Chapter 604: Postscript
Postscript
Postscript
Writing the three words "The End," I feel a bit lost, yet also a bit relieved.
It has been two days since I was discharged from the hospital, but in truth, my mind is still not very clear; sometimes you really don't know when an accident will come, just like how I always used to think I had nothing much to do with hospitals.
And yet, suddenly, I was hospitalized.
However, from February 14th, 2022, until today, it has been eleven months, with 2.43 million words; the speed cannot be called slow, it's just that the ending is a bit abrupt, which anyone can see.
If you were to ask if I could keep writing, I think writing to four or five million words wouldn't be a problem, as there are truly many, many cases, but I just can't go on.
First, with the development of the plot, there is the issue of the protagonist's low level of participation; many readers who purchased the full book have told me that they feel the protagonist's participation is too low now, making it hard to immerse themselves, and it's not as satisfying as the previous plotlines.
This is indeed true, because many cases cannot happen to the protagonist; many cases happen to the Employees, and although the protagonist is involved, it is clearly not as satisfying as before.
A reader who purchased the full book told me that he enjoyed the first million-plus words very much, but later on, it felt like it lost its flavor, and he was only reading it reluctantly; this actually shows that my later plotlines had problems and were not handled well.
So it is time to end it; otherwise, if you wanted me to keep writing, I certainly could. In this kind of book, every story is a small plot with low connectivity, so I could drag it out until the end of time.
And to be honest, this book of mine was actually riding the trend; everyone knows this, it's the benefit of the subject matter. No one had written this kind of thing before, so by riding the trend, Lao Jiu managed to fly for a while.
Whether the second book will reach the achievements of this one is hard to say, so this book could still make money if I kept writing, but I personally feel there is really no need to drag it out further.
Second, my body can no longer support it. I originally had three cases planned for the latter part, but now I have moved them all to the next book. The planned ending was actually the wedding, but I cut three cases in the middle.
If I continue writing, I might have to go back to the hospital after the New Year, and with unstable updates, it wouldn't be satisfying for everyone to read, so I simply ended it.
In short, thank you very much to all the readers; without you, there would be no Lao Jiu today.
I also thank my editor, Shengxia. At this time last year, he kept telling me, "Young man, you have potential, hurry up and start a book." So, for those who have ideas for submissions, remember to submit to Shengxia; he is extremely easy to talk to!
Next, I will properly recuperate my body and strive to return to my best state before starting a new book. The specific time is uncertain; it might be three months, or perhaps a bit longer.
The new book is what I mentioned before, with a Lawyer similar to Fang Dazhuang as the protagonist, written in more detail. In truth, the plot of this book wasn't handled well at the very beginning; at the time, I was aiming to write a purely satisfying story, so I didn't research the legal regulations in such great detail...
In short, it is finally finished. Dear readers, I will see you all in the next book!
