Chapter 1570: Blazing Yang Divine Pill
Han Li sat quietly there, letting the mist envelop him while he closed his own eyes.
Those black 'colored' mists, of unknown origin, circled Han Li in a whirl for a good while before finally dissipating.
"Not bad, your artifact refining technique is quite peculiar—you managed to infuse the object with spiritual awareness on your own, without me needing to use my divine sense." At the moment the mist completely cleared, Han Li opened his eyes again, but the words that came out of his mouth were indistinguishable from those of any other snake person.
"Senior, you flatter me. This is merely a trivial skill. This is the sea chart of our Fire Coral Islands. Please, senior, take a look!" The 'female' person gave a humble smile and then tossed out a white, chalky stone tablet.
This time, the stone tablet did not shatter; after being sucked in by the spiritual light Han Li spat out from his mouth, it simply adhered to his forehead and remained motionless.
Han Li narrowed his eyes halfway, his expression gradually shifting from calm to astonishment, but soon returned to normal.
Seeing Han Li's change in expression from afar, the 'female' person's eyes flashed with a hint of strange 'color', but it vanished instantly.
After a moment, the stone tablet on Han Li's forehead flashed with a white light and shot out, lightly 'reflecting' toward the 'female' person.
The 'female' person made a single-handed gesture, and the stone tablet promptly returned to her hand.
Han Li, however, remained in place, sinking into silent 'musing', as if pondering something.
The 'female' person did not interrupt him, merely sitting in her seat with a silent smile.
After a while, Han Li raised his head slightly and asked in a light tone:
"So, according to this, we are actually quite close to the Thunder Continent—just a few years' flight would get us there."
"Half a year! That's based on your escape speed, senior. For us juniors, without decades of time, we couldn't possibly reach the Thunder Continent at all. Not to mention the various dangers along the way." The 'female' person's eye twitched, and she immediately gave a bitter laugh.
Han Li nodded slightly, acknowledging the 'female' person's words, but then asked again:
"Looking at the sea chart, it seems your Fire Yang tribe occupies only a few islands. Are the other islands already inhabited by others?"
"Actually, it's not just a few—we barely have any islands at all. Only this Fire Cloud Island can accommodate our tribe. The remaining islands are merely used by our people for foraging food and gathering materials—no one is permanently stationed there. Most other islands are occupied by other powerful tribes. Some are even exclusively held by upper-tribe elders like yourself. In truth, our Fire Yang tribe is not a major power in these nearby waters." The 'female' person sighed and admitted this directly.
"I see!" Han Li nodded and said nothing more.
But after a moment of hesitation, the 'female' person began to question Han Li:
"Judging by your appearance, senior, you seem to have come from a very distant place. I don't know what urgent matter brings you here. Although my cultivation is modest, our tribe does have some manpower—I could possibly lend a hand."
The 'female' person appeared unusually enthusiastic.
"Han Li is indeed not from around here—I merely triggered an unknown restriction by accident elsewhere and was unexpectedly transported to this place. The transmission was slightly off, which left me in such a sorry state, causing you to laugh at me, fellow Daoist." Han Li spoke calmly.
"Senior, you jest. Even though your body is currently inconvenienced, I can sense your unfathomable depth. How about this: you surely need a place with extremely dense spiritual energy to rest and recuperate. Although our Fire Cloud Island is small, it still has several excellent spiritual veins. If you don't mind, I can designate a special area for you to recover your vitality." The 'female' person said apologetically, then respectfully.
"Rest on your island?" Han Li gave a light chuckle, his expression noncommittal.
Seeing this, the 'female' person grew anxious in her heart and immediately pressed on, saying firmly:
"Senior, rest assured—the spiritual veins on my island are no inferior to those of the other nearby large islands. Moreover, the island possesses several rare spiritual 'herbs' and has accumulated some spiritual stones, all of which you are free to use as you wish."
Upon hearing this, Han Li's smile faded from his face.
"Han Li does not accept favors without cause. Fellow Daoist, if you have something to say to me, just say it plainly—I have no habit of beating around the bush with people." Han Li's voice turned cold.
Only then did the 'female' person realize her earlier words had been tactless; her face 'color' shifted several times, and finally she let out a long sigh:
"Since you've sensed my ulterior motives, senior, I will conceal nothing further. You all may temporarily withdraw!" The 'female' person's final words were directed at the snake people standing nearby.
Immediately, all the white-robed snake people bowed in salute and then retreated en masse from the great hall.
Han Li remained still and silent, observing everything without a word or change in 'color'.
Only after the 'female' person and the others saw all the snake people disappear from the great hall did she approach Han Li and ask solemnly:
"Senior, what do you think of my cultivation?"
"Not bad at all!" Han Li glanced at the 'female' person and replied calmly.
"But just a month ago, I was still like the other tribespeople—had not yet refined my legs and thus did not belong to the upper tribe." The 'female' person's 'color' showed a slight anomaly.
"You mentioned the 'upper tribe'—what exactly do you mean by that?" Han Li twitched his brow and asked.
