Chapter 9: Chapter Eight: The Truth
Selinna was stunned by this abrupt question, then came to her senses, frowned at the thin weak man before her, and asked three times in a row: "Who are you? How do you know me? And what do you mean by what you said?"
Su Qing stood up, brushed off the dust on his clothes, and smiled: "I'm just an ordinary person from the Eastern State. As for why I know you, it's not convenient to say; you just need to know my name is Su Qing, I mean you no harm. Finally, I'm just asking if you want to know the truth."
"Su Qing! The truth?"
Selinna's eyes were full of doubt, still not understanding Su Qing's words.
Looking at Selinna's expression, Su Qing only felt that this girl was truly pitiful, having been spun around by Victor's lies.
Back then, Victor feared that Lucien would find the prison and release the werewolf progenitor William, so he simply killed everyone in the village where the engineers who built the prison lived. But when he saw the engineer's eighteen-year-old daughter Selinna, who greatly resembled his own daughter, he softened, spared Selinna, and fabricated a lie telling her that her family was killed by werewolves, finally turning her into a vampire.
Thereafter, Selinna devoted herself to hunting werewolves to avenge her family.
Of course.
Selinna thus gained immortality, forever eighteen years old.
A strange thought flashed in Su Qing's mind; seeing Selinna look a bit impatient, he quickly spoke: "Selinna, do you want to know who the real culprit was who killed your family back then?"
With a whoosh, Selinna arrived before him, her dog leg knife resting on Su Qing's neck, her voice icy: "You'd better make your words clear, or else!"
The icy chill on his neck jolted Su Qing's spirit, but he remained calm and said: "Victor deceived you; he killed your family, then tricked you into believing it was werewolves."
"Impossible."
Selinna's face darkened, and she naturally exuded a chilling killing aura; Su Qing then recalled that she was the renowned Death Walker of the Blood Clan, having slain anywhere from eight hundred to a thousand werewolves over the past few centuries—essentially a bloody butcher.
In an instant.
Su Qing's forehead was already covered in cold sweat, his legs weak from the killing aura, but he, Su Qing, was not one to be easily frightened; he gritted his teeth and endured without showing weakness.
"Everything I said is true."
"Speak, who sent you?"
Selinna still didn't believe him, only increasing the force in her hand, threatening.
Her stubborn, unyielding attitude gave Su Qing a headache—why is this girl so obstinate, without a hint of hesitation? One wonders just how skilled Victor's PUA techniques are.
But thinking about it, this also makes sense.
For five hundred years, she had firmly believed in her lifesaver and mentor, only to have a stranger from nowhere claim he was the one who annihilated her clan.
Nobody would believe such a story.
Of course, speaking of which, if one were to casually say it, they'd believe it.
On the contrary, Su Qing needed to think carefully whether the Selinna before him was being impersonated by someone else.
After organizing his thoughts, Su Qing directly played his trump card, saying: "Andelesi·Tailisi, take me to see him; he can prove what I said is true."
Upon hearing this, Selinna's expression froze, and she unintentionally eased the force in her hand.
Seeing that.
Su Qing knew his purpose had been achieved.
If the Underworld Legend World were likened to an exam, for Su Qing, the transmigrator, this exam was no different from an open-book test.
He knew everything about the main characters' backgrounds, future developments, life, aging, sickness, death, as well as the world's future trajectory and so on.
So, at the moment he saw Selinna.
Su Qing then thought of revealing the truth, thereby staying by her side to facilitate obtaining the bloodline.
As for whether the original plot would be disrupted by his intrusion and unable to proceed smoothly, that was entirely outside Su Qing's considerations.
Now he only wants to seize every opportunity to survive.
Moreover, it's currently 1911; the Underworld story doesn't begin until 2003, a gap of ninety-two years, nearly a century, and his mind isn't addled.
"You'd better be telling the truth!"
Selinna came to her senses, gave Su Qing a deep look, then retracted her dog leg knife, turned to look at the werewolf on the ground, her mind in turmoil.
Andelesi·Tailisi—this person she knew too well.
He was the official historian of the Blood Clan Alliance; two hundred years ago, for recording lies that Victor deemed malicious, he fell out of favor and was exiled.
And back then, it was precisely she who was responsible for escorting the exiled individual.
Of course, these are not the main point.
Most importantly, many of Andelesi·Tailisi's records have since been successively proven to be true.
So, if it is corroborated by him…
He took a deep breath.
A glint of resolve flashed in Selinna's eyes—after all, what were centuries of slaughter for, if not the hatred in her heart!
Of course, whether the truth matches what Su Qing said…
This all still requires going to the prison and seeing Tailisi to be certain.
Beside them, seeing Selinna standing in place with her eyes flickering and changing, Su Qing hesitated slightly.
"Um, I'd like to ask you for a favor."
Selinna tilted her head, stared at him for a few seconds, then asked:
"What is it?"
Perhaps because of "revealing the truth" or "not being ready to strike," her tone softened considerably, no longer icy.
Su Qing turned, pointed at the approaching torches, and spoke softly:
"I'd like you to help me cripple them—no need to kill, just cripple will do."
"Are you sure?"
Selinna's expression was somewhat strange; she hadn't expected Su Qing's request for help to be this—truly a peculiar Eastern State person.
"Certain." Su Qing nodded firmly, then added: "If it's not feasible, you can also just not leave…"
Before he could finish speaking, the icy beauty before him had already vanished.
Next, cries of agony and the neighing of horses came in succession.
Looking up, he saw that the patrol team that had come running to the sound had all been knocked down, each either clutching a leg or an arm, rolling on the ground and wailing; the wooden houses on both sides of the alley had been set ablaze by torches, lighting up the rifles scattered on the ground.
And Selinna had already walked over with light steps.
Her face wasn't flushed, she wasn't out of breath, and there wasn't a speck of dirt on her; to her, knocking down over twenty cowboys wielding rifles was merely a trivial matter.
His eyelid twitched, and Su Qing silently clicked his tongue: "In the face of such supernatural beings as vampires, ordinary people are simply too fragile."
"Twenty-four of them, all with their hands and feet broken." Selinna walked over and said, then suddenly changed the tone: "It's getting late; we should go."
Su Qing was taken aback upon hearing that, and said: "I still have some business; it won't take long!"
Selinna heard him, nodded slightly, and said nothing.
"Thank you."
After Su Qing expressed his thanks, he walked into the disordered patrol team, began to search, and soon found a bunch of keys.
Then he picked up all the rifles on the ground, slung them onto his back, and headed toward the house where the laborers were detained.
