defending, he saw no hope of making the opponent break through and bleed.

Such a result was beyond Su Qing's expectations; at this moment, a weary expression appeared on his face unbidden.

'As expected, I can't beat him.'

Nothing is more despairing than being crushed over and over; a strange voice seemed to well up in his mind.

At the same time, he sensed his body trembling.

Is he trembling from fear?

No!

It's because he's trembling from overexcitement.

Su Qing's eyes widened; faintly, he heard his body's forty-six trillion cells, all at once, shouting and howling madly: 'Evolve, evolve, evolve, evolve——'

At that moment, Lu Dexiu came to Su Qing's side; he had completely lost interest in fighting, but since he'd promised Kailwen, let this Eastern kid slowly die in fear!

Without a hint of hesitation, Lu Dexiu delivered a killing blow—a reverse palm strike that plunged straight into Su Qing's chest cavity; let this boring farce end here!

Truly disappointing—Kailwen actually had him deal with such trash!

Shaking his head, Lu Dexiu gathered his thoughts, preparing to turn and leave.

But suddenly, a hand grabbed him—grabbed Lu Dexiu—and he looked puzzled: 'With your current state, do you still want to keep fighting me, Eastern kid?'

'Although I admire your courage and will… you're really annoying!' Lu Dexiu backhanded a heavy hammer, speaking indifferently: 'The weak get no rewards; just lie down honestly and wait to die slowly as your blood drains.'

Lu Dexiu pulled his hand out of Su Qing's chest, inexplicably feeling some emotion: 'Kailwen's really gone downhill—he doesn't even have a decent talent anymore.'

But then, that same hand grabbed Lu Dexiu again.

What!

You damn fly!

Lu Dexiu turned his head; Su Qing, head bowed, placed his hand once more on his shoulder, as if a voice from hell echoed: 'Lu Dexiu!'

His expression instantly broke; Lu Dexiu widened his eyes.

Only see, Su Qing lifted his head; his eyes turned entirely blood-red, matching the large bloodstains on his chin, resembling a man-eating demon crawling out of the abyss.

At this moment, the air in the passage seemed to drop by several degrees; even the powerful Lu Dexiu felt a chill.

At this point, Su Qing had fully blackened; the wounds on his body were rapidly healing, and the sincere smile on his face proved that this man had thrown himself into the embrace of 'evolution'.

The malice of limitless evolution from human genes made Lu Dexiu beside him break out in cold sweat; aside from Elder Marcus, he had never felt such a powerful malignance, which could actually threaten him in return.

'Come on, let's continue our fight!' Su Qing said with a light laugh.

Watching Su Qing's sudden change, Lu Dexiu's mind flashed with myriad thoughts in an instant; finally his whole body tensed, and he thought, 'Let's keep fighting!'

He lashed out violently, a move aimed straight at Su Qing's head, this strike carrying a determination to kill.

In that instant, time seemed to freeze; Su Qing's calmness was terrifying.

Pfft!

Blood spattered, an arm flung away.

Lu Dexiu's expression changed drastically; he turned his head to look at his right arm, seeing nothing there.

His killing strike actually missed, and in an instant he lost an arm.

'Then, I won!' Su Qing said, standing in place and smiling, his right hand smeared with blood—he didn't know whose it was, his own or Lu Dexiu's.

But whose it was no longer mattered.

Because he had won.

Hearing this, Lu Dexiu came to his senses, his gaze complex as he looked at the man before him; he suddenly gave a faint smile and said, "Yeah, you won."

"Then, see you again tomorrow night." Su Qing smiled and waved, then turned and walked out, his steps quick and resolute.

"Kailwen, it seems you've picked the wrong person!" Lu Dexiu muttered to himself, standing expressionless in place, watching the retreating back until he could no longer see it, then he withdrew his gaze, walked over to one side, bent down, picked up his right arm, and directly aligned it with the severed cross-section.

With the activation of his self-healing ability, only the blood threads at the junction were seen slowly disappearing; it seemed it wouldn't be long before the severed arm could be reattached.

On the other side, Su Qing walked quickly and soon returned to his room.

Just after closing the room door, he could no longer suppress it and spat out a large mouthful of fresh blood.

But at this moment, he couldn't bother with his injuries; instead, he leaned against the door panel, dazed, and muttered:

"So, the cancer cells weren't killed; instead, they devoured and fused with the vampire bloodline, evolving!"
