Chapter 933: Getting married is such a hassle!
Xiao Er and Lu Qi both froze.
Tuan Tuan said, "Guess!"
Lu Qi's Adam's apple rolled up and down, his voice a little tight: "Is... a girl?"
Tuan Tuan nodded vigorously: "Yes!"
Lu Qi broke into a grin, his eyes narrowing to slits: "A girl is good, a girl is good!"
The happier he got, the more he said: "If I could have a daughter like Miss, that would truly be a blessing earned from virtue in a past life!"
Tuan Tuan looked at him with a smiling squint: "Guess again."
Lu Qi's smile froze on his face, and he stared blankly.
"Guess again?" he scratched the back of his head, looking bewildered: "Didn't I already guess? It's a girl—you just nodded a moment ago..."
Tuan Tuan giggled: "There's also a boy! Uncle Qi, Sister Su's belly has two babies!"
Lu Qi stood there, stunned as if struck by lightning.
A moment later, he bolted into the room, shouting: "Wan Yun! Wan Yun!"
Just as Tuan Tuan was about to chase after him, a big hand reached from behind and gently grabbed her.
Xiao Er bent over, lifted her up, and held her securely in his arms: "Don't go, Tuan Tuan."
Tuan Tuan wrapped her arms around his neck, looking puzzled: "Why?"
Xiao Er thought for a while, really not knowing how to explain to this child, and after a long while managed to blurt out: "Because... because they want to have a private talk."
Tuan Tuan's eyes lit up as she nodded: "Oh—I get it! They don't want others to hear, right?"
Xiao Er nodded: "Right."
Not long after, the door was flung open and Lu Qi strode out.
His face was flushed, his eyes slightly red, he grabbed Xiao Er's arm: "Come on! Upstairs!"
"We brothers won't go home until we're drunk!"
The three of them returned to the front, went up to the third floor, and entered a private room.
Lu Qi called to Xiao Er: "Quick! Bring out the food, drinks, and snacks!"
"Sure thing, boss! Coming right up!"
Soon, the table was filled with food and drink.
Xiao Er raised his cup toward Lu Qi: "Brother Lu, congratulations! You've got both a son and a daughter!"
Lu Qi, feeling dizzy, picked up his cup, clinked it with Xiao Er's, and downed it in one gulp.
The liquor trickled down his chin without him noticing; he just kept giggling foolishly, his eyes nearly disappearing from laughter.
Tuan Tuan sat in her chair, picked up a red bean cake, and took a bite.
She swung her little legs, looked at Xiao Er then Lu Qi, and tugged at Xiao Er's clothes: "Uncle Er, you say."
"We didn't come to tell Uncle Qi that you and Sister Song are getting married, did we?"
Lu Qi's hand holding the cup froze in midair as he looked at Xiao Er: "Getting married? You're getting married?"
Xiao Er's dark face flushed red.
He set down his cup, rubbed his knees with his big hands, and nodded: "Hmm. The betrothal gifts have been sent, and the wedding is in a month."
Lu Qi set his cup on the table, leaned forward, and asked: "Which Miss Song?"
Tuan Tuan chimed in: "It's the teacher's older sister!"
Lu Qi blinked, blinked again, then stared wide-eyed: "The granddaughter of Lord Song? That famous Miss Song whose name resounds throughout Jingcheng?"
Xiao Er nodded.
Lu Qi froze for a moment, then slapped Xiao Er on the shoulder so hard his whole body jolted: "Nice one, Xiao Er! Keeping it quiet and going to marry Lord Song's granddaughter!"
He burst out laughing, then lowered his voice to ask: "You two... how did you get together?"
Xiao Er took a sip of his cup: "I accompany Miss to the Song Residence every day to study."
"Every time I went, I waited outside. Then..." he paused, "... then Miss Song let me sit down for tea."
"I told her about battlefield exploits. As I talked, we just..."
Xiao Er set down his cup, solemnly said: "Brother Lu, the Prince, for this marriage, acknowledged me as his sworn brother, entered me into the family genealogy, and even had a title conferred upon me."
"The Princess Consort personally oversees it, busy every day." He lowered his head, voice choking: "I, Xiao Er, truly have no way to repay this."
Lu Qi remained silent for a while before speaking slowly: "We two brothers met because of Miss, followed her south and north, faced life and death together—never did we imagine we'd have today."
Xiao Er nodded solemnly.
Lu Qi lifted his gaze to Xiao Tuanzi, who was slumped at the table edge nibbling snacks, cheeks bulging like a hoarding hamster, a speck of sesame stuck to the corner of his mouth.
Xiao Er followed his gaze, and a supremely tender smile spread across his face.
He reached out, took out a handkerchief, and gently wiped Tuan Tuan's mouth corner.
"Yeah." He said softly: "If it weren't for Miss, we wouldn't be where we are today."
"Brother Lu," Xiao Er raised his cup again, "you absolutely have to come to my wedding!"
"Of course!" They clinked cups and drained them in one go.
As Xiao Er carried Tuan Tuan back to the Prince's Mansion, Cheng Ru'an was anxiously waiting.
Seeing Xiao Er, she said: "Where have you been? Hurry! I summoned the master from Linglong Pavilion to take your measurements for new clothes—I've been waiting ages!"
"What for?" Xiao Er asked blankly.
Cheng Ru'an laughed: "You're the groom-to-be! Of course we need to measure and make several fine wedding outfits!"
"Granny Liu! Have them come over!"
"Yes!"
Soon enough, several tailors walked over and surrounded Xiao Er and Tuan Tuan.
Xiao Er was like a wooden person, sometimes stretching his arms, sometimes turning around.
Tuan Tuan sighed like a little adult: "Getting married is so troublesome!"
That night, in a courtyard deep within Jingcheng.
The Masked Man nodded satisfactorily and said, "The posts of the Three Department Ministers are now all mine, belonging to the Netherworld Summit."
One person asked, "Supreme Venerable, what should we do next?"
