Chapter 769
Han Li raised his hand expressionlessly; the blue shield flew out from his palm and instantly swelled into a massive shield blocking his front.
With a thunderous crash, yellow and blue light interwove; the giant brick and blue shield both shuddered and flew backward, seemingly evenly matched.
Seeing the giant shield hurtling back toward him, Han Li extended a finger with no expression and tapped lightly.
A flash of green light appeared, and the shield halted unnaturally.
The giant brick spun once, then transformed into a streak of yellow light and slammed toward Han Li again.
Han Li sneered; silver lightning flashed behind him, and he vanished once more.
The yellow-robed elder, startled, raised his hand without hesitation; a purple flag shot from his palm and instantly became a mass of purple cloud shielding his entire body.
At that moment, thunder cracked to the elder's left; Han Li's figure materialized, and he spat out a tiny sword, no more than a few inches long.
The moment the sword left his mouth, it was engulfed in deep blue flame and shot forward in a flash.
Inside the purple cloud, the elder had been calm moments before, but upon seeing the blue flame on the sword, his face twisted with terror, as if he'd seen a venomous scorpion.
Without thinking, he shifted his body instantly, teleporting over ten feet away to evade the sword.
But the elder never imagined that as his body moved, a faint female silhouette—foreseeing his move—appeared behind him, and with a graceful hand, she fired a green pearl at lightning speed.
The woman's emergence was silent and ghostlike, as if the elder had deliberately flown into her arms; her timing was flawless, perfectly synchronized with Han Li's.
Yet even so, with his Nascent Soul-level spiritual sense, the elder naturally sensed the anomaly behind him.
But at such close range, he had no time to dodge; his only option was to pour all his magic power into the protective purple cloud.
This ancient treasure's purple cloud was powerful—he still had one-third confidence in it!
With a deafening boom, golden and green light exploded; the once-impressive purple cloud shattered and dissolved. Inside, the elder screamed as half his body vanished, the remaining half about to be fully consumed by green flame.
Seeing this, the elder's intact head twisted with shock, fury, and disbelief—then instantly hardened into a look of bitter hatred, and he gritted his teeth.
With a loud pop, his remains exploded; a blinding yellow light shot out, flying over ten zhang away, containing a tiny infant no more than an inch tall, resembling the elder's face.
It was the yellow-robed elder's Nascent Soul—seeing the dire situation, he had decisively abandoned his body, letting his Nascent Soul flee, hoping to escape death.
But Han Li had anticipated this; as the Nascent Soul fled, he vanished again in silver light, reappearing instantly directly in its escape path.
He raised his hand; with a crack of thunder, a golden net descended from above.
Simultaneously, the tiny sword sheathed in blue flame flew in from behind.
The infant within the yellow light showed terror, frantically opening its mouth to spit out a tiny, inch-wide round bowl, shimmering with silver light, aiming to intercept the descending golden net.
With a loud bang, the bowl shattered before even touching the net, as the elder's Nascent Soul activated its spell.
After a flash of silver light, countless fragments scattered in all directions; the falling electric net trembled slightly under the impact of the shattered treasure.
In that brief delay, the elder's Nascent Soul activated its teleportation technique; its protective yellow light flashed, and it vanished from its original spot—only to reappear thirty zhang away, then transformed into a streak of blinding light and disappeared.
The golden net descended just a step too late—it had become a fish that slipped through the net.
Han Li frowned, gazing at the direction where the Nascent Soul had vanished, but made no move to pursue.
"He's surprisingly wise—to flee, he even shattered his life-bound treasure. Such a ruthless character is rare indeed," said the sudden white-robed woman, flying over with the elder's storage bag, sounding genuinely surprised.
It was Yin Yue, who had been secretly released by Han Li the moment he broke out of the blood veil.
"Hmph! He was just lucky!" Han Li felt equally frustrated inside.
It seemed the Muran people had thoroughly studied both Wind and Thunder Wings and Dry Blue Ice Flame; now, catching a high-rank Fa Shi off-guard would no longer be easy.
"Still, your evasion technique seems far more refined than before—you managed to sneak this close without him noticing at all," Han Li glanced sideways at Yin Yue and said coolly.
"I've just broken through another layer of the Four-Eyed Spirit Fox body's concealment technique. And since the master was distracting him fully, he had no attention left to spare—so I struck easily," Yin Yue laughed lightly, her voice clear.
"Perhaps," Han Li nodded, noncommittal.
Though Yin Yue had become his spirit vessel and was the only other person who knew the secret of the small bottle, for some reason, he always felt a veil of mystery surrounded her—he could never fully understand her.
