Chapter 581: Wow! So lively!
Abudu was stunned: "Me?"
Tuan Tuan nodded: "Exactly!"
Abudu hurried forward a few steps, stood before Tuan Tuan, beaming: "Little miss, I'm here—what are your orders?"
Tuan Tuan looked him up and down, staring for a good while.
Abudu felt uneasy under her gaze, gave a dry laugh: "Little miss, what are you looking at?"
"Uncle," Tuan Tuan said softly, "you have a golden light on you."
Abudu blinked: "What?"
Tuan Tuan looked serious: "Really, I just saw it myself."
She lowered her head to look at the box in her arms, her little face full of worry: "I'm worried—aside from me, I don't know who else could open this box."
"Uncle, the light on you matches the Treasure Map exactly—could you try opening it?"
"Huh?" Abudu's breathing grew rough: "Of course!"
Everyone hearing this objected:
A scrawny worker shouted: "What guts! If I hadn't seen you lot heading into town and run back to tell the shopkeeper, what good would cutting himself a hundred times do?"
The chubby worker felt most wronged: "I bled too! That wall hit hurt!"
The shopkeeper bluntly revealed: "He never wanted to cut himself! I said, if you won't do it, I will—then he did."
The group: "……"
So that's how it is!
Tuan Tuan waved her little hand: "You guys are so noisy!"
Now everyone obeyed her words as if they were imperial orders, instantly falling silent.
Tuan Tuan held out the box toward Abudu: "Uncle, give it a try."
Abudu swallowed, then slowly reached out.
His fingertips trembled slightly; with a gentle lift, a slit opened in the box.
Golden light poured from the crack, and everyone's eyes went wild again.
Abudu's mouth fell open in astonishment as he shouted: "I can open it! She was right—I can open it!"
Tuan Tuan snapped the box shut with a "pa": "Yay! I guessed right!"
The cook rushed forward first: "Little miss! I can too—let me try!"
The chubby worker followed close behind: "Right, right, right! I can do it—let me!"
The shopkeeper shoved the two aside, his smile sweeter than honey: "Little miss, they usually listen to me—I'll definitely be able to open it!"
Tuan Tuan blinked: "Sure, go ahead and all try."
"Get out of the way! All of you scram—when's it your turn?" Two soldiers shoved the crowd back and rushed forward first.
The short soldier held his breath, carefully gripped the lid and lifted—nothing budged.
He frowned, strained harder, but it was still the same.
The tall, thin soldier got frustrated, pulled him back, then put in all his strength—his face turned red from straining, yet the box stayed shut as before.
The shopkeeper rubbed his hands and stepped forward: "Gentlemen, let me try."
The two soldiers reluctantly stepped aside; the shopkeeper imitated Abudu's earlier move, lifting gently—but the box didn't budge at all.
He added force, but the tiny box remained as immovable as a rock.
Tuan Tuan watched them, looking troubled: "Then there's nothing we can do."
She turned to Abudu, her big eyes shining: "Abudu Uncle, you must be the bravest among them—that's why you're different!"
Abudu stared fixedly at the box in her arms, nodding repeatedly: "Exactly! Little miss, you're absolutely right—I've always……"
"Look," Tuan Tuan interrupted him, "you could cut yourself that deeply just to deceive people—you're really incredibly brave!"
Abudu blinked: "……"
Xiao Er and Lu Qi, the guards, pressed their lips tightly shut, the knives in their hands trembling nonstop.
Xiao Ningyuan couldn't hold it in any longer; he turned away, covered his mouth, and his shoulders shook violently.
Xiao Ningxun buried her face in her sister's back, silently grinning a few times before lifting her head again.
Xue Tong took out his needle case and gave another prick to his tiger's mouth.
Kang An, trying not to laugh, kept gulping big breaths.
Tuan Tuan looked astonished: "Master, why are you stabbing yourself again?"
Xue Tong replied: "This time I'm holding back laughter—I'm fine, good disciple, you carry on."
"Oh!" Tuan Tuan looked at Abudu: "Uncle, since only you can open this box, I'll give it to you!"
Upon hearing that, everyone erupted.
"Little miss! Didn't you say you'd give it to whoever had the most money?"
"Exactly! We've even brought out all our savings!"
"Why give it to him?"
Tuan Tuan looked at them, innocent: "But you can't open it!"
"If you can't open it, you can't see the Treasure Map inside—and without the map, how can you look for the treasure?"
Everyone was speechless, staring at each other.
Tuan Tuan thought, then her eyes lit up: "How about this—you can all go together!"
"Since you all chipped in, you all get a share of the treasure!"
Everyone was overjoyed:
"Right! Exactly! Everyone pitched in!"
The little girl is right!
The treasure belongs to all of us! We must all go together!
Tuan Tuan thrust the wooden box into Abdu's arms: "Uncle, here's the Treasure Map for you! You have to find it together with everyone!"
Abdu lowered his head to look at the box in his arms, and his pupils instantly turned blood‑red.
He spun around sharply, tip‑toeing the ground, and after a few hops he scrambled onto the roof.
The short soldier was the first to react, shouting profanely: "Damn it! He wants to hog it all!"
The tall, thin soldier bolted after him: "Chase! Don't let him get away!"
The crowd's curses thundered, and with a roar they turned; in an instant they all surged out of the courtyard.
Tuan Tuan tugged at Xiao Ningxun's sleeve, her little face alight with excitement: "Third Brother, I want to see!"
Xiao Ningxun smiled: "Fine." With a tip of a toe, they lifted Tuan Tuan and floated lightly onto the roof.
Xiao Ningyuan looked up and shouted: "Hey! You went up, what am I supposed to do?"
Xue Tong paced anxiously, circling the ground: "I want to go up too! How could I miss such an exciting spectacle!"
Xiao Er sighed helplessly, grabbing Xiao Ningyuan and Xue Tong each with one hand, and leapt onto the roof.
Kang An tugged at Lu Qi's hem, eyes glued to him: "Look!"
Even Sa Dike shuffled over, chuckling awkwardly: "Um, I want to see too."
Lu Qi smiled: "Alright, I'll show you."
He also grabbed the two, one in each hand, and leapt up with them.
A few guards exchanged glances, said nothing, and in unison flipped themselves onto the building.
Sa Dike craned his neck toward the street, his eyes widening to circles: "Whoa! So lively!"