"Naturally, it refers to those who have refined their physical form into an upper-tribe body. Only we cultivators who have trained to this level can truly脱离 the mortal body and become upper-tribe beings." The 'female' person then laughed.
"Oh, from your tone, it seems you didn't reach this level through normal cultivation. Did you perhaps take some spiritual 'herbs' or use some secret method to forcibly elevate your cultivation to this extent?" Upon hearing this, Han Li felt a jolt in his heart, but his face remained expressionless as he nodded slightly, showing no strange 'color'.
And indeed, the 'female' person failed to notice Han Li's suspicion, and replied honestly:
"Senior, your discernment is clear! I have indeed used several rare and precious elixirs stored in our tribe, and employed a domineering secret technique, to forcibly elevate my cultivation across a level. However, as a result, my cultivation will forever remain stuck at this level and cannot advance further, and my lifespan is also reduced by more than half compared to peers of the same upper-tribe rank. But I did this only because our Fire Yang tribe now faces an existential catastrophe—I had no choice but to stake everything on this gamble." The 'female' person's expression grew heavy and unusual.
"An existential catastrophe? Well, do tell—I'm curious." Han Li raised his brow slightly, showing a hint of interest.
"Just half a year ago, a neighboring branch of the Wa clan, the 'Sharp-Tooth' tribe, was completely exterminated. All the female 'gender' members were eaten clean, leaving only piles of white bones. The male 'gender' members vanished without a trace. Not long after, another nearby tribe, the 'Scorpion-Tail' tribe, suffered the same fate. The Wa clan in the seas now consists of only us three tribes—though none are large, we had managed to barely stand firm through mutual support. But now that two tribes have been wiped out, we fear we may be next. As for the cause of their extermination, I have found nothing—only that the perpetrators were likely not just one individual. Probably some other powerful tribe. And the two tribes' high priests, in terms of divine abilities and cultivation, are not inferior to me. Forced by desperation, I have spared no expense to temporarily elevate my cultivation to the upper-tribe transformation level." The 'female' person explained everything in detail.
"Oh, so you want me to stay here to help you weather this calamity! You have such confidence in me, aren't you afraid I might also be unable to protect myself?" Han Li laughed after hearing this.
"Although I don't know your true cultivation level, senior, your magical power is certainly far above mine. As for your injuries, our Fire Yang tribe still possesses a single Blazing Yang Divine Pill, whose efficacy is great enough to regenerate flesh from white bone and restore life from death. If you are willing to stay and lend us a hand, I am willing to offer this pill to you, so that your injuries may be fully healed in a short time!" The 'female' person gritted her teeth and finally revealed her trump card.
"Blazing Yang Divine Pill! Is it a fire-attribute 'nature' spirit pill? Given the severity of my injuries—beyond what you could imagine—your tribe's divine pill would likely be of little use to me." Han Li furrowed his brow and spoke slowly.
"Senior, rest assured. This divine pill is not only refined from the inner core of a double-headed flame flood dragon, but since its refinement, it has been nurtured in earth fire by our tribe, and has already existed for thousands of years. In terms of potency, I still have some confidence." Upon hearing Han Li's words suggest a loosening of stance, the 'female' person immediately rejoiced and explained.
After hearing this, Han Li's face still showed a hint of hesitation, as if he had not yet made up his mind.
"How about this: senior, you temporarily reside in our tribe, take the divine pill, and observe its effects before deciding? If this pill truly has no effect on your injuries, I will naturally not mention further assistance. But if it does help..."
"If this Blazing Yang Pill can truly heal my injuries, I will naturally assist your Fire Yang tribe in overcoming this calamity. But I must say this upfront: if the enemy you face is truly too strong for me to handle, then this agreement shall be void!" Han Li seemed to have already made up his mind, and without waiting for the 'female' person to finish, he calmly interrupted her.
"Of course! Even if I am dull-witted, I would never demand that you, senior, risk your life for our small tribe." The 'female' person paid no heed to Han Li's later words and instead burst into joy.
Han Li nodded, signifying his formal agreement to this arrangement.
Thus, the following matters became much easier to discuss. Han Li inquired further about nearby sea-dwelling alien tribes, and the 'female' person answered each question in turn, then immediately prepared to send Han Li to his retreat.
The 'female' person then reached into her bosom, produced a white 'colored' silk-like magical implement, gave it a light shake, and it transformed into a large white cloud several zhang in size.
With a flicker, the cloud lifted Han Li together with the chair beneath him, suspending them several zhang high in the air.
The 'female' person's figure flickered, and she strangely stepped onto the cloud. Then, after murmuring an incantation, the cloud swirled once and shot out from the hall's entrance.
As the white cloud burst out of the great hall, the snake people waiting outside all bowed respectfully, seeing off the 'female' person's departure.
Although the cloud's speed is not remarkable, the island itself is only a few hundred li in size.
Thus, after only the time it takes to eat a meal, the 'female' person rode the cloud and brought Han Li to the foot of a small mountain with clear waters and lush scenery.
