Chapter 369
Menggen is already in the glossary.
none.
Su He is not in the glossary, while Bateer is in the glossary.
Great Khan is in the glossary.
Bateer, recalling the words he had spoken, instantly went limp on the ground, his soul and spirit scattering.
Father Khan is in the glossary.
"Shut up!" Menggen suddenly roared, his voice surprisingly regaining some of its former vigor.
Poison? Not a name. Mr. Jiang – is this a named person? It's a surname with a title. Should we include it? It is a named entity: Mr. Jiang. Since it's a person's name with a title, we should include it as "Mr. Jiang" (as we normally would). The glossary says to use exact English forms for named entities; we haven't been given an English form for Mr. Jiang, so we create one: "Mr. Jiang". For a person's name we romanize the surname as Jiang and keep the title "Mr.", giving "Mr. Jiang". Also there is Baihe Tribe – a tribe name. It should be included as "Baihe Tribe". It is not in the glossary. Also there is Menggen's? – we decide not to include it.
Mr. Jiang again. Xiao Ningxun is in the glossary; Central Plains People is in the glossary. 'Crown Prince's tent' is not a named entity and does not need to be included.
Su He and Menggen.
none.
none.
Menggen said slowly, "The greed of the Baihe tribe is like a stray dog deluding itself into swallowing the sun! It must be slaughtered."
Suhe's legs gave way, and with a thud he fell to his knees, trembling yet still trying to struggle, "Great Khan! You are deeply poisoned, your mind is no longer clear!"
Granny Cangling should be included as a named entity; Eternal Heaven should be included as 'Eternal Heaven'; Holy Maiden is a generic title and should be excluded; Wolf King's cub is not a specific name and should be excluded.
Su He and Eternal Heaven again.
Elders and ministers is a generic term.
Jifeng and Menggen.
In that gaze swirled too many things—remorse, pain, release... —which finally settled into a profound entrustment.
Jifeng and Menggen are implied.
Jifeng and Xilu (a place name) should be included as 'Xilu', which is not in the glossary; also Great Khan.
Elders and ministers is generic.
Horse hoof prints and lasso are generic terms.
Elders and ministers and Great Khan.
Tuan Tuan and Su He.
"Drag Suhe out and feed him to the wolves! Don't let tomorrow's sun see his bones!"
Suhe's whole body went limp, collapsing to the ground, a patch of damp heat spreading between his legs.
Imperial guards is a generic term.
Su He, Great Khan, and Bateer.
His howl gradually faded beyond the tent.
Menggen gasped a few harsh breaths, "Allocate all of the Baihe tribe's assets to the other tribes."
Baihe Tribe and grassland (generic).
Menggen paused for a moment, his gaze finally landing on Bateer's face.
Bateer and grassland (generic).
"Unless every blade of grass on the steppe dies, he is not allowed to set foot on the steppe even a single step!"
Bateer and Father Khan.
Bateer and Father Khan.
Bateer, Arsi, and big tent (generic).
Menggen.
Jifeng and Menggen.
Jifeng; the term 'eji' is a generic term of address for mother and should be excluded.
Menggen's voice suddenly softened, murky tears rolling from the corners of his eyes into his graying sideburns, "She begged me before she died."
Menggen and Jifeng are implied.
Jifeng.
Menggen and Jifeng.
Bateer and Jifeng.
Menggen, Bateer, and Jifeng.
Tears slid over Jifeng's sharply defined face.
Jifeng; the term 'eji' should be excluded.
Menggen and Jifeng.
Jifeng and Menggen.
Menggen and Jifeng.
Menggen and Jifeng.
He lifted his gaze toward the sky outside, his voice as light as a sigh, "From now on, you can no longer soar about like a male eagle."
Menggen, Jifeng, and Grassland Wolf (which is in the glossary).
The nickname 'Fanfan' should be treated as a name.
Menggen, Jifeng, and Azure Wolf (which means 'azure wolf' or 'blue wolf') are likely metaphors and should be excluded as they are not proper names.
When the words fell, his eyes gently closed, the smile at the corner of his mouth forever frozen on his face.
Jifeng and Father Khan.
"Great Khan, grandpa!" Tuan Tuan let go of his hand, tears sliding over his small face, "Wuwu, Great Khan, grandpa!"
Xiao Ningxun hurriedly picked her up, gently patting her back, while Tuan Tuan lay on his shoulder and burst into loud sobs.
Little Rice stood up from Menggen's palm, went to Jifeng's side, and with its fluffy head gently rubbed his trembling arm.
Granny Cangling took the lead in paying respects, her aged voice ringing through the Golden Tent:
"Pay respects to the Great Khan!"
The elders and senior officials knelt toward Jifeng, echoing the loud shout: "Pay respects to the Great Khan!"
Aersi Leng picked up the golden knife placed at Menggen's bedside, strode outside the tent, raised it overhead, and announced loudly:
"Eternal Heaven has taken back the eagle's soul; the new chief wolf stands on the cliff!"
"The Great Khan has issued an order! From this moment on, the Second Prince Jifeng is our new Great Khan of the Xilu Grassland!"
He turned and knelt before the Golden Tent, kowtowing: "Pay respects to the Great Khan!"
Everyone knelt and shouted: "Pay respects to the Great Khan!"
This sound grew louder and louder, farther and farther...
Jifeng gently laid Menggen on the bed and slowly rose.
His face still wet with tears, but a blazing fire ignited in his eyes.
He reached out, took the sobbing, hiccuping Tuan Tuan from Xiao Ningxun's embrace, held him in his arms, then rubbed Little Rice's little head, and walked out of the Golden Tent.
Aersi Leng rose, holding with both hands the golden knife that only the Great Khan may possess, and presented it before him.
Jifeng took it with one hand, looked upon his people, and raised the golden knife high.
"Great Khan! Great Khan! Great Khan!"
The herders' cheers thundered.
Inside the tent, Xiao Ningxun and Xiao Ran exchanged a glance, and Xiao Ran exhaled: "At last, all danger passed."
Xiao Er smiled: "With the young lady here, nothing will go wrong."
Lu Qi teased him: "Then why were you so nervous just now?"
Xiao Er gave him a sideways glance: "You're no different!"
Jifeng returned to the tent holding Tuan Tuan.
Xiao Ningxun hurried forward: "Great Khan, please allow me to attend to a matter."
Jifeng looked at him: "Speak, Brother Xiao."
Xiao Ningxun said solemnly: "You are now the Great Khan of Xilu; rites must not be abandoned. Henceforth, in front of others you may no longer call me Brother Xiao."
Jifeng blinked, then gave a wry smile: "Is this starting already? That's why I didn't want to..."
Xiao Ningxun smiled: "You'll get used to it soon. Earlier, Great Khan Menggen mentioned a Mr. Jiang."
"I suspect he is the one who poisoned my father; please allow Xiao Er and Lu Qi to set out immediately for the White River Tribe."
"While they likely still don't know of the movements here at the Royal Court, capture this Mr. Jiang."
He turned his head to look at the celadon porcelain bottle on the table: "That poison is probably his as well. If I'm not mistaken, today's killing scheme is also his doing."
Jifeng nodded hatefully: "Good! Aersi Leng, you personally lead the men, go with them at once! Capture him alive!"
"Yes!"
