Chapter 1913

~11 min read 2,059 words

Other people who had not yet transformed, upon seeing their companions in such a state, actually gave them a look of contempt more than half the time.

Moreover, although some people maintained a calm expression, their eyes swept over everything around them, and a barely concealed excitement appeared on their faces.

One old man with a head full of red hair and a hooked nose, his expression complex, gazed for a while at the distant verdant and lush scenery, then actually muttered two sentences in a voice too low to hear:

"I never expected that, in my lifetime, I would actually get to see these things again. If that is the case, then even if I die in battle in this realm, I would have no regrets."

"Brother Sha, why must you be so dispirited? The Holy Ancestor has already long ago issued orders to us. This holy sacrifice is vastly different from previous ones; if possible, the Holy Race has a chance to completely occupy part of the Spirit Realm. If we can achieve great merit in this holy sacrifice, we can apply to remain stationed in the Spirit Realm. For us who have ascended to the Demon Realm, this is a once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity."

Although the red-haired old man spoke extremely softly, he was heard by another dignified old man nearby, who wore a black robe and had a golden sash around his waist, who immediately gave a hehe laugh and said:

"Brother San Yang is absolutely correct! We who have ascended to the True Demon Realm are already members of the Holy Race. However, if we could truly remain in the Spirit Realm after this battle, it would naturally be a great fortune." The red-haired old man's expression shifted slightly as he nodded.

The same words were also being whispered privately among some other people.

At this moment, a rumbling sound suddenly came from the silver gate of the giant tower, followed by extremely heavy footsteps, one after another, emanating from within.

The runes around the silver gate flashed, and then suddenly, one squad after another of previously unseen demons walked out from within.

These demons had grayish-white, dry, cracked skin all over their bodies, with not a single hair growing, resembling piles of rocks stacked together into monsters; one could barely make out a humanoid outline, but four thick arms grew from their shoulders, and as they walked, the nearby ground trembled, and they were actually astonishingly heavy.

These stone demons were over ten zhang tall, and from each giant tower, over a thousand emerged, lining up neatly in front of the towers and standing motionless, yet their temperament was unexpectedly docile.

However, under the low roar of the leading demon, the stone demons' bodies flashed with gray light; their originally seemingly extremely hard bodies actually turned into the softness of yellow mud, and they sank into the earth one after another, disappearing without a trace.

After a short while, the earth within a radius of ten thousand li suddenly trembled, and then, at some edge, the earth actually split open out of nowhere.

Yellow light flashed and shrieked, and walls of earth rose from the ground out of nowhere; in the time it took to drink a cup of tea, a massive city wall stretching approximately a hundred li rose from the earth.

Although this wall reached a height of a hundred zhang, it was merely a rough outline, its surface extremely rough, with sand and dirt constantly falling down, giving the impression of something about to collapse.

But just then, spiritual light flickered on the ground before the wall, and those grayish-white stone demons actually emerged again from underground, waving their four arms and continuously slapping the earth wall.

A shocking scene appeared!

As the stone demons waved their four arms, thick beams of light as wide as a bowl shot out one after another, densely striking all parts of the earth wall.

In an instant, as if frozen, a "hissing" sound arose loudly!

Where the light beams struck, clusters of gray-white light blossomed and spread in all directions; and where the gray-white light passed, the loose sand instantly turned into grayish-white solid stone.

These stone demons actually possessed the divine ability to turn earth into stone.

Thus, under the frantic waving of the stone demons' arms, this hundred-li-long earth wall was instantly transformed into a seamless city wall.

In the other directions, the same rumbling sounds continued, and another group of stone demons similarly used the same method to easily pile up another stone wall.

In this way, within a short span of one shichen, everything within a radius of tens of thousands of li was enclosed within the stone city walls.

At this moment, another group of blurry ghostly figures wrapped in black qi flew out from the triangular giant towers.

These ghostly figures drifted about with extreme lightness, as if they were formless bodies; but when they flew to the city wall and flung themselves against it, various-sized magic arrays appeared out of nowhere on the wall surface. Their patterns and sizes were all identical, as if they had been inscribed by the same person.

After doing all this, these ghostly figures once again burrowed out from the city wall, actually ignoring other demons entirely, and swarmed back into the giant towers.

Thus, as time passed bit by bit, a giant city forged from solid stone rose up out of nowhere beneath the demon sea.

With the hundreds of giant towers as the center, other uniquely styled buildings, under the tireless work of the stone demons, likewise sprang up from the ground one by one.

Furthermore, some high-ranking demons, unhurriedly and calmly, personally set up various mysterious restrictions in different corners of the city; soon, layers of restriction fluctuations enveloped the entire giant city.

Suddenly, the spiritual light at the top of the central triangular giant tower flickered, and it actually split open strangely.

With a tremendous rumbling, a huge altar, as if dyed red with fresh blood, slowly rose from within.

This altar was inscribed all around with incomprehensible ancient characters; upon seeing them, one could actually feel a strong bloody aura rushing toward them.

But even more strangely, at the center of the altar, a tall figure entirely enveloped in a layer of blood light stood upright there.

