Chapter 129: The True Nature of Telekinesis
Yang Yi carefully observed those few gray-white whiskers, which resembled the hair of an elderly person weathered by time—soft, slender, yet eerie, as if possessing life of their own. Though they appeared so fine and tender, they had effortlessly pierced an armored car, drilling holes in the cabin like an ant nest.
Had it not been for her telekinetic suppression, these whiskers would have wriggled toward any living being, draining everything from their prey and leaving behind a pile of dust resembling dregs.
What a greedy monster.
She extended her finger to touch those whiskers.
"Don't!" Thomas's pupils contracted slightly; he instinctively shouted out, then suddenly recalled the girl's true identity and immediately clamped his mouth shut. He gazed at her with a complex expression.
Yang Yi offered him a faint smile, her expression calm and indifferent. She lightly flicked her fingers, and the whiskers snapped apart inch by inch.
She pushed open the car door and looked up at the two Void-Eating Beasts frozen in midair by her "Domain."
Her Domain was becoming increasingly proficient. Previously, when she activated it, it felt as though she were borrowing someone else's power, and she had to freeze everything within her range—impressive to look at, but actually a sign of her still-uneven mastery. Now, she had only immobilized the two Void-Eating Beasts, while others remained free to move.
Her figure slowly rose. Having been without telekinesis for a month, she once again stood in the air like a god, overlooking the earth, gazing down upon the human world.
At that moment, everyone stared dumbfounded at that familiar figure.
Was it her?
Had she returned?
After Britain had blown up the path of her return, could they still be fortunate enough to receive her forgiveness?
On the ground, the crowd snapped out of their daze: those fleeing stopped, those waiting to die in their cars stepped out, those weeping wiped away their tears, the injured forgot their pain… People gazed at that slender figure in the air, that figure which, though clearly frail, represented hope.
Hope rose anew within them; someone shouted, though no one knew who:
"God of Humanity!"
As if awakened by that cry, others joined in. At first the voices were chaotic, but gradually, like countless streams merging into a great river, the crowd spoke with one voice, chanting the same title: "God of Humanity!"
"God of Humanity!"
"God of Humanity!"
……
Even before she had slain those two terrifying Void-Eating Beasts, merely by standing in the air, people had already decided in advance—she would surely save them; no one had ever doubted this.
Yang Yi's heart was utterly calm, even unnaturally so.
She extended her hand and waved it lightly, as if brushing away dust from a table long sealed.
The Domain instantly tightened; the two Void-Eating Beasts were violently compressed, their nearly twenty-meter-long bodies instantly shrunk to about one meter.
Everyone heard a bone-chilling sound of bones shattering completely, along with faint, almost imperceptible wails as if coming from another dimension.
Suddenly, from the compressed Void-Eating Beast, now unrecognizable in form, erupted a thick scarlet beam that shot toward Yang Yi.
This was known as the "Annihilation Beam." The Arkadian Kingdom, having used their newly developed dark matter weapon to provoke the Void-Eating Beast, witnessed this alien creature display its true power for the first time: with a single scarlet beam, the entire White House and everyone inside it vanished into nothingness.
Wherever the beam reached, all was annihilated into void.
And directly below and to the side of Yang Yi stood the stunned crowd; if Yang Yi dodged, the beam would strike the crowd head-on.
Yang Yi did not dodge; she simply extended her hand once more, a hand far too thin and frail.
Thus, people saw the scarlet beam halt before Yang Yi—not halt, but be blocked by an invisible barrier, for telekinesis cannot be seen.
Then, the scarlet beam retreated, slowly, continuously retreating—no, not retreating, but being pressed back by an invisible force.
Just as a volcano erupting with molten lava was forcibly suppressed by immense power, just as a hurricane raging over a turbulent sea was forcibly smoothed flat—the strange and terrifying scarlet beam was thus pressed back, extinguished silently and without sound.
Once, someone on the forum had discussed: What exactly is Yang Yi's telekinesis? If it were merely mental control over objects, then other awakened ones had also awakened telekinesis; why did none possess such inexplicable power? Why was none so mighty?
Under the deliberate misleading of certain individuals, the discussion grew increasingly chaotic, ultimately yielding no conclusion.
But Yang Yi had always known the true nature of her telekinesis; from the day she awakened, she had begun pondering this question.
Telekinesis: the ability of the mind to alter reality.
Even though, in the eyes of the world, she had become so mighty, hailed as the "God of Humanity," she knew she was still very, very far from being a true god.
What she mastered was merely the surface; true mind-altered reality was this: God said, "Let there be light," and light appeared; God deemed the light good, and thus separated light from darkness, making light the day and darkness the night.
The ultimate of telekinesis is creation and absolute control.
Creating all things from the void; everything lies within a single thought of mine.
But at this moment, against these alien creatures, this mere surface was sufficient.
Thus, before the eyes of all, people saw the scarlet annihilation light forcibly pressed back into the Void-Eating Beast's body; another Void-Eating Beast erupted with a scarlet beam, which, before it could even fire, was directly suppressed and extinguished.
Then, Yang Yi turned her body and descended to the ground; the two compressed Void-Eating Beasts behind her scattered into a cloud of dust, like two fireworks exploding, celebrating her return.
Clean, decisive, effortless, and casual.
"Oh God… we have actually taken in a… God of Humanity…" Thomas heard Miranda mutter unconsciously; her hands were tightly clasped before her chest, her eyes brimming with hot tears, completely lost in uncontrollable excitement.
Thomas did not know what he was thinking at that moment; perhaps he thought of nothing, or perhaps his thoughts were too numerous and chaotic to distinguish his own mind.
He gazed upward at that familiar yet strange, slender figure slowly descending before him. In an instant, he seemed to see a deity, backlit, walking from heaven down to the human world.
"Truly magnificent!" Thomas suddenly said, his tone so biting that even he himself was surprised.
"Mr., she saved us, saved everyone; she is not Frieza, she is Yang Yi!" Miranda immediately tugged his sleeve, worried by his unusual attitude.
"No, I am very glad to be Frieza," Yang Yi said softly.
Her gaze was more peaceful than ever before; the Yang Yi Thomas had seen before was either melancholy, or bitterly self-mocking, or confused, or despairing, but he had never seen her so calm.
She seemed to have understood something, to have found relief regarding something.
Yet at the same time, beneath this calmness, there was an indescribable sorrow, like a hidden current beneath a tranquil surface.
Perhaps it was merely an illusion, he thought.
Thomas took off his casual suit jacket and handed it to her, stubbornly calling her by that name he had once scorned, maintaining his arrogance: "Frieza, going out to save the world in a camisole is utterly improper!"
He had originally intended to act natural, straightforward, and carefree—as if the incident of kissing her forehead in the car earlier had never happened—but what emerged was forced arrogance, appearing overly pretentious. He himself sensed this, so his face grew somewhat gloomy, and he fell silent.
Yang Yi accepted the garment; their fingers touched, and Thomas withdrew his hand as if electrocuted.
"Then, farewell," Yang Yi said, gazing at them with a calm expression.
The surrounding crowd wanted to gather closer, yet seemed somewhat hesitant.
Yang Yi did not wish to linger; her figure vanished instantly. A continuous series of sonic booms echoed through the air, punching a straight hole through the floating white clouds in the sky that stretched toward the direction of Luo Xi City.
"Oh God... Oh God..." Miranda could only keep shouting "God" to vent the excitement and shock in her heart.
Gazing at the trace on the white clouds, Thomas unconsciously touched his own lips.
