Chapter 735: Brother Wang! Kill Him!

~7 min read 1,289 words

Tuan Tuan got anxious as soon as she heard, tugged at Lu Qi's sleeve, and whispered into his ear, "Uncle Qi, they're going to take Master away!"

Lu Qi curled his lip and said, "Dream on!"

Cheng Jing hesitated for a moment and said, "No rush. You and I are hidden among the market streets; finding us won't be that easy."

He hugged his wife and gently swayed, "Let's just wait here quietly for a while."

Liu Guiyan let out a long sigh, "Fine."

Upon hearing that, Lu Qi gently shifted a tile back and pointed to the roof of the side room.

Tuan Tuan hurriedly climbed onto his back; Lu Qi made a light leap, silently landing on the ridge, lifted a tile, and looked down.

Mo Zhanggeng was seated at the table, a teacup in his hand, his eyes fixed on the direction of the city gate outside the window.

Tuan Tuan slid down from Lu Qi's back, crouched at the opening, and called softly, "Master!"

Mo Zhanggeng trembled all over, sprang to his feet, and looked up at the roof.

His face lit with surprise, "Tuan Tuan! How did you get here?"

"I'm here to take you away!" Tuan Tuan hurriedly told him, "Master! Those two scoundrels just said they were going to take you away!"

Mo Zhanggeng's face darkened, "Dreaming in daylight! I won't go with them!"

Then his expression changed, and he said with a grin, "If I go, I'm going with my disciple!"

Lu Qi squinted, "Divine Doctor Mo, your face changed way too fast."

"Exactly! Exactly!" Tuan Tuan nodded vigorously.

Mo Zhanggeng looked at her, "Disciple, how shall we leave?"

Tuan Tuan turned her head toward Lu Qi, "Uncle Qi, how shall we leave?"

Lu Qi was taken aback, glanced at the old man and the child, and said helplessly, "Wait a moment, miss, let me think."

A moment later, Mo Zhanggeng pushed the door open, stuck out half his body, and shouted into the courtyard, "Servants! Bring me a pot of hot water; the water's gone cold, how can I brew tea?"

A servant stuck his head out from the room and replied.

Soon after, he ran over holding a pot of hot water and pushed open the house door.

Just as he entered, Lu Qi reached out from behind the door and struck his back of the neck with a palm.

Mo Zhanggeng hurriedly shut the door.

The servant didn't even manage a hum before he fell limply down.

Lu Qi grabbed him, dragged him to the bedside, stripped his clothes and cap in a couple of motions, and handed them to Mo Zhanggeng, "Divine Doctor, put these on quickly."

Mo Zhanggeng fumbled, tore off his own outer robe, and slipped the servant's clothes over himself.

Lu Qi lifted the unconscious servant onto the bed and tucked him into the quilt.

He glanced, turned the person a bit, faced the inner side, pulled the quilt down to his chin, exposing only the back of his head.

He stepped back two paces and examined; hmm, unless you get up close, it's hard to tell.

Mo Zhanggeng put on the cap, haphazardly rolled up his long sleeves, looked down at his attire, and smiled, "Alright, it fits enough."

Lu Qi gave him a glance, stifling a laugh, "Divine Doctor, I'll go first and meet the miss; don't delay, get out quickly."

"Alright."

Lu Qi pulled the door open a crack, looked outside, and saw no one in the courtyard.

He opened the house door, vaulted onto the roof, and returned to Tuan Tuan's side.

Tuan Tuan smiled at Mo Zhanggeng's appearance, "Master! Hurry up and go!"

"Alright!" Mo Zhanggeng, a bit nervous, swallowed, readjusted his clothes, not knowing where to place his hands.

He grabbed the pot of hot water and walked out.

Tuan Tuan widened her eyes, "Uncle Qi, why is Master still carrying a pot?"

Lu Qi: "…"

How would I know!

The two crouched low, stretched their necks, and looked down.

They saw Mo Zhanggeng with his head down, moving swiftly across the courtyard, almost at the main gate.

"Lai Fu?" a servant suddenly emerged from the house, saw his silhouette, and shouted.

Mo Zhanggeng's foot halted, his back instantly stiffened.

Lu Qi and Tuan Tuan's hearts rose.

The servant pointed at Mo Zhanggeng's hand, looking baffled, "Where are you taking that pot? It's chaotic outside, why are you still going out?"

Pot?

Mo Zhanggeng looked down and thought, "Yeah, why am I still holding a pot?"

He didn't dare turn back, took a deep breath, and kept moving forward.

"Hey! Lai Fu, stop!" the servant sprinted after him, "The master told us to stay inside; why are you running around? Hurry back with me!"

Mo Zhanggeng's steps quickened, almost breaking into a jog.

Lu Qi clenched the iron lotus seed tightly, hesitating; if he knocked it down, it would surely alert Cheng Jing and Liu Guiyan.

I'm still with the miss; it's not proper to clash head‑on with them.

He watched as the man drew ever closer to Mo Zhanggeng.

Tuan Tuan lowered her head, quickly unfastened the Embroidered pouch, casually pulled out a broken thread, and muttered, "Make that person chasing my master forget what he's supposed to do!"

After speaking, she released her small hand, and the broken thread fell down.

A faint glimmer flashed and vanished.

The next moment.

The servant chasing Mo Zhanggeng stopped in his tracks, froze, and scratched the back of his head, "What am I doing here?"

Just with that pause, Mo Zhanggeng had already opened the big door and ran out.

The servant looked at the open door: "Why isn't the door closed? If someone comes in, what will happen!"

He walked over, shut the big door, turned around and went back.

Mo Zhanggeng burst out of the door and sprinted, ran the length of the alley in one breath, leaned against an old tree by the road, bent over and gasped heavily.

Lu Qi leapt down from the roof carrying Tuan Tuan and chased after.

"Master!" Tuan Tuan happily slid off Lu Qi's back onto the ground, took short steps and ran toward Mo Zhanggeng.

She plunged into Master's arms: "You ran so fast, Master!"

"Huh?" she looked down, "Master, why are your trousers all wet?"

Mo Zhanggeng only then realized that he was still gripping that water flask tightly in his hand.

When he ran earlier, water from the flask spilled out, soaking a large patch of his pant legs.

He set the flask down on the ground and scooped up Tuan Tuan: "Disciple, I have never run this fast before."

Tuan Tuan pointed at the flask on the ground: "Master, why are you carrying it?"

"Um," Mo Zhanggeng rubbed his nose, "I took the wrong one, thought it was my medicine box."

Tuan Tuan giggled and started laughing.

On the city wall, the guards bent over one after another, raising their swords to slash at the vanguards' legs.

Xiao Ningxun shouted loudly: "Shadow Blades! Hidden Weapons!"

The Shadow Blades simultaneously produced hidden weapons and fired them at the guards.

Wails rose and fell, and the first batch of bent‑over guards fell in droves.

"Xiao Ningxun!" King Qing shouted, staring intently at the one who had just given the orders.

He lifted his sword and charged: "Brother Wang! Kill him!"

King Chen looked up and saw Xiao Ningxun—Xiao Yuanhang's son!

If we can cut him down on the city wall, the enemy's morale will surely collapse!

"Surround him!" King Chen barked, flanking from the other side.

The guards, seeing the two Regent Kings personally entering the fray, felt a surge of courage and raised their blades, surrounding him.
