Chapter 112: Create Water+

Hssst, hssst, hssst.

Three sets of “Big Dipper Stars” flew out from Wind Spirit Moon Shadow and merged into the three spell models chosen by Gao De.

Moments later, the “+” signs after the three spell entries shifted, and their effects changed slightly.

【Detect Magic+】 (Divination, 0th-level):

You can detect magical auras from spells and magical items within 20 meters: determine whether a magical aura is present, and sense the number and intensity of magical auras.

After the source of a magical aura is destroyed (if the source is a magical item) or dissipates (if the source is a spell), residual auras remain. If you use Detect Magic to observe and target these locations, the spell will mark them as having faint auras.

The duration of faint auras depends on the power of their source.

The amount of information you gain depends on how long you cast this spell.

The range of Detect Magic is 20 meters, and the object must remain within your line of sight.

Additional: Besides spells and magical items, you can also detect the auras of living creatures.

【Read Magic+】 (Divination, 0th-level): You can decipher magical inscriptions on objects—books, scrolls, weapons, etc.—that cannot be read by ordinary means; such deciphering typically does not activate the magic contained within the inscriptions.

Furthermore, once you have cast this spell and deciphered a particular piece of magical text, you may thereafter understand that same text without needing to cast Read Magic again.

Additional: Besides deciphering magical inscriptions, you have a chance to decipher unfamiliar scripts (success rate determined by the script’s mysticism and your own knowledge).

【Create Water+】 (Conjuration, 0th-level):

This spell creates two gallons (which may increase with the caster’s rank) of clean, drinkable water, as pure as rainwater.

You may create the water in any suitable container capable of holding liquid, or in an area up to three times that size—the water may fall like rain or fill many smaller vessels.

If the water is not consumed, it vanishes after one day.

Note: Each gallon (approximately 4.8 liters) of water weighs about 8 pounds. One cubic foot can hold eight gallons of water, roughly 60 pounds.

Additional: On the first casting of this spell each day, you may produce a random liquid instead of water, including but not limited to honey, wine, poison, or wastewater. You will receive specific information about the random liquid produced.

“Is this ‘daily first draw’?” Though he had just upgraded three spells at once, the 【Create Water+】 finally captured Gao De’s full attention.

His lips twitched.

The additional effect was simply too eye-catching.

If the enhancements to 【Detect Magic】 and 【Read Magic】 still followed some logic, one might guess their intent.

The additional effect of 【Create Water+】 seemed wildly unpredictable.

In Gao De’s understanding, it was a daily “lottery” chance.

If he “drew” fine wine, he’d strike it rich.

The price of fine wine varies by quality, origin, and supply-demand factors; one pint can cost anywhere from a few copper to several gold coins.

One gallon equals eight pints.

Two gallons equal sixteen pints.

Even at the lowest-end ale, one pint costs two copper coins.

Two gallons equal thirty-two copper coins.

If luck favored him and he “drew” premium wine, one pint might be worth one gold coin or more.

Two gallons would then be worth sixteen gold coins or more.

The only drawback was that the water created by 【Create Water】 vanished after one day if not consumed.

So unless he planned to scam someone, even if 【Create Water+】 “drew” top-tier wine, Gao De could only enjoy it himself—and only for a single day.

The reclamation task, which he had expected to last at least two or three more days, was suddenly declared complete on the second day—the 21st of Harvest Month.

It wasn’t that the reclamation task had been abandoned.

It was because the official forces of Kamengde City were also organizing reclamation efforts.

Both sides had begun reclamation from Kamengde City and Bremen City respectively, and now their progress had met.

Thus, the reclamation task was completed ahead of schedule.

Upon receiving the news, Gao De felt a pang of reluctance but also sighed in relief.

After so many days of “high-intensity labor,” his mind was utterly exhausted.

Ultimately, his strength was still too weak—he had to remain constantly alert.

If he were a 1st-level or even 2nd-level mage, he’d be far more relaxed.

Moreover, before leaving the city, he hadn’t anticipated this mission lasting so long, so he had only stocked five sets of Basic Mana Potions—enough for fifteen days.

Four days ago, his supply of Basic Mana Potions had already run out.

Even the five vials of Blue Light Potion were down to just one last small bottle.

Without magical potions to assist his cultivation, his progress—slower than a tortoise’s crawl—left him physically and mentally miserable.

Now that he could return, it was a blessing.

The Bremen City authorities were generous.

Even though no reclamation work was required today, they did not reclaim the day’s wages paid out the previous evening.

Instead, they simply organized everyone to pack up camp and return together to Bremen City.

They had departed on the 3rd; today was the 21st—a total of 19 days.

Gao De’s earnings: 95 gold coins and 5 full units of Primordial Essence.

A bountiful harvest!

Compared to the journey out, the return trip was remarkably smooth.

The pulse creatures along the highway had already been cleared—no need to stop.

Added to that, everyone had been away so long, and all were eager to return home.

The outbound journey had taken nearly twenty days.

The return trip took only two.

When the weary group finally caught sight of Bremen City again, they felt as if they had stepped out of another world.

This large group had originally recruited about five hundred apprentice mages.

On the first night, nearly fifty had left; about four hundred fifty remained.

After these days of reclamation, the number had dwindled to roughly four hundred ten.

With reliable logistics and healing mages providing care, and facing mostly 0th-level pulse creatures, the death rate still approached five percent.

The terror of pulse creatures was evident.

To Gao De’s surprise, when the group disbanded, their team leader, Ma Qieyi, personally approached them and left them his address.

“It’s been a pleasure working with all of you. Though the mission is over and we must part ways, I welcome you all to visit me for tea and conversation whenever you have time!”

As soon as Gao De returned to his home at 237 Kamengdejie, he went straight to the washroom and thoroughly scrubbed his body.

In the wild, there was no way to bathe—only a quick splash of water on the face.

After half a month, his skin had turned sour and stank, and his hair was matted.

This was unbearable for Gao De, who normally bathed once a day.

“Aren’t there any spells like Cleanse?” he muttered as he washed. “That shouldn’t be impossible.”

Where there’s a need, there should be a corresponding spell.

Since Create Water exists, Cleanse should be even easier to achieve—there must be one, I just don’t know it yet, Gao De speculated.

After washing and changing into the clothes he’d brought from Hogen City, Gao De threw his old garments away.

After so many days of exposure to wind and rain, his clothes were worn, torn, sour, and foul-smelling—not just unwashable, but even looking at them made him recoil.

Clean and tidy, he took his keys and left home.

He had many things to do today.

First, he would treat himself to a lavish dinner at a restaurant.

Then, he would buy two new outfits at Haton’s Apparel, and replenish his supply of Basic Mana Potions at the alchemy shop.

Additionally, Gao De needed to purchase several large-capacity containers to hold the random liquids produced daily by 【Create Water+】.

Finally, he would buy some gifts.

He planned to visit Ma Qieyi tomorrow or the day after to learn more about the “Hogen Pulse.”

Twenty days have passed since the reinforcements from Shengxi En City arrived in Bremen City—there should be some results by now.

But suppressing the Hogen Pulse is certainly not over—Gao De had specifically passed by the city square and taken a distant look.

That astonishing airship still hovered there, unmoved.
