Chapter 311: You All Deserve a Beating
He raised his knife, his expression instantly stern: "Who exactly are you?"
Wang Laoshi's face was shocked. Switched? Crap!
Their faces turned pale, they exchanged glances, start fighting?
Tuan Tuan panicked, "Oops! This password doesn't match, we can't get in to rescue anyone!"
She untied the Embroidered pouch and took out a leaf.
She relaxed her small hand, a faint light flickered, and the leaf vanished.
She muttered low, "Change the password to 'You all deserve a beating!'"
Xiao Ningxun heard the rustle in the basket on his shoulder, pursed his lips in a smile, felt reassured, and shouted, "He really misremembered; the password's been changed. Now it's—You all deserve a beating!"
The tall guard instantly roared, "Scoundrel!"
… Wang Laoshi wore a stunned expression.
Xiao Er and Lu Qi guessed a bit, sure it was the miss! Their hearts settled.
"What's all the fuss! From far away we could hear you making noise here!"
A burly man with a pockmarked face staggered over, wearing a short blue cloth uniform and a large bunch of keys hanging from his waist.
Wang Laoshi's face changed abruptly: "Zhou, Chief Zhou!"
It was Guard Captain Zhou Mazi!
The tall guard saw him arrive and said, "Chief! They're cheating! They actually said today's password is 'You all deserve a beating'!"
"What's that?" Zhou Mazi scratched his ear, thinking he'd misheard.
"You all deserve a beating!" the short stout guard repeated.
Slap!
Zhou Mazi gave him a big ear slap across the face.
The short stout guard staggered two steps from the blow.
"Are you fucking crazy?" Zhou Mazi spat at his face, "Who deserves a beating? Huh? I think it's you!"
The short stout guard covered his face and complained, "Chief! They said it! It wasn't me! This password must be wrong!"
Zhou Mazi turned his head and carefully surveyed the people on the boat.
"Don't even know the password? Someone! Bring me …"
Xiao Ningxun calmly spoke, "Chief, could you think it over again?"
"Before we left, Uncle Liu told us, and we thought he was joking, so we didn't dare speak up earlier, never expecting it to be this."
"You esteemed person forgets often, think again, maybe you misremembered?"
He trusted Tuan Tuan completely; whatever Tuan Tuan says can't be wrong!
Zhou Mazi stared at him, "Did he misremember?"
What was the password again? Boss Shen's wealth flourishing? No, later it seemed to have changed… what was it changed to?
He shook his head vigorously and thought carefully.
A strange thought emerged crystal clear: indeed, "You all deserve a beating!"
The more he thought, the more convinced he was; his back straightened, and he spun around sharply.
Slap!
Another slap, a hard strike on the tall guard's face.
"What the hell is your memory!" he shouted, "I said the password myself, and you still get it wrong? The password is actually spot on—you all deserve a beating!"
The tall guard covered his face, completely too scared to speak.
Zhou Mazi turned and glared at Xiao Ningxun and the others, "What are you still standing around for? Move the stuff! Then get out quickly! Don't delay me from drinking!"
Wang Laoshi snapped out of it, hurriedly helped carry vegetables while muttering, "This password keeps changing; us simple folk can't keep track!"
"What are you waiting for, move it already!"
"Alright!" Lu Qi replied, hoisting the pork and heading inside, with Xiao Ningxun hurrying after.
Xiao Er also quickly lifted a vegetable basket, and the three followed Wang Laoshi toward the kitchen.
As they passed Zhou Mazi, he suddenly shouted, "Stop!"
Their steps halted, and their hearts rose again.
Zhou Mazi glanced at the pork, then at the basket, "Do you still want to do this trade? It's all damn stale!"
"If you bring this kind of stuff to fool me again, I'll replace you!"
"Yes! Yes!"
"Enough! Get out quickly! Drop it and leave! No lingering!"
The group quickened their steps and arrived at the kitchen.
As soon as they entered, Tuan Tuan lifted the cloth on the basket, poking out a small head, "Ha ha, Third Brother, isn't my password change fun?"
Xiao Ningxun smiled, "Well done!"
Xiao Er stretched his long arm and lifted her out.
Lu Qi exhaled, "That was close!"
Just as the words finished, the door was gently pushed open and Xiao Yue came in: "Dad, shall I lead them?"
"At this time, Zhou Mazi should be on duty, and the guards will be changing shifts soon."
"Alright, be careful. I'll bring them some wine and dishes, then wait for you at the small boat."
Xiao Ningxun and Xiao Er exchanged glances.
"Let's go."
Xiao Yue hunched over and led the way ahead.
Xiao Er and Lu Qi followed behind, Xiao Ningxun carried Tuan Tuan walking in the middle.
After going around a pile of scrap, Xiao Yue poked her head to look; at the entrance of a small shed, two guards were pacing back and forth.
She turned her head and gestured to Xiao Er and Lu Qi.
Xiao Er gave Lu Qi a hand signal, then moved close to the shed's shadow.
The two attacked simultaneously; after a few muffled groans, both guards collapsed to the ground.
After a moment, the two threw the guards' corpses into the shed, emerged from the shadow, and were already wearing their blue cloth short clothes.
The clothes didn't fit well, but in the dim night light they could barely pass.
Xiao Yue covered her mouth, held her breath, and watched them.
Xiao Er asked her, "What's stored in this shed? Why are they all grain sacks?"
"That's not grain inside; it's all poison."
Xiao Ningxun nodded: "Let's go, save people first."
Xiao Yue carefully continued to lead the way.
After a while, the outline of the shed could faintly be seen—a long shed built of wood and thatch.
When they were still about ten steps from the shed's door, footsteps suddenly sounded from inside.
Xiao Yue hastily led everyone to hide in the shadow beside the shed, while only Xiao Er continued forward to the shed's door.
A guard came out holding a lantern, glanced at him, and asked, "Who's there?"
Xiao Er lowered his head, lowered his voice, and mumbled, "Changing shift."
The guard muttered, "You should have come earlier; finally someone's here to take this miserable duty."
He shoved the lantern into Xiao Er's hand and asked, "Password?"
Xiao Er paused, snorted, and said, "Boss Shen deserves death."
The guard was momentarily unresponsive: "No, that's not right—"
"What nonsense!" Xiao Er raised his fist and smashed it down like an iron hammer, shouting, "Damn it! What a stupid password!"
Bang!
That punch landed squarely on the guard's face.
The guard couldn't even utter a groan, fell backward onto the bamboo stool behind him, which collapsed with a crack.
He saw stars, about to shout, when Lu Qi kicked him in the chest, silencing him completely.
