Chapter 32: Superhero-Style Landing and Ambush
Dark night, high wind, lightning and thunder, the heavy rain fell as expected, pattering.
Figures of agile silhouettes appeared and disappeared in the rain, finally flashing toward the same direction, leaping onto a church tens of meters high in just an instant.
Su Qing stood atop the church, looking down at the pedestrians by the road, with only one thought in his mind: this is the feeling.
He still remembered watching the Underworld movie that year, when the Moon Goddess Selinna gracefully leapt from the church roof, a scene that left a deep impression on him, etched forever in his memory, impossible to forget.
Back then, the bloodshed and killing, immortality and curse in the Underworld drew him in from the very start.
But when Selinna appeared wearing tight leather clothes and dual guns, adding a bombshell to an already impressive sensory experience, it gave the pure novice Su Qing an initiation into leather attire.
The memory is unforgettable, but being personally at the place deeply etched in memory makes one's heart race even more.
Turning his head to look at Selinna in a trench coat beside him, Su Qing made a satisfying decision in 0.01 seconds: he would definitely get her a set of leather clothes and pants later……
Boom—
A lightning dragon coiled and flickered in the distant dark clouds, breaking Su Qing's train of thought; he saw Jiexika walking toward Selinna.
"Selinna, you don't need to come for this mission."
"I live for this." Selinna said coldly; although she knew her true enemy, she wasn't foolish, and after returning to the manor she didn't act rashly but followed her usual approach, still targeting werewolves.
"You just got back; you could actually rest a few days." Jiexika ignored Selinna's attitude and continued to advise, noting that Selinna is the person Kailwen likes, so she didn't recommend showing any kindness.
But no matter how she said it, it was useless; Su Qing was here, and Selinna couldn't rest easy about him, so she wouldn't leave.
"Fine, do as you wish!" Jiexika shook her head, her tone casual and relaxed; she was full of confidence for tonight's operation, feeling that having one more or one less Selinna made no difference, and she might as well treat it as an outing to relax.
Centuries have passed since that legendary battle; Lucien, the most ruthless and powerful werewolf chieftain of the Wolf Clan, was ultimately slain by the Blood Clan hero Kailwen.
The Wolf Clan, having lost its leader, was nearly wiped out, though a few stragglers remain hidden in some corner, awaiting their chance for revenge.
But she, a Death Messenger, has but one task: to find those hidden werewolves and kill them one by one.
Such operations, she has carried out dozens of times over the past hundreds of years, to the point of being utterly familiar.
Tonight is no different; she will again destroy this discovered lair and kill every werewolf inside.
But before that, she still has a score to settle.
Recalling her daytime encounter, Jiexika felt extremely annoyed; she had slept with over eighty or ninety men in her years, yet never had a man spit out the meat offered to his mouth.
"Hmph!" Jiexika let out a soft snort, walked straight up to Su Qing, and said in an extremely displeased tone: "You'll follow me in the operation later."
"Sure!" Su Qing replied with a light laugh, seemingly not noticing her malicious gaze.
"You..." Jiexika hadn't expected this guy to agree so readily; her prepared sarcastic remark was useless, leaving her with a feeling of punching cotton.
Taking a deep breath to suppress her inner turmoil, Jiexika turned to the edge of the rooftop, pulled out a telescope, and looked down at the pedestrians, searching for tonight's target.
Finally, after several minutes of effort, she spotted the shadow of a werewolf at the entrance of a street.
A flash of cruelty crossed Jiexika's eyes as she tossed out the words "Come with me" and, familiar with the route, leapt down from the tower.
Following her motion, seven or eight Death Messenger members behind her successively jumped down.
"Be careful." Selinna left a concerned remark and also jumped down.
Thus, only Su Qing remained atop the church.
"Holy crap, this place is at least forty meters high."
Su Qing walked to the edge, looking down at the pedestrians as small as ants, feeling a bit nervous; after all, jumping off a building, especially a forty-meter-high one, was something he had never done in his life—truly like a maiden riding in a bridal sedan for the first time.
However, after considering that he was no longer an ordinary person, he gritted his teeth and leapt from the tower.
How to put it!