After speaking briefly with Yin Yue, Han Li carefully surveyed the entire battlefield again.
This time, he observed more closely. At first glance, the scene seemed only describable as "chaos," yet Han Li still discerned the general situation.
Aside from the six cultivators still battling high in the sky, the battlefield was divided into several distinct scenarios.
One type involved dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of cultivators forming small or large battle groups, clustered in small areas, slaughtering each other.
These were mostly cultivators from the same sect or members of the same tribe, accustomed to fighting together; as soon as the great battle began, they immediately grouped to resist the enemy—far superior to fighting alone!
As a result, they were less likely to die; most groups remained locked in stalemate, unable to quickly determine victory.
Another type consisted of isolated duels—just a few individuals fighting one opponent.
These cultivators were mostly high-rank Fa Shi; their battles were even more perilous than the group fights—just one mistake meant total annihilation.
The final type involved both sides deploying unimaginable secret techniques and extraordinary treasures in fierce confrontation.
Most striking was a vast expanse of pitch-black ghost mist, emitting piercing shrieks as it raced through the air; any Fa Shi caught in its embrace instantly turned into a withered corpse and fell. Wherever it passed, Fa Shi fled in terror, keeping three zhang away.
Behind the mist, several Fa Shi unafraid of it continuously unleashed wind and thunder spiritual spells and treasures, striking the mist furiously; each strike scattered a portion of the mist—but within the mist, someone kept waving banner-like magical artifacts, causing the mist to slowly regenerate, leaving the Muran Fa Shi helpless against it.
Another area saw over a dozen high-rank cultivators battling a stone giant over a hundred zhang tall.
The giant appeared made of ordinary green stone; not only was its body massive, but every gesture hurled boulders the size of millstones like rain. Even with protective magical barriers, none of the cultivators dared take a direct hit.
On the giant's shoulders, one on each side, stood a Fa Shi, continuously activating treasures to assist the giant.
Other cultivators and Fa Shi were using immensely powerful treasures, locked in direct confrontation.
Each of these treasures possessed astonishing abilities, far surpassing ordinary ancient treasures—they must be the treasured artifacts of their sects or the Muran tribes' ancestral relics.
Han Li's eyes widened in amazement.
Though Han Li had broken out of the blood veil, only a few nearby battle groups noticed him, due to the chaos.
But even the closest of these groups were hundreds of zhang away.
Yet even so, two more Muran Grand Masters immediately flew out from one of the groups, transforming into two streaks of blinding light, charging toward Han Li with fierce intent.
Having witnessed Han Li's ruthless tactics—how he had just annihilated a peer Grand Master—they had zero confidence in defeating him.
But they dared not ignore such a mid-Nascent Soul cultivator; his destructive potential was too great.
"Go," Han Li said coldly to Yin Yue, showing no intention of being surrounded again by Nascent Soul Fa Shi.
Immediately, brilliant light flared, and he transformed into a streak of green light, shooting straight toward another nearby blood veil.
Yin Yue paused, then understood instantly; she gave a sly smile, her figure blurred slightly, and vanished into thin air.
As the green light reached the top of the blood veil, it paused briefly; a thunder pearl shot out from within. Han Li didn't even look to see the result—he immediately flew toward the next blood veil.
Han Li intended to first rescue the other trapped Nascent Soul cultivators!
A thunderous boom came from behind; a streak of crimson light flashed out, followed by a loud, delighted laugh.
"Who is the virtuous friend who helped? Master Suihun is deeply grateful!" The crimson light faded, revealing a solemn-faced cultivator in black robes.
"Master Suihun True Person?" Han Li was slightly surprised—he hadn't expected the first one rescued to be him.
"Hold off those two for me—I'll go rescue the others," Han Li instantly projected his voice clearly to Master Suihun True Person.
"Oh? It's Master Han!" The black-robed cultivator's face showed surprise, but then he nodded calmly. "No need for thanks—leave it to me!" He transformed into a streak of white light and charged toward the two Muran Grand Masters pursuing Han Li.
Han Li sensed this with his spiritual sense and felt a surge of relief; he opened his full speed and arrived above the next blood veil, raising his hand again to launch another burst of green light.
But then, unexpectedly—
Suddenly, a gray flash appeared at the top of the blood veil; a man in brocade robes appeared without warning, gazing at the incoming thunder pearl with a look of solemnity.
Han Li was startled—when had this man sneaked here? How had he not sensed him at all?
After scanning the man with his spiritual sense, Han Li was dumbfounded.
