Chapter 84

~5 min read 958 words

Originally, to prevent the Duan Shui Sect disciples from escaping and alerting other enemies, Han Li had to act personally, using Luo Yan Step and Yu Feng Decree together, effortlessly slaughtering all enemies in a mere instant, leaving Li Feiyu stunned—only then did he realize Han Li’s true strength.

When Li Feiyu came to his senses, he assumed Han Li’s astonishing martial skill came entirely from practicing the Blinking Sword Art.

This thought nearly drove him mad; he immediately entertained the idea of severing his own cultivation to switch to the Blinking Sword Art. Fortunately, his remaining reason told him that, whether in time or innate talent, it was now impossible for him.

Thus, on the journey ahead, Li Feiyu incessantly vented his bitterness to Han Li, lamenting how Han Li had struck the luck of a lifetime by learning such a formidable secret art.

Han Li, however, ignored his now bitterly envious friend and began ruthlessly eliminating every enemy they encountered, no longer concealing his true power.

Before Han Li’s uncanny movement, all enemies proved helpless, falling without even parrying a single strike—not even several high-ranking experts were spared.

Thus, under Han Li’s overwhelming display of power, the two easily reached Li Elder’s residence and met Ma Rong, who informed them that Li Elder and Zhang Xiuer had ascended to Sunset Peak.

Upon hearing this grim news, Li Feiyu’s face turned ashen.

He knew that Sunset Peak now was no exaggeration a dragon’s den or tiger’s lair; Zhang Xiuer’s going there was nearly the same as stepping one foot into the gates of death.

Helpless, the two conferred briefly, then left Li Elder’s residence and headed toward Sunset Peak—though a minor disturbance occurred just before they departed.

The fat, detestable confidant of the Wang Sect Master, upon seeing them prepare to leave, once again brandished his token and threatened them with punishment under sect rules if they refused to stay.

Li Feiyu, now frantic with worry for Zhang Xiuer’s safety, cared nothing for sect rules—he slapped the nagging fat man senseless to the ground, ordered his subordinates to remain and protect the others, and then walked away with Han Li.

As they neared Sunset Peak, the two were startled by the sheer number of enemies. Realizing a direct assault was impossible, they discussed briefly and devised a clever plan.

They knocked out two Duan Shui Sect disciples, donned their clothes, and, under cover of darkness and chaos, slipped unnoticed into the attacking crowd, easily ascending Sunset Peak and overhearing the Wang Sect Master’s current words. As for Qu Hun, due to his conspicuous figure, they left him hidden below the mountain.

Hearing that Sunset Peak might harbor such a final, mutually destructive weapon, Li Feiyu could no longer contain his curiosity and kept pressing Han Li for answers, hoping his friend would give him some reassurance.

“Forget whether it’s true or false—right now, our priority is to get into the main hall quickly, reunite with your little sweetheart, and sneak off the mountain. Remember, whether true or not, staying here is far too dangerous!” Han Li finally whispered.

“That’s true enough—but how do we slip in with so many eyes watching?” Li Feiyu muttered, frowning in despair.

“Hmph! We’ll just have to wait and see if an opportunity arises,” Han Li said, equally at a loss.

As the two hid behind the crowd, frantic and anxious, the ground beneath their feet suddenly began to tremble—first faintly, then violently—many people lost their footing and fell, while rocks tumbled down the mountain with its shaking.

“Disaster! The mountain’s collapsing! This Wang fellow means to take us all down with him!” Someone’s panicked cry rang out in the chaos.

Hearing this, most grew even more terrified; some even ignored Wang Juechu’s prior warnings, scrambling and crawling toward the exit, desperate to flee what they believed was a mountain about to collapse.

“Boom!” A massive crashing sound echoed, and the ground shook even more violently.

Hearing the roar, everyone assumed it was the beginning of the mountain’s total collapse, and despair seized them—escape was now surely impossible.

Jia Tianlong, meanwhile, was both shocked and furious. Though still surrounded by his loyal iron guards, his mind was blank, utterly at a loss.

He turned his gaze toward Jin Guang Shiren, his supposed pillar of support—but seeing the man’s panicked expression, he let out a bitter laugh.

So even this elder couldn’t save himself!

Jia Tianlong immediately lost much of his former admiration for the man.

“Heh! I thought the Wild Wolf Gang were fearless heroes—turns out they’re just a rabble!” Wang Juechu’s mocking voice rang out clearly through the chaos, revealing his refined cultivation.

As he spoke, the ground’s trembling ceased abruptly—as if the entire mountain had instantly calmed its fury and returned to stillness.

Only then did people notice that the stone hall everyone had been watching had vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a massive pit several mu in size. Some bolder souls stepped forward to the edge and peered down, gasping in shock—the pit was pitch-black, its depth utterly unfathomable.

“Jia Boss, does this evidence prove my words?” Wang Juechu asked coldly.

Jia Tianlong’s face was pale. He did not answer immediately, but scanned the surroundings.

All his men looked shaken and terrified—not just the ordinary gang members and outsiders, but even his own iron guards wore grim, terrified expressions.

Seeing this, Jia Tianlong understood: tonight’s goal of annihilating the Seven Mysteries Sect entirely was impossible. He would have to retreat first and plan again later.

“State your terms. But you should know—even now, we’re evenly matched on the surface. Don’t push too far!” he turned back, speaking with bitter resentment, his voice edged with clenched teeth.
