Chapter 399: Seeing Zhou Jie
The waiter quickly brought us two glasses of red wine.
Wen Han and I carried our wine glasses to a small bar in the casino, found an empty spot, and sat down.
Wen Han clinked his glass against mine,
"Brother Jianqiang, I thought you were a big player; back in Zaocheng you led such a large group, how could you not play these things?"
I laughed: "Mr. Wen, you've made me look foolish. I truly don't like this, so I've never studied it."
Wen Han said: "I know many people in business; they all love playing these things and are very good at it. You're an exception."
"That's why I never got the business off the ground," I said while drinking.
"It's not your fault; let's not talk about that. The stakes here are far higher than cricket fighting—this is the most famous underground casino in Sijiucheng."
The cash circulating here each day reaches several hundred million.
Just think how huge the wins and losses are here.
"Several hundred million."
Wen Han nodded.
My lifetime of effort has made Da Heng Group worth only over ten billion,
and it's the result of many people's hard work,
but here, the money that changes hands daily is several hundred million.
"Damn, it's like an entire Da Heng Group turning over here every day."
I was about to ask something when suddenly the room's door opened.
Four people came in from outside,
one of them a young man wearing glasses, with a standard semi-bald head.
His face is rather large, with high cheekbones and a gloomy gaze.
The people following him are all sturdy; at a glance they're bodyguards, specially assigned to protect him.
As soon as he entered the room, the waiter hurriedly bowed and greeted him,
"Good day, Mr. Zhou."
He didn't respond; he walked forward two steps.
Everyone in the room stopped what they were doing with their hands.
Then many people rose from their seats and actively greeted him,
I looked at this person and thought in my heart, "Who is this guy?"
Just as I was feeling surprised, the room's door was pushed open again.
A man about fifty years old came in from outside,
This guy is very tall, walks with great vigor, and is carrying a large bag in his hand,
"No need to ask—it's clearly a chip bag."
When I saw the newcomer, it was none other than Liu Shiru.
Liu Shiru had also come to this casino.
I saw Liu Shiru and was startled,
"What does Wen Han mean by bringing me here?"
"Brother Jianqiang, you know this person, right?"
"Liu Shiru."
"Yes, the former one is Zhou Jie, Young Master Zhou." Wen Han said.
"Mr. Wen, shall we go greet them?" I asked directly.
"You're right; let's go over and greet them. Let them know you're with me."
"At the same time I'll prove to you my relationship with them, so you won't doubt me." Wen Han said lightly.
"Mr. Wen, aren't you afraid they'll seize me?" I asked.
"Don't worry about coming here. I'll also show you my strength. Brother Jianqiang, having come, we should settle in. Let's go over and meet them." Wen Han finished speaking and stood up.
I followed behind Wen Han,
thinking to myself, "What act is Wen Han putting on?"
"If he's not afraid of them, why did he have me leave the hotel?"
"He's not afraid, so I'm even less afraid."
Wen Han walked straight toward Zhou Jie.
"Hey, Brother Zhou, you've come to play." Wen Han said to Zhou Jie.
Upon hearing the sound, Zhou Jie stopped his steps,
turned his head and looked,
"Old Second Wen, you're here. Long time no see. Let's have some fun at the table later." Zhou Jie said nonchalantly.
"No need to rush off, Brother Zhou; I'll introduce you to someone." Wen Han called out to Zhou Jie.
"Who are you introducing? Let me meet them." Zhou Jie said.
"A friend from Zaocheng." Wen Han said.
"A friend from Zaocheng." Zhou Jie immediately stopped his steps.
"Yes, a friend from Zaocheng. Zhao Jianqiang, do you know him?" Wen Han said, looking at Zhou Jie.
"Zhao Jianqiang." Zhou Jie repeated.
As Zhou Jie's words finished,
Liu Shiru's bag in his hand dropped straight to the floor,
"Zhao Jianqiang, where are you?"
"Brother Liu, no need to be nervous," Wen Han said.
After Wen Han finished speaking, he gave me a signal with his eyes.
I hurried forward.
"Hmph, I'm here; I am Zhao Jianqiang."
After I spoke, I stood in front of Zhou Jie and Liu Shiru.
My eyes burned with anger as I stared at Zhou Jie and Liu Shiru.
We are enemies, the kind who want to kill each other outright.
Meeting here, you can imagine the consequences.
Liu Shiru showed a surprised expression, then his hand slipped into his chest.
At this moment, Zhou Jie looked at me closely, because he had never seen me before.
My eyes stared at them, and I recalled more than twenty years ago, when I duelled Bai Lang in Zaocheng.
I would have charged straight ahead, thrust my knife into their throats, and let them die by my hand.
I thought of the humiliation I suffered in the past, of the sins of this past year, and of Zhou Wei lying in bed, reduced to a vegetable.
I thought of my wandering life, caused entirely by these two bastards.
A bodyguard behind Zhou Jie, seeing the situation was wrong, immediately rushed to stand in front of Zhou Jie,
shielding Zhou Jie. Liu Shiru at this moment also hid behind the bodyguard.
When Zhou Jie saw that I was alone, he waved his hand,
ordering the bodyguard to come and seize me.
All three bodyguards were very muscular, clearly well‑trained.
If I made a move, I wouldn't be their match. It would be better if Shi Yong were here; Shi Yong is strong and resilient, he would charge ahead, block the bodyguards, and I could directly grab Zhou Jie.
What to do now? My mind raced.
Just as the three bodyguards were about to close in, the corpulent figure of the boss suddenly sprang up between us, using his body to block them.
Wen Han then shouted loudly, "Hey, Brother Zhou, let me introduce you to a friend; what are you doing, getting so nervous?"
"Wen second brother, what are you up to? Why is Zhao Jianqiang in your hands? Hand him over to me quickly," Zhou Jie shouted.
"I said I'm friends with Zhao Jianqiang; he came to Sijiucheng to hang out, so I brought him over for a bit of fun. I'm just introducing you all, Brother Wen; why would I hand Zhao Jianqiang over to you?" Wen Han said calmly.
"If you don't hand Zhao Jianqiang over to me, you'll be opposing Zhou Jie and the Zhou Family. Do you understand the consequences?" Zhou Jie continued shouting.
"Ha ha, I'm not scared; if I were afraid of you, I wouldn't let Brother Jianqiang come."
What I'm saying is, since I'm friends with Brother Jianqiang, I have the right to protect him.
Try moving him.
"I, Wen Han, am not afraid of you." Wen Han said, then stepped forward.
"Since you act like this, it's as if we've torn our faces apart; do you know the consequences of that? Wen Han, listen, I want to protect Zhao Jianqiang, okay,
I will let you have it; today, I tell you,
your Wen Family is finished.
Believe it or not, tomorrow your Wen Family will be on the front page.
Ha ha, Wen Han still has a chance; as long as you hand Zhao Jianqiang over to me,
I can guarantee your Wen Family will remain safe."
"You guarantee? My heavens, on what grounds do you guarantee,"
"Brother Zhou, don't exaggerate your words."
"I won't hand Brother Jianqiang over to you today; see what you do. If you want to mess with our Wen Family, it's not that easy." Wen Han said, not giving an inch.
