Chapter 55: The Third Person

~7 min read 1,230 words

"Your mind is simply too active. If you were allowed to move around freely, it would be my headache." Doctor Mo said unhurriedly. Then, he stretched out an arm, lifted Han Li very easily, took a step, and walked out of the room.

Now, the scorching sun outside was still very hot. Han Li felt that a long time had passed since entering the room, but in fact, it was only a very short moment.

Doctor Mo carried Han Li as if he were carrying an object, walking very leisurely through the medicinal garden beside the room, and came to a remote stone wall. The giant also followed silently, like his shadow, never leaving his side.

Through his eyes, Han Li clearly saw that in front of him, a stone room he had never seen before had been built at some point. This stone room was very similar to the stone room Han Li used for meditation, built entirely of stone materials. The only difference was that the outer wall had been simply whitewashed with lime water.

Judging from the materials used for the stone room, although it was built somewhat roughly, it was clearly completed not long ago. If he still had a sense of smell, he would probably still be able to smell a pungent lime water odor.

"Tie Nu, stay outside. If any living person approaches this room, kill them without mercy." Doctor Mo issued a bloody order. Clearly, he was afraid of any accidents that might ruin his good deed.

The stone door was easily pushed open, and he walked in without hesitation, then closed the stone door very naturally. It seemed that Doctor Mo was not unfamiliar with this room; it was highly likely that he had built it himself.

The stone room was enclosed, without a single window. After closing the stone door, Han Li originally thought it should be pitch black inside, unable to see anything. But what he saw was that the room was filled with all kinds of oil lamps and candles of varying thickness. The small space, not very large, was brilliant with candlelight, piles of candle fire, and was illuminated as brightly as in broad daylight.

The situation in the room left Han Li speechless. Of course, even if he had questions and wanted to speak, he couldn't do it now.

But all this was irrelevant. What made Han Li feel most uneasy was that a strange pattern, several feet in size, had been drawn in the middle of the entire stone room. The pattern seemed to have been applied with some kind of powder. As for what it specifically was, Han Li couldn't identify it because he couldn't get close to examine it carefully, and naturally, he couldn't know.

Around the pattern, several pieces of green jade the size of a fist were embedded. In the candlelight, the jade was crystal clear and transparent; one look and it was clear it was a rare object. If a connoisseur who loved to play with such things saw it, such good raw jade being wasted by being embedded in the stone floor, they would probably be so heartbroken that they wouldn't be able to sleep for several nights.

Han Li was hiding in his body, watching in a daze, when with a "thump," his body was thrown into the center of the pattern, lying on his back on the ground, able only to see the roof.

Han Li was somewhat anxious. At such a critical moment, he couldn't see Doctor Mo's every move, so how could he feel at ease? But as a fish on the chopping block, he was helpless. Afterward, he had no choice but to comfort himself, fortunately, he wasn't facing down, otherwise, he wouldn't even have a roof to look at.

"Pu," "Pu," "Pu"...

A series of strange sounds rang out. Han Li was somewhat strange, but immediately realized that the light had dimmed a lot. Only then did he understand that Doctor Mo had extinguished quite a few of the lamps and candles.

But he didn't know what deep meaning there was in doing this.

A moment later, Doctor Mo suddenly spoke.

"Is the method you mentioned really feasible? You know, I've bet everything on this." His voice was incredibly cold.

Han Li was somewhat confused and very puzzled. Was he talking to him? But the tone didn't sound like it! But there was no one else in the stone room besides the two of them. Or had Doctor Mo forgotten so quickly that he was still stuck with that damn yellow paper and couldn't speak at all?

"There's absolutely no problem. Have the 'Seven Ghosts Devouring the Soul Technique' and 'Spirit-Fixing Talisman' I passed to you before ever been false?" A strange man's voice suddenly appeared in the room. The voice sounded very young, like someone in their twenties.

Han Li was numb. The strange things he had experienced today were far more than what he had heard in the past few years. At this time, another voice popping up abruptly didn't seem like a big deal.

"Hmph! If it works before, what's the use of that?"

Doctor Mo spat out dirty words, which shocked Han Li. If it were in the past, it wouldn't be a big deal. But thinking of Doctor Mo's current handsome man appearance, yet his mouth was full of foul language, Han Li couldn't help but find bitter amusement.

"If you left a hand behind at the last critical moment, letting me fall into a trap, who would I go to find?"

Before the young man could answer, Doctor Mo continued to talk to himself.

"Don't say you'll guarantee it. You were supposed to be a dead person, and the person who killed you was me. Could you have no resentment? Not secretly trying to deceive me?"

Doctor Mo's repeated questioning didn't leave the opponent any room to refute, seemingly wanting to vent all the anxiety in his heart.

Afterward, besides Doctor Mo's heavy panting, there was a long period of silence.

For a long while, there was no response from the young man.

Han Li felt a chill in his heart upon hearing these words. This young man who appeared suddenly was actually a person who had died once. Could it be a ghost? And from their words, he gathered that the strange technique Doctor Mo had just used was obtained from this person.

"Then what do you want me to do? I have already sworn a poisonous oath in the name of my ancestors, parents, my entire family, and even my entire clan. Is that still not enough to satisfy you?" The young man finally spoke up, feeling aggrieved.

Han Li's heart skipped a beat. This young man was actually so insane as to use so many close relatives to swear an oath, just to gain Doctor Mo's trust. It could be seen that he was also a cold-blooded person. The slight favor he had felt due to their shared predicament vanished instantly.

"Not bad, I can't do anything to you. Your shell is destroyed, and now only your primordial spirit is here, unable to see the light of day. Compared to soul and spirit being destroyed, it's not necessarily better." Doctor Mo's tone softened, seemingly not wanting to tear his face off.