Upon seeing this figure appear, all mid- to high-ranking demons, whether on guard or working, all had solemn expressions and half-kneeled in salute.

Even demons farther away, who originally did not know what had happened, upon seeing those nearby behaving this way, naturally also understood and similarly crouched low in worship.

"Greetings, Blood Light Holy Ancestor!"

After a moment, a sound that surged straight to the heavens echoed back and forth without cease above the giant city.

The figure in the blood light on the altar, however, remained unmoved by all this, merely sweeping a faint gaze around before narrowing its eyes and lifting its head to gaze at the demon sea in the high sky.

The gaze was piercing and dazzling, like a pair of crescent moons in the void, making it impossible to forget.

Suddenly, an arm lifted, a crystalline hand reached out, and with one hand, it made a seemingly casual motion upward.

With a "Boom—" that shook heaven and earth.

The demon sea in the high sky seemed to be fiercely grasped by an invisible hand that held up the heavens; half of the demon qi suddenly surged violently, and as it rolled downward, these demon qi went mad, rolling together, and with a flash of light, they transformed into a massive black jade staff, with a demon dragon head, covered in strange patterns, which then fell directly from above onto the altar.

The blood shadow's gaze flashed; the crystalline hand that had reached out moved its five fingers slightly.

The black staff, over a hundred zhang long, had its entire body flow with runes, and during its descent, it suddenly shrank, becoming about two zhang long, and was grasped by this Blood Light Holy Ancestor.

Holding the black staff horizontally before the body with one hand, the blood shadow uttered a low incantation. This incantation was obscure and difficult to understand; when spoken in the native demon tongue, it gave an even more peculiar sense of mystery.

The evil ghost head at the top of the black staff, in the incantation's sound, suddenly opened its silver eyes, and then, upon opening its mouth, it actually spat out sheet after sheet of black bright runes, which, swaying in the wind, instantly transformed into one black flower after another, floating and drifting upward to all parts of the giant city.

After a short while, the black flowers had spread to every corner of the giant city.

At this moment, the Blood Light Holy Ancestor paused its incantation, then rubbed the black staff vigorously with both hands, causing it to burst open into a mass of black light.

After the black light undulated a few times, it transformed into rings of invisible spiritual waves that swept outward in all directions.

Those black flowers, upon being flashed over by this wave, instantly "popped" and "popped" one after another, bursting open and turning into streams of black demon qi that dissipated outward.

The entire giant city was instantly enveloped by boundless demon qi.

Those demons of all sizes who had been kneeling, upon being touched by the demon qi, instantly had their spirits greatly invigorated; whether their magic power or physical strength, they recovered at nearly half again the speed of normal.

"Within three days, separately build another three holy cities; after seven days of reorganization, once everyone is assembled, immediately set out toward the largest human cultivator stronghold nearby." The Blood Light Holy Ancestor placed both hands behind its back, its face flashing with blood light, and then spoke sternly.

"We obey the holy decree!"

In the giant city enveloped by demon qi, countless high-ranking demons shouted in unison with joy.

The same scene unfolded, within a similar time frame, at various demon marks of the human and demon races.

At the largest demon mark, a giant human city built relying on a towering tree that reached like to the heavens, several Nascent Soul-level cultivators stood on the empty space above a pavilion at the waist of the giant tree, looking down from a height at the boundless rolling demon sea in the distance, their expressions uniformly gloomy.

……

Outside the Tian Yuan Holy City, ten thousand li away, two cultivators—one monk and one Daoist Priest—each activated a bronze mirror and a round bowl, releasing countless rays of rosy light as they ruthlessly slaughtered a group of snake-headed, horse-bodied demonic beasts.

But suddenly, from the distant horizon, a furious, sharp cry rang out, and a demonic wind rolled forward at an inconceivable speed.

"Run, high-ranking demons are coming!" the Daoist Priest shouted sternly upon seeing this.

Immediately afterward, he and the monk flashed with spiritual light on their bodies, transforming into two streaks of rainbow light over ten zhang long, shooting off in the direction of the Tian Yuan Imperial City.

……

On a desolate, yellowed plain of the demon beasts, several great armies were locked in desperate combat.

One side consisted of hundreds of thousands of grayish wolf packs, while the other side was composed of over ten thousand pale-blue demon lions.

On the wolf side, each was a giant wolf several zhang in length, with faint green ghostly light flickering in their eyes—clearly low-ranking demon beasts possessing some demonic power.

On the other side, the blue demon lions were even larger than the giant wolves by a fist's measure, bearing short, jet-black horns several inches long on their heads, and frequently spitting fireballs and ice cones from their mouths.

Amidst the beastly clash in the sky, thousands of snow-white giant eagles and a flock of double-headed flying serpents fought with extreme ferocity.

With a sweep of their steel talons, the white eagles wove silver arcs that rang with thunderclaps, while the double-headed flying serpents, upon opening their mouths, spat out globs of toxic liquid that scattered wildly—extremely sinister and venomous.

They often fell from the sky, but once they landed amid the ground battle, they were instantly reduced to bones with not a trace of flesh left.
