Chapter 697: How Am I Supposed to Treat?

~6 min read 1,146 words

Xiao Ningyuan looked bewildered: "An old man from Dongying? Lu Wu? Why look for him to vent anger for Lord Song?"

Tuan Tuan pouted: "I'm going anyway!"

Xiao Er hurriedly summed up what had just happened in a few sentences.

"Did you really run into Dongying people?" Lu Qi's face changed drastically: "It's a huge relief that the young lady is unharmed."

Xiao Ningyuan's face turned pale: "Tuan Tuan! You absolutely must not go!"

"Lu Wu could run all the way to Xibei to find you, and those Dongying folks came with him—who knows if they're not with him right now!"

"Be good, let's just go back."

"Big brother," Tuan Tuan touched her sachet, where the teacher's safety talisman lay, "the teacher bled a lot to save me!"

"Let me go! If anyone hurts you, I'll vent my anger for you too!"

Xiao Ningyuan was speechless.

Xiao Er advised: "Young master, hasn't the miss always been like this?"

"If anyone dares to hurt someone she cares about, she will surely seek retribution."

"Come on, young master, with me and Xiao brother here—if we really run into them, the miss's treasure isn't something to be taken lightly!" Lu Qi chimed in.

Xiao Ningyuan sighed: "All right. Let's go."

They all went to Lu Wu's residence, looking around carefully, but saw no trace of those black-clad people.

Lu Qi skillfully lifted the tiles of Lu Wu's bedroom.

Tuan Tuan looked down.

Lu Wu was slumped in the chair, his head full of silver needles, his head nodding bit by bit, eyelids drooping but he forced himself not to close them.

Tuan Tuan blinked and understood.

He must be waiting for Master to come give him acupuncture, so exhausted he dared not move, just gritting his teeth and enduring.

She stared at Lu Wu's drowsy old face, recalling the teacher's injured arm, and her little hand slowly clenched into a fist.

"You can't move, right?"

"I'll make you move! You can't stay still!"

She lowered her head, untied the small embroidered pouch at her waist, and pulled out a tiny bit of fur from Xiao Feifei's tail.

She stared at the head bristling with silver needles below and muttered: "Let this Dongying old man be itchy all over every day from now on!"

"Just like," she tilted her little head, "just like lots of tiny bugs crawling nonstop on him!"

Having said that, she loosened her little hand, a faint light flashed, and the fox fur vanished.

The several adults exchanged glances, unable to hold back laughter.

"This trick is really nasty!"

"But when dealing with those Dongying folks, the nastier the better—who made them refuse to stay put in Dongying and insist on meddling here?"

The four stared fixedly at what was below.

The next moment.

Lu Wu's body stiffened suddenly.

"It's really hot today," he raised his hand to scratch his neck, muttering, "I should take a bath tomorrow."

But just as he lowered his hand, his back started to itch again.

He reached to scratch but couldn't reach, still having to watch the silver needles on his head; the posture was extremely uncomfortable, so he could only keep twisting and rubbing against the chair back.

He hadn't rubbed twice when his elbow began to itch.

Next came his wrists, backs of hands, waist, legs… his whole body itched everywhere.

Lu Wu's hands kept scratching up and down; not scratching was unbearable, but the more he scratched, the itchier he got, his whole body writhing in the chair like a fish just tossed ashore.

Worst of all, his scalp began to itch.

He tried to slip his fingers into the gaps between the silver needles, but the needles were too dense; the itchy spots couldn't even be touched.

He gritted his teeth and endured for a moment, but finally couldn't take it anymore, no longer caring whether his disgraceful state would be seen and cost him his dignity: "Someone! Come quickly!"

He shouted for a while before a few servants, wearing their clothes and yawning, pushed the door open: "Master, what are your orders?"

The servants took a close look at his appearance, were instantly startled, and couldn't help but laugh:

"Master? What's wrong with you?"

Lu Wu, scratching all over, shouted: "Quickly fetch the Divine Doctor! Quick!"

One servant turned and ran.

Shortly after, Mo Zhanggeng walked in with a face of impatience.

"What's wrong with you now? It's the middle of the night—are you not letting people sleep?"

"Divine Doctor!" Lu Wu's voice trembled with tears: "Please come and check me out!"

"I'm itchy all over and can't stand it! Even my scalp itches!"

Mo Zhanggeng frowned, sat down, grabbed his wrist, and took his pulse.

After a moment, he released his hand, flipped Lu Wu's eyelids, examined his tongue coating, and his face immediately sank.

"You're perfectly fine—what are you pretending for?"

"What am I faking?" Lu Wu blinked: "I'm really itchy!"

Mo Zhanggeng glanced at him askance: "Your pulse is perfectly steady! Aside from something wrong with your head, you have no ailment!"

"Ah, I get it! You just want me to give you acupuncture sooner, right? Just say it straight—why all this roundabout fuss?"

"No! I'm really itchy! Especially itchy!" Lu Wu's voice changed with panic, his hands scratching harder and harder, leaving bloody streaks on his arms: "I've scratched myself into this state!"

"Divine Doctor! I'm not lying to you!"

Mo Zhanggeng glanced at his arm, snorted: "You have no illness at all—how am I supposed to treat you?"

Lu Wu was about to go crazy: "Divine Doctor! Think of a way, as long as it stops the itch, anything goes!"

"In the middle of the night, even if you're really itchy, I don't have any usable medicine on hand," Mo Zhanggeng stared at him for a moment, his eyes slightly narrowing, "but there is a way to stop the itch."

Lu Wu delighted: "What method?"

Mo Zhanggeng slowly rose to his feet and ordered the two servants at the door: "Go, fetch a tub of cool water."

"A big tub, the kind a person can sit in."

He thought: "Right, do you have any ice here?"

"Yes, there are some, prepared for making iced drinks when it's hottest."

"Put it all in."

The servants stared: "All, all of it?"

"You don't understand?" Mo Zhanggeng's face darkened, "Shall I say it again?"

"No, no!" The two servants turned and ran.

Lu Wu looked at Mo Zhanggeng, bewildered: "Divine Doctor, what are you going to do?"

Mo Zhanggeng brushed off his hands, sat down again: "Aren't you itchy? Ice water is the best for stopping the itch—get in, and I guarantee you won't be itchy."

Tuan Tuan covered her mouth, almost laughing out loud, "Master! You're awesome!"

Several adults laughed silently, "Divine Doctor Mo! No wonder you can be Tuan Tuan's master!"