The process of jumping off the building was truly exhilarating, with adrenaline surging wildly, stimulating his brain to run frantically.
In that state, he could clearly feel his own breathing and the sound of blood flowing.
It was quite special.
"Bang!"
His thoughts returned as the ground drew near; Su Qing's muscles tensed, and at the instant of landing he spread his arms, successfully landing perfectly with a "superhero-style landing".
"Tsk tsk, too bad this isn't the Marvel world; otherwise Deadpool would see it and drool." Su Qing kept his pose, one knee on the ground, as that thought suddenly popped into his mind.
"Hurry up and follow." Selinna's voice came, breaking Su Qing's daydream; his old face flushed, and he quickly lowered his posture and stood up: "Okay, coming right away."
Thereafter, the group followed Jiexika toward that street.
During this process, Su Qing also saw their target through Selinna's gaze.
But upon seeing that person, Su Qing's heart gave a sudden jump.
Bald, dark-skinned, wearing a earth-yellow coat, stoutly built……
"Hiss!"
Could he be that guy?
Su Qing's eyes narrowed as he recalled a dangerous werewolf.
He didn't know that werewolf's name, but he knew his past and his formidable battle record.
That was around the distant year 1400.
At that time, Lucien still wore a collar and was a slave raised by Victor.
Back then, the bald man was merely a slave; later, with Victor's help, he became a werewolf.
Later, after sensing Lucien's "cuckold" aura, he kowtowed and fell under Lucien's trousers, and when he later resisted Victor's tyranny he made a great contribution; thereafter he served as Lucien's right and left hand, following him until even Underworld 1 remained intact.
Moreover, in Underworld 1 he once frightened Selinna away with sheer presence, making him a formidable general, truly impressive.
If the bald werewolf they are tracking now really is that impressive bald werewolf, then this operation would practically be a suicide mission.
Su Qing has always been self-aware; last night he severed one of Ludexiu's arms with a single strike, yet he did not arrogantly believe he could defeat his opponent.
At that time he had actually prepared for the worst; if Ludexiu broke his promise and showed even a hint of killing intent, he would immediately turn and flee.
Fortunately, Ludexiu, as a warrior, had his own pride and did not break his promise……
Getting back to the point, the bald werewolf they are tracking now, if he truly is that "formidable general," Su Qing admits he cannot beat him.
So, he decided to first prepare to flee.
He glanced at Selinna beside him; Su Qing deliberately made a sound, drawing her to turn her head.
Their eyes met; although they didn't say a word, both understood each other's meaning.
Su Qing glanced sideways: "I have something to tell you."
Selinna's gaze unchanged: "I know."
Su Qing's eyes flickered: "Hurry up."
Selinna's gaze unchanged: "I know."
After exchanging glances, taking advantage of nobody's attention, they came together in the heavy rain.
Su Qing walked and whispered: "That werewolf is off; I feel this operation is eighty percent a trap set by that bastard Kailwen. If things go wrong later, you run first."
Hearing this, Selinna furrowed her brows, but still said: "I know, but I'll bring you with me when I run,"
After saying that, she thought a moment and added: "I had considered that Kailwen might target you, but I didn't expect him to act so quickly."
"Of course, you're so beautiful; that snitch sees me getting close to you and will surely be jealous."
Su Qing laughed softly, his tone full of pride: the person Kailwen had failed to catch for hundreds of years is now being pursued by him; if it weren't for the wrong place and time, he would really like to embrace Selinna and kiss her in front of Kailwen, to piss off that snitch.
But at that moment, Jiexika, who was leading the team tracking ahead, noticed something amiss.
She saw the bald guy turn into the street, hurried to follow, and as soon as she went around the corner, a deadly sense of danger washed over her.
Almost at the instant she sensed danger, the sound of a bullet being fired came from afar to her ears.
"Bang bang bang……"
Gunshots rang out from the rain, and the surrounding crowd immediately scattered in all directions.
A vampire who had followed up couldn't dodge in time; a few breaths later it was riddled with bullets like a hornet's nest.
"Quick, those werewolves have an ambush……"
"Save me……"
"Damn it……"
"Pat pat pat……"
Cries of alarm and anguish mingled with the rain, creating a tremendous din.
